Save the 464 Evening Bus Service

The bus is run by Rossendale Transport and is subsidised by Lancashire County Council.

For those who are unaware of the situation, the subsidy for the 464 Evening Bus service may be withdrawn due to it not making enough money.

It is currently being run on a temporary contract; for a number of weeks, until a decision is made as to whether this service should remain, or be withdrawn.

 

 

 

 

At the Moment:

  • Colleges run courses until 9 PM.
  • The hospital visiting time is until 8 pm.
  • Young People will be unable to have their freedom of travelling to social events, or to see friends in the evenings.
  • Many who work in the evening will be left without public transport to get to, or return from work.
  • Late night GP services will be unreachable for those who depend on the bus services.
  • Your weekly or day rover will be the same price for a cut service, which have also just gone up in price:

  • your NOW disabled or over 60's card will be useless in the evening.
  • We are encouraged to be environmentally friendly, and to use the buses, rather than drive,  but without this service people will be pushed into driving in the evenings.
