One person on the golf course would be ok to maintain greens that would cost hundreds of thousands to redo otherwise.Fleur Tuck (Auckland, 2020-04-09)

I’m a Life Member of Royal Wellington Golf Club and a Life Member of Wellington Golf Referees Association. Having been on those committees for many years and on the executive of Wellington Golf Inc for 9 years, I have real knowledge of how crucial regular grass maintenance is particularly to the putting greens. If a green is “lost”, it could take months (or longer) and thousands of dollars to rescue the green. Golf is widely enjoyed and together with pastimes such as bowls and croquet, is vital for the health of citizens (and voters). Please permit maintenance work at my golf club and others. RegardsMurray Radford (Wellington, 2020-04-09)

This seems a no-brainer. Greenkeepers are alone on a green. They can save clubs millions in long term catchup by getting onto our greens again nowRex Nicholls (Wellington, 2020-04-09)

Sporting activities after lockdown will be vital to people’s wellbeing as such maintain facilities so people can straight away seems logical. It also lessens the work and damage to golf courses in the long term.Nic Andersen (Lower Hutt, 2020-04-09)

I am a member of Paraparaumu Beach Golf Club and live next to the course. I have been keeping a close eye on the state of the course and as lucky as we are that our course is generally in great condition it is starting to lose traction now. If left much longer which just be a lot harder to recover from. If even just one greenkeeper on the course that would be amazing.Paula Thomson (Wellington, 2020-04-09)

Financial impact and lengthy delays to restart.Mark Scott (Auckland, 2020-04-09)

I am of the opinion that essential staff doing essential mainteneance af our golf course are not endangering themsleves nor another person they may come accross.Rue Bourke (Wellington, 2020-04-09)

The maintenance is so essential.Thankyou.

I'm signing because it is absurd not to allow one person to mow a golf course when people are coming in from overseas and are in the supermarkets the next day.Irrepairable damage will occurr
Will govt compensate ?
Richard Tyler (Wellington, 2020-04-09)

I am a member of a rural golf course which is a significant part of our community. The potential cost to recover the course would impact the ongoing viability of the club and cause social hardship to our community.Karen Stephens (Martinborough, 2020-04-09)
#3047
I agreekeith Stewart (Auckland, 2020-04-09)
#3048
There is so much hard work that goes into building / maintaining a great golf course. I can bare the though of all that hard work being undone at my club (Christchurch) and every other club around NZ! We all want to come back to the game asap and this would make things a hell of a lot easier and save many courses from irreversible damage!Brad Clark (Christchurch, 2020-04-09)
#3050
I know how difficult it will be for some rural courses to recover from this. Some will not.As long as the social distancing requirement is met, then I believe this should be possible with no additional risk
Brian Barsdell (Tauranga, 2020-04-09)

Greens need to be maintained in order for them to be able to be used.. This is an independent job - non contact and essential for community peace and togetherness. Please let the Greens keepers maintain the greens, be it Golf or bowls during this lockdown period. It’s not spreading the virus just keeping NZ beautiful for further events.Anna Kaczorowski (Upper Hutt, 2020-04-09)
#3052
Golf courses and Bowling Clubs are essential for the Health and Well Being of their respective members. When one considers that the membership has a lot of aged, retired people within them that only have the opportunity to go out, be active and socialise through Golf and Bowling Clubs it is critical that disruption is kept to the minimum, for the sanity and mental health of these people.George Andrew Laurenson (Waikanae, 2020-04-09)
#3054
A man on a mower can be completely self isolating for a golf course so there is no reason why this should not be able to continue. Not maintaining the greens will cause millions of dollars of damage to the country’s golf courses for no reasonable reasonCarron Prentice (Auckland, 2020-04-09)
#3055
I support the relaxation of current rules so that golf clubs and bowling clubs can resume limited course and greens maintenance, as long as other current rules on physical distancing and hygeine are maintained.Phil White (Kapiti District, 2020-04-09)
#3057
I am a member at Christchurch and Clearwater Golf clubs - maintenance should be allowed. My membership numbers are 1363750 and 5503103John Boyle (Christchurch, 2020-04-09)
#3059
I support that green keepers should be allowed minimum access to courses to maintain the greens.Brian Nightingale (Lower Hutt, 2020-04-09)
#3060
Playing golf is an important part of my life for fitness and social wellbeing. The potential for the loss of our club is high and I believe allowing a single person to manage the greens has little risk.Derek Stephens (Martinborough, 2020-04-09)
#3064
I am signing this because the maintenance of the golf course, carried out by green keeping staff working by themselves will not pose a hazard to the public and community spread of COVID19. It will mean though that the courses around NZ will be ready to be useable after restrictions are lifted.Angela Banks (Lower Hutt, 2020-04-09)
#3066
We need our course when the lockdown finishesNeil Ludlam (Warkworth, 2020-04-09)
#3067
I am not a golfer, however my son and husband are. It seems to me essential that one groundsman be allowed onto every golf (and bowling) course to maintain a very valuable resource (both socially and economically). There is no risk to anyone else if one person was maintaining these greens.Catherine Burt (Wellington, 2020-04-09)
#3068
This part of NZs recovery phase but must be done soon to avoid disaster. Our greenkeeper (singular) does not have to interact with anyone else to do this essential maintenanceClyde McLeod (Wellington, 2020-04-09)
#3069
I'm signing this petition as I believe that one person providing basic maintenance to the greens will mean the course can be restored quickly following the lifting of the lockdown.Bruce Ivamy (Wellington, 2020-04-09)

