Philosophers are used to thinking about possible better worlds. Yet they should do so with far more loving concern for our real world - the only one we can put our feet on.

As a philosopher and as a human being (the Stoics remind us of this) I feel myself a "citizen of the world".
And this world is one, unique and common heritage of all.

I strongly support all the "x for future" movements. We carry responsibility for our environment, for non-human being, for us, for our children and for those to come.

Philosophers need to do more to engage with pressing social issues such as the climate crisis.

I'm signing because the climate crisis is real and changes made now support the youth of tomorrow. Older generations tend to possess the attitude, "I won't be here - so I don't care," which is not only adultist it sends a clear message to the youth of future generations that they simply don't matter disconnecting our future leaders from the aging populations making such decisions now.

Climate crisis is a topic we cannot ignore any longer and I am missing the philosophical dicourse on climate ethics and environmental ethics in general. I have participated in may demonstrations but it is not enough- We philosophers need to reflect and investigate much more in this field. And I am signig because I am willing to do that.

I am signing because I think that as philosophers and as intellectuals we have the responsibility to speak up for the future of our planet.

(Vienna, 2019-06-03)

I'm signing because "the future belongs to the phantoms" (Derrida) that are yet to come, not those of the past which haunt(s) us.

It's the very least we can do to support students and others who are committed to this cause.
