RESTORING NAHJ ELECTIONS

Dear NAHJ member,

Thank you for answering the call quickly for signatures on a petition asking the NAHJ board to restore the 2020 elections. By now you will likely have received an email from NAHJ announcing that the board will revisit its decision to cancel the elections, a move that violates NAHJ bylaws.

We are hopeful the board will make the right call. We also have been reassured by NAHJ President Hugo Balta that there will be enough time to schedule the 2020 election by the end of NAHJ’s first-ever virtual convention Aug. 5-9.

We will continue to monitor the situation and will update you as needed. Once the 2020 elections are restored, we urge you to participate in them — as a voter and/or as a candidate -- and encourage other NAHJ members to do the same.
