I feel strongly that no one should be disadvantaged by their private medical status.Melissa Ockey (Hastings, 2022-02-04)

I am so disappointed with HDC. Excluding people based on their vaccination status is an absolutely unnecessary measure to take. It further promotes fear and segregation in our community. If the vaccine works, this mandate is pointless. If the vaccine doesn’t work, this mandate is pointless. This measure is not about health, it’s about control and punishing those who wish to retain bodily autonomy. In the beginning I was proud to say our council was above such appalling behaviour. Now I feel ashamed that they have bought into this nonsense. Further to that, we all pay for these ammenities in our rates. Will the unvaccinated see a rebate???Amy Jennings (Havelock North, 2022-02-04)

I can't enter the library to get books for my 9 year old.Lauren Hastie (Hastings, 2022-02-04)

Mandates are pointless and an overreach of the company we all have a basic human right to body autonomy and these jabs have proven to be ineffective n dangerous..where there is risk there MUST be choice!!!!Melanie Marsh (Hastings, 2022-02-04)

I don’t believe that segregation and discrimination cannot be justified or reasonable and is completely unreasonable on Hastings residentsDavid Lawes (Hastings, 2022-02-04)

I believe as rate payers EVERYONE, regardless of vaccine status has the right to use public facilities. Discrimination of any person, for any reason is against the Mew Zealand Bill of Rights. If you continue on this current path then those that are choosing not to support discrimination by refusing to use a vaccine pass should get a refund of rates.
Annika Funnell (Hastings, 2022-02-04)

I need to swim regularly for my health and the pools are closed to me now,as well as the library. I have paid rates in Hastings for 42 years, these are My facilities to use. How dare you ban my accessJocelyn Freeman (Hastings, 2022-02-04)

I stand against the division these mandates and vaccines passports have created in our community and the role they will play in the utter devastation and breakdown of our society .Furthermore, I believe If you pay taxes you should be able to access all the facilities you pay those taxes for .
Angeline Ramsay (Hastings, 2022-02-04)

As a ratepayer I am dismayed at this apartheid system generated unnecessarily by the HDC. I should not have to travel to Napier to get a Library book or have a swim. Yet, you still charge me rates for facilities I am banned from. I will remember your decision come election time later this year.Cecile Hurford (Havelock North, 2022-02-04)

I am appalled that the HDC has chosen to actively support segregation in this country and to ignore due process in making this decision. As a ratepayer and a NZ citizen I am furious that this is happening. The HDC has absolutely no right to persecute people for their personal health decisions. On top of the above, I am appalled that HDC feels that they can remove the rights of those who actually pay for the council services.Vivienne Bidwell (Clive, Hastings, 2022-02-04)

I am saddened for my children who I can no longer bring to the library, they love browsing the books and reading, this is so cruel and makes me feel really disgusted with our council. thus is outright discrimination and it has no place here in our beautiful hastings city.Tineka Ferguson (hastings, 2022-02-04)
#21
I'm signing this because I object to myself and my children being refused entry from the libraries and swimming pools. It is completely unfair, unethical and discriminates against our family who pays for these services in out rates.Louise Burton (Hastings, 2022-02-04)
#24
The supermarket is not mandated. The library's have less traffic in people terms. There is no logic to mandates for library's. It's just plain being mean. Stop it.Tim Eagle (Hastings, 2022-02-04)

I am a rate payer and take exception to a council that makes an undemocratic decision wielding power above and beyond it's jurisdiction. I object to a divided and segregated society.Deborah Taylor (Hastings, 2022-02-04)

We pay for these facilities we should get you use them and segregation (apartheid) is wrong. The science surrounding transmission (i.e. The vaccinated spread covid 19 just as much as unvaccinated) fails to give a valid public health rationale for the implementation of these repugnant policies!David Millin (Havelock North, 2022-02-04)

I’m signing because all these “mandates for vaccines”, masks, social distancing, and now “vaccine passports” and even covid itself, have nothing to do with what is really going on; and it is that all these measures are steps along the way towards the final implementation of Agenda 30 and “The Great Reset” - the end result of which will be a total global surveillance state, and the compkete destruction of Democracy world-wide. I know without doubt that Council members, at least some of them, are aware that this is what’s happening. The very secrecy with which Council proceeds along this track is itself a violation of our Democratic Principles. I know Council moves these things along in secret because they fear that if they were open and transparent with what they are moving forward, the majority of the people would oppose them, and quite rightly too. These ideas that Council is secretly moving forward are ideas generated by remote, off-shore, unelected bureaucrats who are also working to secret agendas. But these ideas are just that - ideas. There are other ideas of how we can solve our global problems without these draconian and tyrannical measures. You have to come to the negotiating table with the people who you ostensibly serve, and humbly ask them for THEIR solutions.Chris Elliott (Hastings, 2022-02-04)

