I am writing with heartfelt support for La Cantina to be allowed to continue hosting live music. This isn't just about the restaurant; it's about the heartbeat of our community. Live music has a unique way of bringing people together, creating memories, and fostering a vibrant atmosphere that can attract visitors and breathe life into our town.As a musician, having a venue like La Cantina is essential for sharing our art and connecting with our audience. Despite no longer residing in Stanford, I carry with me fond memories of my time growing up there, where entertainment options were few and far between. Taking away live music would strip the town of one of its few cultural joys, especially now as Stanford is blossoming into a must-visit destination in the Overberg area.
I implore the relevant authorities to reconsider their decision and allow La Cantina to continue offering live music. This isn't just about a license—it's about preserving a cherished piece of our community and supporting local talent.

Music is an intergral part of the human race and to not have it in society be it live or otherwise will be the undoing of the arts. I accept that noise limitations are required in certain areas but to take a blanket approach and shut it all down starts to invoke the attitudes of Adolf and communisim which we have fought so hard against. I beleive that the complainant should also be exposed so that one can challange the mindset. Just because one person complains it does not mean the hundreds or thousands that disagree with the policy shoud suffer. We need proof not just hearsayDavid Meagan (Hermanus, 2025-01-27)

I'm signing because I support this petition. Live music should be allowed in public places and areas. Theres so much bad things happening all around us which should be ended, live music is NOT one of them. Artists should not be stopped from sharing their talents and uplifting people's spirits.Johlene De Koker (Fisherhaven, 2025-01-28)

I feel government is completely overstepping their authority. In fact, I think they are completely disillusioned as to their job. You are there to serve the nation, not dictate to us and threaten our ability to make a living and enjoy ourselves responsibly. Stop pandering to your NWO masters and start serving the people whose money you spend wastefully. This country will NEVER be in lockstep with your satanic vision, so please, stop it, or we will stop you. This is not a threat, it us a promise. Do not underestimate our resilience or ability to actually gang up on you and physically remove you from office. You've been warned.Jaqueline Smit (Hernanus, 2025-01-30)

I believe it would be in Stanford and Overstrand’s best interest to allow for and support local live music events, as it not only adds character to this little town, but it also draws people to the area and in doing so promotes a healthier microeconomy in an otherwise financially sparse area.Natasha van Graan (Hermanus, 2025-01-31)

Small towns needs to have aspects of community; which require community engagement in the form of recreational activities such as live music events. This increases a feeling of inclusion and creates an outlet for creativity. This is necessary to uplift people and provide hope as it can be isolating for many. It provides a healthy reason to socialise and come together for a common purpose.I think it's very sad that people want to shut down something that has been only positive and an improvement. Not to mention, many musicians need a platform to perform, and possibly earn some cash. In general, South Africa has been implementing unfair practises to reduce the access for musicians in public spaces. It is incredibly difficult to gain a license to perform/busk, and for many not possible at all as it involves lots of red tape, waiting, time and money to get to the office to apply, etc. Not only does it increase the capitalisation of music events, it pushes musicians further from generating income and doesn't encourage community involvement. It sends a message that live musicians aren't appreciated in today's world and not valuable members of society.

I'm signing this because I'm also a natural born musician who studied music ever since I was 6 years old.I have performed at La Cantina and are truly grateful for venues and venue owners & managers who allow us an opportunity to do our job what we were born to do...uplift through music, spread love and joy, and allow people to forget about the challenges of Livfe for at least those few hours. Build friendships and community spirit. I feel the community or member who complained should bare all inclusiveness and democracy in mind.
I am a musician and teacher by occupation and have every right to work, as much as a builder with his noisy tools are every day from 7am till 7pm. We're asking for 3 hours a wk!
