My dad and husband love golf. It’s one person needed to maintain the greens. No contact with others. More jobs saved.

I’m signing because the cost to golf clubs and the community will be far higher if the green keepers are unable to do their job. Simply let them mow the greens and keep their distance and will be ok. It seems abit ridiculous they arnt allowed to considering the council is allowed to mow their lawns.

It seems to make no sense to let these valuable facilities to fall into ruin when they can be easily and safely maintained. Safe distances can be maintained and people gainfully employes. Let’s just apply some kiwi common sense.

Signing because I don’t want to see our golf courses ruined when the risk of infection is next to zero

Cameron Gumbley (Auckland, 2020-04-09)

Maintenance activities can be conducted safely at Level 4 and the significant economic impact should be balanced against the negligible risk of safe work practices at each course

As a retiree , golf is one of the few activities I am able to enjoy for both the exercise and the company of others of similar age. Should my local course be out of commission for any length of time , or even forced to close , all players would be disappointed .
I can understand the need to isolate at this time , but allowing green keeping staff to mow greens and fairways would be far better than customers standing in a queue at a supermarket. One operator on one machine mowing alone makes sense.
As for saying it is a none essential operation, maybe , but we are encouraged to exercise and once the lock down is lifted we all want to get back to normal as soon as possible .

Its important to maintain golf courses at some level that enables golf to be played after the lockdown. If not, it will be impossible financially to bring back the cources.

The damage to the golf course across the nation from an inaction will cost the industry months of recovery, and as New Zealand’s highest played recreational sport, we need to protect it. Without play, all that would be required would be a skeleton crew of green staff to save the game of golf from irreversible damage.

Ben Seely (Auckland, 2020-04-09)

I support essential maintenance of golf courses (greens and fsirwsys) during this lockdown.

Nigel Lyne (Lower Hutt, 2020-04-09)

#3615

I can't stand to see all the good work be destroyed and the golf greens go into such a state of disrepair that will take months to repair.

Short term maintenance will have long term rewards.. this needs to be looked at.

Geoff Askew (Wellington, 2020-04-09)

the cost and time to fix this will be millions of dollars. some of the smaller clubs out in the country areas only have 1 keeper. NZ has some of the best in the world these have taken years to get to the standards they were in. Many will not be play able to recover from this. green keeper work as a team not in each others bubbles. Lets fix this ASAP

Golf clubs are isolated and big enough to allow social distancing

I agree that golf courses should be maintained during the lock-down. Golf courses are large areas and the work can easily be carried out maintaining safe social distances.

Member of titahi bay golf course our course needs to be mowed and our greens need there weekly maintenance please.

Cory Pohatu (Wellington, 2020-04-09)

#3625

We need to maintain our golf courses. It can cost hundreds of thousands if we wait.

William Milligan (Kaiapoi, 2020-04-09)

#3627

Allowing this will help save the course for use after the lockdown finishes and will not break the 'bubble' of the greenkeeper involved. It is also safer than when he/she goes to the supermarket.

Golf courses are important to upkeep

Jill Simpson (Tauranga, 2020-04-09)

#3629

NZ golf courses need to be looked after during Covid or many clubs may never recover their greens.

I'm signing because I'm a keen golfer and understand the importance of maintaining the greens, especially, during the lockdown period.
Thankyou

Council are mowing public spaces, this is a public space

Tim Clark (Auckland, 2020-04-09)

#3634

The cost of zero green maintenance during lockdown to our club will be significant and would greatly delay restarting the game.

William Sommerville (wellington, 2020-04-09)

#3637

The greens especially are a prized and highly maintained part of the course, they would take many months and a lot of money to regain their original condition.

Paul Sainty (Paraparaumu, 2020-04-10)

#3638

Our club wants routine maintenance to continue to prevent the demise of our fairways and greens. The expendditure and labour input
to reinstate the course would be a financial burden. We want our
members to enjoy their regular games of golf as soon as possible for their physical and mental wellbeing

Golf course maintenance should carry on work procedures during this lockdown period, there is minimal risk. So to speak, Keeping all courses closed to the public, no public access or treating it like a park to walk the dog. The Superintendent or Head Greenkeeper can continue with work. This is ideal for clubs with solo-head Greenkeepers who rely on
Volunteers as the course can be apart of their own bubble. If alot also live on site so that's having the course as their backyard. If you can set up a safe sanitizing plan for more workers to be involved then that will help the boss out with workload.
When mowing they are on there own machine keeping distance from others. Seems quite a legitimate reason to me during a serious time.

Kurtis Tautuhi (Wellington, 2020-04-10)

#3644

Golf course are essential for exercise & they need to up keep the courses for when this crazy COVID 19 finishes.

Keri Pirini (Perth, 2020-04-10)

#3645

I play golf sporadically but understand ground maintenance and the work and money required to get greenery back to standard.

Andy Macgregor (Christchurxh, 2020-04-10)

#3646

Keep our golf clubs ticking over

Rob Cruickshank (Wellington, 2020-04-10)

#3648

I'm signing as if we don't have greens to play on and a good level of quality, there will be no use playing for a year. Dropping membership and if others have the same view clubs will struggle even more than they are already.

Alan Brighouse (Kapiti, 2020-04-11)

#3649

I work in the golf industry. I would see a continuation of the restriction as jeopardizing the health and jobs of many people.

Alan Golder (Auckland, 2020-04-11)

#3650

I have signed because golf is such an enjoyable, healthy and challenging game. Courses must be regularly maintained and greenkeepers can keep sensible, safe distances when doing this . If they are left the cost of getting them back to standard would be high. Many courses already struggle financially.

Andrea Harborne (Auckland, 2020-04-11)

#3656

For the sake of one person a few times a week being allowed to take care of only the greens it should be allowed

Peter Bishop (Auckland, 2020-04-13)

#3658

Are green keeper.

Chris Kirkup (Auck, 2020-04-13)

#3660

I play golf lots of green keepers would live close to work. Only needs to be one person there at a time. Just enough to keep it ticking along ok

Gareth Hughes (Patea, 2020-04-14)

#3661

My husband maintains the greens at our local course and he is very upset about the state they are getting into which could cause major damage to them. The course would have very limited funds( if any) to repair all the damage.

Abina Jones (Christchurch, 2020-04-14)

#3664

it seems foolish to allow decades of work to be undone in such a short period of time

Robert Greer (Wellington, 2020-04-18)

Common sense needs to prevail .⛳😷👍
