Shout out to The Altoona Mirror for doing the story and bringing attention to this dangerous intersection. Senator Judy Ward for listening to me getting us the grant. To Jim Gregory for his letter of support. And of course all of you who signed the petition. We ended up with over 500 signatures and without you none of this would have happened. Thank you all

Speed Limit Change
2021-05-08 12:49:46To make the intersection safer Penn Dot did a speed survey and determined that the speed limit on that stretch of road should be lowered from 55 to 45.
It will take all of us a little time to adjust to, but I believe it is a step in the right direction. The big problem will be people obeying the new speed limit. If people slow down it will help save lives.
The next step in the project is more indicators to make people aware of the dangerous intersection.
Thank you again for making this project happen.

About the ARLE grant:
PennDOT - Statewide News
Governor Wolf Announces 13 Municipalities Will Receive Red Light Enforcement Funds to Improve Traffic Safety
Harrisburg, PA– Governor Tom Wolf today announced that the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) will distribute $8.2 million in Automated Red Light Enforcement (ARLE) funding to 13 municipalities statewide to fund 16 safety projects.
Pennsylvania's ARLE program aims to improve safety at signalized intersections by providing automated enforcement at locations where data shows red-light running has been an issue.
"This program helps communities across the state make important investments in traffic flow and safety," Gov. Wolf said. "These improvements complement PennDOT's ongoing work to improve safety and mobility across Pennsylvania."
Grant funding is supplied by fines from red light violations at 31 intersections in Philadelphia. State law specifies that projects improving safety, enhancing mobility and reducing congestion can be considered for funding. Municipalities submitted 123 applications, totaling almost $39.5 million in requests.
Projects were selected by an eight-member committee, and selections were based on criteria such as safety benefits and effectiveness, cost, and local and regional impact.
This investment brings the total dollars awarded through the ARLE funding program to $99.79 million, funding 473 transportation enhancement projects since 2010.
Taylor was the only one in Blair Co. to be awarded any monies.
Blair County:
Taylor Township - $60,000 for the installation of "Cross Road Ahead" signage with advisory speed plaques and solar-powered flashing warning devices along SR 36 (Woodbury Pike) prior to the intersection of SR 2004 (Cross Cove Road).

Update on our progress.
2020-10-09 22:51:44Counting electronic signatures and on paper we have over 500!
I wanted to thank everyone who signed the Rt 36 and cross cove Road Petition. I presented your signatures to Taylor Township along with 2 representatives from Penn Dot that were at the township meeting on Monday. October 5th.
Thank you to the residents that were able to come to the meeting and voice their concerns on the matter and to The Morrison Cove Herald for Zooming in. Can't wait to see their story.
The Altoona Mirror did a fantastic story on the intersection. Special thanks to Senator Judy Ward and Sate Rep. Jim Gregory for reaching out and sending letters of support to the township.
Penn Dot has setup speed warning signs since the meeting which should help grab drivers attention to their speed as a temporary resource. Penn Dot and Taylor Township are to continue working closely on the issue and focus on fixing the dip in the road.
