R101 - Road of Death!
We as interested and affected parties using the R101 between Pretoria and Hammanskraal, DEMAND URGENT attention and management of this “ROAD OF DEATH”, and regard it as HIGH PRIORITY!!!
We, as a community, comprising the following entities:
- Taxpayers
- Businesses
- Parents of school going children
- School children
- Road users
We demand the following to be addressed WITHOUT delay and as a matter of URGENCY:
1. Safer access onto the R101 from the following points:
- Murray Hill connection to the R101.
- Vasfontein connection to the R101.
- Soshanguve / Rooiwal connection to the R101. Access to Uniefees Primary School.
- Walmansthal connection to the R101.
- Sphinx Road connection to the R101, Extremely DANGEROUS, FATAL in fact, (many accidents).
- Bon Accord Dam / Dam Road connection to the R101.
- Bon Accord access from the N4 West onto the R101.
- Bon Accord Shopping Centre with all the shops from east to west.
2. Lawlessness / speeding / reckless driving by taxis and Busses, and total disorder in driver behaviour during peak traffic hours, with no effective traffic management. Prosecution of moving violations 24/7 on a permanent basis (overtaking on left or over solid line is a common occurance).
3. Speed calming measures to be implemented on the R101, e.g.
- Robots
- Stop and yield signs
- Speed humps / pacifiers / traffic circles
- Speed limits
- Overtaking prohibited
4. Propper road markings and warning signs of poor road conditions.
5. Widening and upgrading of the R101 according to the high traffic load.
I hereby support the above demands from the Gauteng Department of Roads and Transport
with immediate effect or wewill be forced to take legal action.
