Update Gwinnett County Planning Commission July 10th, 2023
2023-07-11 14:43:26The Gwinnett County Planning Commission met on July 10th, 2023 and they decided to table the discussion & recommendation until the September 2023 meeting.
Generally, public hearings are held each month the first Tuesday of each month at 7:00pm at the Gwinnett Justice and Administration Center Auditorium, 75 Langley Drive Lawrenceville, Georgia 30046. However, we will update everyone once the actual date is published by the county.
This is a small step / win towards stopping this rezoning.
The reasons they noted where
1) The overwhelming amount of opposition by residents(~25 or more) who were present at the meeting. There were representatives from multiple surrounding sub divisions and induvidual home owners adjacent to this property.
2) Due to the 10 minute window allocated to raise the opposition, not everyone could voice their opposition and present their facts to prevent the rezoning.
3) The Commissioners noted that the owners have already been advertising the property as RETAIL in multiple areas when the rezoning is not yet approved, and also the traffic nightmare it would cause on the narrow single lane road
4) The Commissioners also noted that the Owners of the building do not seem to have reached out to the community to discuss the same and have volunteered to facilitate the same.

5) It was decided that there would be single spokesperson in the next meeting who would be the voice of the community so as to be on point on the topic. Mr Alan Davis was designated for the role.