Sport is a major element that will contribute to New Zealanders returning to a normal life once this is over. Therefore the assets that allow that to happen should be protected.William Kwan (Wellington, 2020-04-09)
#3076
I'm signing because it seems illogical to pile huge costs on community facilities, when there is very little infection danger for greenkeepers working outside of 2 meters from each other, and that is the normMichael Wiggins (Lower Hutt, 2020-04-09)
#3077
The cost of repairing neglected greens, etc will be completely out of the reach of most if not all sports clubs in NZ.Ron Duffy (Auckland, 2020-04-09)
#3078
I don't want to see people's health suffer, livelihoods suffer and ultimately the courses shut down for longer than the period of lock down if they need to spend weeks undoing all of the damage. If a weekend warrior can still do the same around their house why prevent courses doing the same. And they do it safer that an idiot on a ladder with a chainsaw.Jaz Hector (Christchurch, 2020-04-09)
#3081
I need golf when this lockdown is lifted. Golf is my life!Lauren Tapp (Christchurch, 2020-04-09)
#3083
Golf courses will be essential for the MENTAL WELBEING as we exit. The on-going damage to the golf courses will cost a lot of money, which golf clubs simply do not have and it will lead to the financial collapse of many.Roger Simmons (Lower Hutt, 2020-04-09)
#3084
We really need this.Edward Garay (Wellington, 2020-04-09)

