Demand Protection for Cosplayers

Recently, in the Irish and Northern Irish cosplay community, there has been a shocking increase in the amount of abuse cosplayers receive while attending conventions. 

This abuse takes many forms, verbal, physical and even, most horrifically, sexual. 

There has been cosplayers harassed verbally for the quality of their cosplay, their body type, the character they chose to cosplay and much more. Many cosplayers have also been physically abused for the same reasons. 

Many cosplayers receieve a shocking amount of sexual harassment while attending conventions, the most notable of which, lead to the extreme sexual assault of a cosplayer while they attended a well-known convention. 

Fortunately, the most extreme cases are dealt with. Though many people have reported that they aren’t taken seriously when they state that they have been hurt.

This petition only calls for conventions to put on place a satisfactory amount of support for cosplayers and convention attendees.
