Any business that can run safely and in this case the product will be ruined should be able to open. Can’t see it being much different than harvesting grapes. Good luck.Jenny Amies (Auckland, 2021-09-11)

Its outrageous that flower growers are threatened at a time when flowers are our only recourse to support loved ones at funerals and other occasions during lockdown.Leonard Old (Eltham, 2021-09-11)

Flowers can be easily organized for contactless delivery. It’s such a waste for such beautiful flowers to be going to waste and for the growers to be loosing money when this is the caseKate Coppens (Auckland, 2021-09-11)

I occasionally work in floristry and know how hard and expensive it is for florists to grow their beautiful product and there is only a limited season for them to make a profit (mainly spring/summer).Flowers are a perishable item with only a small window of time to be sold/used unlike other items that are allowed to be sold during lockdown.
I also truly believe in the power of flowers to lift people’s moods/brighten their day which is so important during these times.
If I can order soft toys online and have them delivered I don’t understand why I can’t order flowers!

I’m signing because I good friend of mine runs a small flower business and I’ve had to watch her throw away thousands of flower stems weekly when contactless delivery would be safe and easy - the overlooking of the flower Industry during lockdown simply isn’t fair.Willow Whitham (Auckland, 2021-09-11)

I support the the flower growers here in Aotearoa - as ‘perishable goods’ beautiful blooms should not be going to waste, the time, the effort, the money and the love all going to the ground is such a an awful shame. Putiputi help to brighten moods and goodness know we could all do with a little lift of spirits at these times.I support contactless deliveries of New Zealand grown cut flowers in Level 3 and 4!

1 - it is outrageous that these growers have worked so hard months for their profits literally to go in the bin2 - I for one would ahead adored flowers my home for lockdown. They bring me so much beauty into the home
3 - it would be absolutely possible for the growers to sell contactless.

Flowers are important to mental health and if nothing else should continue to be sold through supermarkets and dairies. They should also be able to be sold on line. It's astounding that dairies and supermarkets can sell lollies and cigarettes at level 4 but they can't sell flowers which bring g joy to people at level 4.Elspeth McMillan (Wellington, 2021-09-11)

These businesses should be Ble yo sell their product under Level 4.Pauline Miller (Nelson, 2021-09-11)

Flower growers are horticulturalists and it doesn’t make sense to have them lose their livelihoods during a lockdown. You can’t just manufacture more fresh flowers. We should be trying to keep as many industries going as safely possible during any lockdown. It makes economic sense.Nicola Alpe (Taupo, 2021-09-11)

The flower industry in NZ is small and L4 restrictions on growers will inevitably wipe it out. It’s heart breaking for farmers to be harvesting thousands of dollars of crop to throw it straight into the compost. The sad timing of spring and L4 means there is an abundance stunning flowers. Many flower farmers will be able to safely distribute these amazing flowers in the same way other (essential) farmers distribute their perishable goods.
Please reconsider the L4 restrictions on flower farmers and growers and the impact on the future of the flower industry in NZ.

This industry needs our help. Their product is perishable and smaller businesses that can prove they can operate with skeleton staff to save their business and livelihood should be able to do soHelene Wilkinson (Point Chevalier, 2021-09-12)

Flowers are perishable. Farmers can’t stop them growing to accommodate lockdowns. Bakers use dry ingredients that can be safely stored during lockdowns and yet they’re considered essential ?!? Flowers brighten up people’s daily lives and would uplift the mental state of people doing it tough in lockdown.Eve Goldsworthy (Auckland, 2021-09-12)