Essential to maintain courses throughout the country. Minimal risk to skeleton staff required to do so.Denis Cox (Wellington, 2020-04-09)
#3091
This action is essential for the preservation of the game and will not present any risk to the covig 19 effortJeff Ogg (Masterton, 2020-04-09)
#3096
There is no risk to spreading C-virus if the work is done sensibly within national guidelines of distance separation. The downside of not doing the maintenance work is unnecessary cost to players.Roger Feast (Lower Hutt, 2020-04-09)
#3099
Golf courses are a big pat of NZ world class and is vital they are maintainedcallum white (Dunedin, 2020-04-09)
#3102
I am signing this because the ruling provided doesn’t take into consideration the importance of of issue. There are double standard in relation to who can and cannot be classified at essential workers. This work by green staff is essential to the health and wellbeing of golf membershipsTony Moore (Wellington, 2020-04-09)
#3103
Most golf clubs are in a poor financial position and the cost of bringing them back to an acceptable standard will be beyond the means of a lot of clubs. Therefore the close and the area loses a vital recreational area especially utilised by the older generationRichard Maddren (Wellington, 2020-04-09)
#3105
It is not risk to allow one person on the course to maintain the greens. Not to do so would be very damaging for the greens.Stewart Baillie (Wellington, 2020-04-09)
#3108
It is ridiculous to permit the council to maintain berms with teams of workers and prevent greenkeepers (acting in isolation) to maintain greens on golf courses and bowling greens.John Mew (Omaha, 2020-04-09)
#3109
I belive gren keepers should be able to mow greens. They will be working on there own. Also the cost to clubs to bring them back to playing condition will be too greatDarryl Coley (Masterton, 2020-04-09)
#3112
Let’s not forget about all the golf club caterers that will be loosing there incomes and businesses if the golf clubs can’t re open due to the greensSheree Roberts (Christchurch, 2020-04-09)
#3114
Some maintenance of more complex areas like Greens is needed at many if not all Golf courses. That kind of work can be done by one single person free of risk for the worker, sho would be much less exposed than going to a supermarket, and it would allow for Gilf Ckubs to be ready to resume activities as soon as Lockdown is over. Being able to go back to normal work as soon as it is allowed will also ensure that jobs would be back for the members of the staff without delays and for the government to save some money in subsidies to cover for income losses of people out of work or with their jobs suspended by the emergency lockdown.Luis Lillo (Lower Hutt, 2020-04-09)
#3117
If this doesn't happen it could cost millions to get courses back to a workable conditionRoss Dimery (Auckland, 2020-04-09)
#3120
I'm signing because it's common knowledge, golf is hugely participated by more elderly than younger people and after lockdown finishes will be mentally drained. Every opportunity should be taken (safely) to get the courses maintained.Wayne Mudgway (Hastings, 2020-04-09)
#3122
The risks are incredibly low and the cost of not maintaining substantialDave Thompson (Auckland, 2020-04-09)
#3123
I support this request because if left untended my golf club which employs 12 people will not be able to afford to maintain their employment given the cost of restoring the course to the expectations of players. Like many clubs ours is on a knife edge financially. The MBIE decision not to allow one person to do minor but essential maintenance is ludicrous in terms of thezero health risks and the potentially terminal effects for clubs and the loss of jobs.
Neville Harris (Lower Hutt, 2020-04-09)
#3131
There can be to much damage to courses if the Greenkeepers can’t mow the greens. And a lot of courses may not be able to survive.John Bowden (Christchurch, 2020-04-09)
#3135
The financial impact this decision will have on golf courses around the country far outweighs the minimal health risk that is posed by allowing one or more workers onto a golf course to maintain the grounds during the lockdown.CHARLIE WILTON (Auckland, 2020-04-09)
#3140
I’m signing because of the huge numbers of recreational players in NZ who enjoy getting outside and getting our social and exercise times done in a safe environment. The monetary cost of not mowing and servicing the grasses could close many venues which is such a waste.Liz McJorrow (Lower Hutt, 2020-04-09)
#3142
If it is possible to set up a safe system to enable the basic maintenance to save our courses then it makes absolute sense to do so. Please reconsider.Ian Douglas (Wellington, 2020-04-09)
#3147
Golf greens need to be mowed and sprayed at a minimum. The country can't afford for half the golf courses and their staff to be forced to close. Once greens are gone it can take a huge amount of time and money to recover. If public parks and reserves are being upkept, so should golf courses and bowling greens.Anne Dick (Christcrhuch, 2020-04-09)
#3152
It would be a waste of money to allow the courses to go into a state where it would cost to get them back to originalLinda Fraser (Tauranga, 2020-04-09)
#3153
We need to get greens maintained with fungicides and control.Gavin Corbett (Auckland, 2020-04-09)
#3158
This can be done safely - one person or bubble already living on site so no risk of mixing with other people plus it makes economic and social sense as a little bit of maintenance now will save a lot of time and money later and get people back playing golf sooner.Sandy Wills (Wellington, 2020-04-09)
#3159
It make's senseMohan Ball (Auckland, 2020-04-09)
#3162
It is a logical decision which if administered correctly will not cause the spread of Covid-19Jeff Mason (Wellington, 2020-04-09)
#3166
Not as a golfer but as someone who appreciates sensible decisions being made & money not wastedBarb Nicol (Martinborough, 2020-04-09)
#3171
Having one person on the course isn’t going to spread corona virus! Lots of golf clubs are going to suffer incredibly with the amount of loss due to no golf they shouldn’t have to lose their golf course to! Maintenance is key in golf, a over grown golf course isn’t going to attract people back! The decline in the sport will b crazy!Mia Scrimgeour (Wellington, 2020-04-09)
#3174
We all need to save our golf clubs.Yoshi Tamaki (Christchurch, 2020-04-09)
#3178
I’m signing because golf courses are important for health and wellbeing and already under considerable financial pressure. It makes sense to have at least one person on site to perform general upkeep during the lockdown period.Philip Stace (Lower Hutt, 2020-04-09)
#3179
Golf courses should be able to resume "business as usual" as soon as possible once this current state of emergency is over. Lack of maintenance while our courses are out of play will only result in prolonging the time when players can actually return to the fairways and club houses.WILLIAM LOWE (North Shore City, 2020-04-09)
#3186
It’s a no brainerDon Caskey (New Ply, 2020-04-09)

A man driving a tractor can't contract COVID 19.Grant Morris (Auckland, 2020-04-09)
#3190
I'm signing this petition because it is essential for green keepers to maintain golf courses, greens in particular, during lockdown. Otherwise many golf courses will close down, as it will be too costly to re-establish greens and fairways.Harald Andersen (Sandspit, Warkworth, 2020-04-09)
#3193
Low risk solo activities should be allowed if they are: high $$ value, affect many people.Jayden Ravji (Wellington, 2020-04-09)

#3199
Turf maintenance should be an essential serviceMichelle Curtis (Beachlands, 2020-04-09)
#3200
The Government should get real as there is no risk whatever in allowing our greens to be saved. It will show more benefit politically to allow it, than all the money wasted unnecessarily on beneficiaries.Robert Armstrong (Wellington, 2020-04-09)
