I'm signing this because I believe what Cantina has done for Stanford is astonishing and has brought something new and exciting, for it to be revoked dye to noise, on the other hand the past 3 days(18 Jan/19 Jan/20 Jan) religious get- together has caused more noise than any Sunday session Cantina has ever made.Leo Mckee (Stanford, 2025-01-21)

This venue offers an opportunity to performers. It helps them pursue their passion for music. There are many talented people out there and opportunities are limited, they should be encouraged not have it taken away? I have no doubt that the majority feel the same.Anthony Krut (Stanford, 2025-01-21)

The Sunday live music provides a unique and invaluable opportunity for our community to come together and it creates a space where neighbours can connect, relax and enjoy the incredible talent of our local artists. This tradition fosters a sense of unity and belonging, something that is increasingly rare and fast paces world, and something we value in Stanford where we are all about preserving our heritage, and I think what La Cantina has managed to do is create an important cultural experience open to everyone in Stanford.Janine Bergh (Stanford, 2025-01-21)

I am tired of the Stanford mafiacalling the shots.
Always complaining about everything. Residents can't stand to see other people enjoying themselves. This is not a security village where you sign up to bide by the rules.

Stanford is my home, I am 26 yesrs of age. And travel to Stanford frequently from working abroad. Stanford is a quiet village and need some fun and creative, artistic activities to persue as place of residence and enjoyment for not only young, but middle aged young souls. It is highly important that Stanford does not turn into a grave yard because residence want peace and quite, it is essential for any town or village to have a sense of entertainment for enjoyment. I am signing this petition because of all the benefits live music on Sundays would bring to Stanford and business.Johan Greyling (Manama, 2025-01-21)

I believe La Cantina is a fantastic addition to what makes Stanford, well, Stanford! The Sunday music events have become an integral part in how we as a community come together and socialise. It would be a great shame to lose these events due to policies that don’t favour the community’s social unity.Reuben Burls (Stanford, 2025-01-21)

If these draconian "no music" laws or prohibition thereof are to stay, whoever applied it, will soon se that there is no music at the monthly sunset market or even in local churches. In a democracy, the majority votes need to be taken in consideration before a few gets there view.Stiaan Pool (Stanford, 2025-01-21)

I feel Lynn and Mark should be supported as well as the artists, waitresses and kitchen staff, as locals, as well as visitorsare very grateful to have free entry to live music performances, enjoy good food, and share relaxing time with friends. I do understand late night loud music is disruptive for neighbours, but 3 hours on a Sunday afternoon should be acceptable. Thank you

The Sunday live music @ LaCatina became part of Stanford villag attracting visitors at the same time which has great economic spin offs too.The owners of Cantina had the courage and the chutzpah to turn an empty desolate spot into a thriving and buzzing place, one that we are all proud of. In return for this gift of culture, music and community we support all their efforts to keep this Sunday tradition going.
Madaleine Pool (Stanford, 2025-01-22)

We go to listen to the live music almost every weekend. Great place to meet up with friends and have a social afternoon. The music does not go on until late, so I can't see why it should not be allowed. Musicians also need to make a living.Jane Paterson (STANFORD, 2025-01-22)

Music is an universal language that brings people together. It not only uplifts the community but it gives our artist a platform to show of their talent, it gives them a platform to show the world how beautiful diverse our culture is. People come from all over to visit Stanford for the beauty and the culture (Lacantina and Sunday sessions is one of them) it brings people together through everything they love. Stanford will not be the same without it.Roelien Campher (Stanford, Cape Town, 2025-01-22)

In a village where restaurants and businesses struggle, every support should be given! They have found a winning formula and deserve support from authorities for providing a draw card to the village through the provision of Arts and Culture.

We recently visited Stanford for a week and this was one of our highlights. Such an amazing community feel where everyone comes together and meets one another. Even as visitors we met so many of the locals. We were staying in the Airbnb right next door and the music was hardly audible from our cottage. This is exactly what a small town like Stanford needs to build spirit and welcome visiting guests. There is nothing like a little music to bring people together.Maryann Veitch (Cape Town, 2025-01-22)

As a recent visitor to Stanford we thoroughly enjoyed the live music at La Cantina. It was well attended and everyone thoroughly enjoyed the three hours of live entertainment. It certainly was not rowdy, which I can vouch for as we were staying in a cottage right next to La Cantina.Terry Veitch (Cape Town, 2025-01-22)

The La Cantina Sunday live music sessions have become a particularly special and cheerful addition to the Stanford calendar for locals and visitors of all ages and backgrounds. The music is non-polarising and the lineup often features local talent. What a great way to see out the week. I struggle to see how anyone could take issue with such a wholesome, positive community oriented calendar event.Alexis Beckett (Stanford, 2025-01-22)

#176
I’m signing here because I am a musician as well as a lover of a warm vibe. To take music out of public space is like taking colour out of home decor - why would you want to rid your space of warmth??Whoever has lodged a complaint has an ascetic nature - great for monasteries (even THEY have chanting) but not restaurants nor thriving communities - the whole reason the Stanford lights worked so well to draw visitors and pull the community together was their warmth, sparkle and heart string-pulling effect, exactly the same was what current research shows is the effect of music on our lives
It is no small wonder that music therapy (my university training in Canada) and health & neurological sciences have come together to explore one of the most natural and culturally accepted phenomena of healthy communities and positive aging
I hope one day to play at La Cantina with my singer songwriter acoustic guitar+ voice originals - how better to transform hurt and setbacks into beauty?
Dan Levin (Hermanus, 2025-01-23)

La Cantina has afforded my band a few nights over the last few years to perform while we have been on nationwide tours. Their venue offers a much-needed "fuel stop" on our route between Garden Route and Cape Town engagements. Without this opportunity to put some money towards our travels, our tours would run the risk of being uneconomical. We (and the owners) have alwys been respectful of noise levels and operating hours. We all understand that in order to survive, each must honour the other. I look forward to amicable resolution.
Kerry Hiles (East london, 2025-01-26)

I’m signing because I’m a musician and playing at LaCantina has been a way to create income. If there is not going to be live music, artist like me will hardly be able to pay our bills.Divine Mahara (Genadendal, 2025-01-26)
