Hakim Adi has been in touch to say that the book is now going to be available from Thursday 22 October.
He thanks you once again for your support, and hopes you will buy the book and spread the word so that there is no temptation for the publishers to say there isn't the market for this or any other books on Black history.

Update, August 9, 2020 (FINAL!)
2020-08-09 21:10:57A contract was signed in the second week of August. The book is being republished and is expected to be on sale from October 2020. It is hoped that a contract for republishing African Migrations will be signed in September and that it will be available in 2021. Prof. Adi and Mr. Shelley will be meeting in September to discuss other issues. Prof. Adi has asked me to pass on his immense gratitude to you for your support, and I thank you too. The petition will be closed shortly.

2020-07-08 17:22:11At the second meeting between Prof. Adi and Ms. Hilary Murray Hill, on 7 July 2020, it was agreed in principle to republish The History of the African and Caribbean Communities in Britain immediately; African Migrations as soon as possible, and to look toward making the contents of Famous People: Nelson Mandela available online. Discussions on these, and broader issues, are ongoing.

2020-06-26 15:55:51Professor Hakim Adi had a Zoom meeting on 26 June 2020 with Hilary Murray Hill, CEO of Hachette Children’s Group. She has been with Hachette only since 2015, so some of the background was unfamiliar to her. This background was discussed, and she acknowledged that Prof. Adi’s complaints had merit. She also acknowledged that it is erroneous to suggest that there isn’t a market for “The History of African and Caribbean Communities in Britain,” or other books on African History. Another meeting will take place in the week commencing 6 July 2020 at which the possibility of Hachette republishing not just this book, but also his other two books for children previously published by the Group: “African Migrations” and “Nelson Mandela: Father of Freedom,” in book form and digitally, will be discussed. Another update will follow after that meeting.