I am against medical discrimination. There is evidence showing that the Pfizer vaccine is very dangerous to all creatures ; it has no long term safety data, and the manufacturer has no liability for damage caused. Neither is there proof of efficacy. Therefore it is up to the people pushing the mandate to prove the need.Andrew Olsen (Hastings, 2022-02-05)
#49
Hastings District Council public facilities should be available to all people. HDC has not followed a democratic process or consulted with its local community, before making this decision. The harm of excluding and discriminating against children, the elderly, deprived families, and some of our most vulnerable people far outweighs any perceived benefit or minimisation of risk.Lisa Soltau (Hastings, 2022-02-05)
#50
Im signing because i disagree with your mandates for vaccine passes. As a rates payer i am entitled to publicly access these places. This is totally unlawful and you will be held accountable for this breech of law.linda mccullough (Hastings, 2022-02-05)

I believe Hastings District Council is using bully tactics for the government into abusing the human rights of its citizens. I pay rates and have done for 32 years and I'm disgusted that me or my whānau are being discriminated against for choosing to be vaccine free because of our religeous beliefs.Michelle Horne (Flaxmere, 2022-02-05)

Because this is discriminating !! Having the vaccine doesnt make you covid free! HCC has a responsibility in providing services that promote social cohesion, active participation in a democratic society, and a non-discriminatory environment that includes all members of society. Why are they then choosing to promote social divisiveness, medical apartheid, and failing to promote democratic values? It is shocking that a decision as important as this was made by an unelected bureaucrat without consulting elected council representatives let alone attempting public consultation. Hiding behind health and safety rules instead of robust debate doesn’t foster confidence in where the council is going.Herman Veluwenkamp (Hastings, 2022-02-05)

I’m absolutely disgusted at the ability of a council to abuse their power by cutting off a portion of society in this way. As a child I lived in South Africa. This is what you have chosen to become over the common cold. Shame on you.Nicola Kenny (Havelock North, 2022-02-05)

There is no logic or reasoning behind so called "vax" passes at all. All data indicates that at best these jabs give very short term and moderate protection, after which they are actually detrimental to your immune system and make you MORE susceptible to disease, including Covid.Stop your irrational hysteria. If you are not able to think rationally, get out of government.
Graham Ward (Napier, 2022-02-06)

If people who are HIV positive or gay or black were excluded from public facilities we wouldn't tolerate it for a moment. How is this any different? When 90%+ of Covid cases in NZ and beyond are now fully vaccinated. Which clearly demonstrates that community members bearing vax passports are no more or less dangerous than my children, which makes excluding my children from the library unconscionable. We pay rates which are for these public services. It is completely unacceptable for HDC to champion discrimination. Of all of the measures enacted in the last 20+ months this is one of the most saddening and disturbing. Who would want local citizens prevented from using libraries?Fritha Hewetson (Hastings, 2022-02-06)

I believe in freedom, freedom of choice and freedom of the people for the people. I want my rates back if I can't use facilities I have paid for. If not late. I support your stance and oppose division and discrimination.Tania Huata (Hastings, 2022-02-06)
#140
This requirement is in breach of basic human rights. It also doesn't stack up from a scientific point of view as the latest published research demonstrate with any margin of doubt that regardless regardless of having received the jab you can catch and pass it on to others. No scientific evidence suggests that the breaks the chain of transmission. Clearly this policy amounts to discrimination, segregation, and has no place in our district. In addition to it that was zero public debate prior to implementing it which it's also in breach of the most basic democratic standards.Guilherme Dib (Hastings, 2022-02-06)
#146
Everyone should be welcome in a society, with council run facilities, unless they have committed a crime or are incapable of participating in society as it is. I am neither. So why are you taking away the same rights as you have?Tory Allan (Napier, 2022-02-06)

I’m signing this because we are appalled that our public servants have chosen To participate in this mass medical apartheid and discriminate against its people, people whom pay your wages and keep these public facilities open. You mandating these facilities is not a government requirement. You have chosen this! Disappointed with your decisions. I would have hoped that an institute such as HDC would move with the real science, which has proved to be as fast paced as the virus changes and mutates. It is a shame to see HDC stuck in it's unfounded and irrational discrimination, when the virus does not even discriminate between vaccinated and not vaccinated!Malina Parkinson (Hastings, 2022-02-07)

Im signing because every human being has a right to access any facility without discrimination. This goes far beyond the human rights of NZ people. Those who feel it’s a safe choice to take a vaccine have and should, but that should never be forced on others who don’t want to or feel they need to, nor should they be discriminated for choosing not to have it.
My children have every right to be able to enter their local library, pool, art gallery, cafe, restaurant, park, skate park and HDC has taken that away from them, our family and our friends.
