I support my professors from Concordia University of Edmonton. I wish things get fortunate for our professors soon.Jaismeen Saini (Edmonton, 2022-01-03)

I believe that my professors and other faculty members that have aided in my development during my undergrad deserve fair and proper compensation for their efforts just like every other university does.Kaeli Mask (Edmonton, 2022-01-03)

Professors and faculty are the people who directly interact with students, daily. They are the ones who hold the most influence over education and student success and they also hold a large workload. For these reasons, they deserve to be compensated and treated fairly.Lauren Wesley (Edmotnon, 2022-01-03)

I stand with the faculty and support what they are fighting for.Justine Cramp (Gibbons, 2022-01-03)

I believe that in order for the faculty to become effective educators the administration must create a atmosphere where they feel valued. By agreeing to the requests only benefits the students.Rachel Graham (Edmonton, 2022-01-03)

As an alumna and former President of the Students' Association, I know that the professors at Concordia are its defining feature as an institution. The mere fact that the administration has allowed things to get to this point shows a disregard for the cumulative and formative role that faculty play in a student's education. A university is an educational institution, and without professors, it cannot hope to fulfill its mission and vision as an institution or its legislative mandate. Concordia students want to receive a high quality education in small classes from professors that are treated with respect and paid fairly. And Concordia Alumni want CUE to continue its legacy of providing students with high quality education so that our degrees from Concordia still stand for something in the future.Kelsea Gillespie (Ottawa, 2022-01-03)

The faculty deserves to be heard and respected. They should be able to support their families while only working at one university, and not multiple to earn a living.Brooke O’Neill (Sherwood Park, 2022-01-04)

As a former Concordia student, I know that my professors and instructors worked hard - in music that was specifically so, where courses are only 1.5 credit hours instead of 3 but involve often 5 or 6 times the work (if you’re lucky). Add in the switch to online course work and a global pandemic - the work load is enormous. Instructors deserve to be fairly compensated for their time and their expertise.Nicole TOUPIN

The faculty are what makes the experience at CUE. The institution charges so much for tuition, it’s unbelievable CUE is ranked so low on work to pay ratio.Natasha Eklund (Edmonton, 2022-01-04)

I believe in CUE and it's mission. I also believe that if CUE is a great institution, it is because of the preofessors. I totally support them.Rock Larochelle (Edmonton, 2022-01-04)

Our universities are under attack from all sides. Staff are being asked to accept worse pay, less resources, and increased workloads, while students are burdened with higher tuition and worse education. Education should be the goal of universities - not turning a profit!Jon Wild (Edmonton, 2022-01-04)

I stand with CUE faculty. Their teaching conditions are our learning conditions.Anna Lueck (Edmonton, 2022-01-04)

CUE faculty deserve fair compensation and workloads. Unfair low salaries, and overwork of faculty hurt CUE (faculty, students, alumni, and the CUE Mission) more than a potential strike would.Teaching and learning is a relationship that is, at its core, between students and faculty. The CUE administration’s responsibility is to create an environment and community that allows this relationship to flourish; however, the CUE administration's treatment of faculty in regards to workload and compensation is damaging that relationship.
Increasing enrollment and expanding the campus are important steps in growing the CUE community, but neither inherently foster the quality teacher/learner relationship that has both defined CUE in the past, and will surely be at heart of any future “pre-eminent small university”.
As a proud alumnus, I want CUE to grow, not become a larger shell of what it has been. I support CUE’s faculty and the CUEFA.

I support my professors judgment. They are with us everyday and deserve more pay and less work.Veronica Skuban (Westlock, 2022-01-04)

At a time when all universities in this province should be united against the cuts causing the harm, we have to deal with this.Treat your people fairly, stop expecting faculty to make all the sacrifices. Get this sorted and put your efforts where they belong.
Working conditions are learning conditions and none of that happens without happy faculty and students.

I am an alumnus and support the faculty striking. They deserve to be treated with dignity and respect. They are the lifeblood of the institution.Rebecca Firlotte (Edmonton, 2022-01-04)

We pay a higher tuition for small class sizes and outstanding professors. To find out that our professors and faculty members not being compensated equal to other comparable post-secondary institutions is utterly preposterous. The administration needs to show gratitude and respect to the faculty of Concordia University of Edmonton. Pay them what they're worth; which is clearly much more than you are giving them.Kaitlyn Burry (St.Albert, 2022-01-04)

I am a student with disabilities and I depend on my professors being able to accommodate me. In the past I have taken full advantage of my status to ensure that I am capable of asking for help when I need it. Some of my accommodations are solely up to the faculty's discretion, but to my amazement so many of my professors have gone out of their way to help me one-on-one and accommodate me despite having heavy workloads. I have been in offices in tears over assignments and had them gently explained to me, broken down bit by bit. I have lost assignments, forgot deadlines, missed exams and while many professors were gentle with their disciplinary action, many more understood and did all they could to help me. Even professors from other classes have gone out of their way to help me on projects. I will always be grateful to one professor in the English department who gave me advice on an essay for another class, and that essay was the first one I ever got a perfect score on. My family still brags about that accomplishment to this day. The faculty, the professors who have done so much for me should be paid fairly. They deserve it.Nicole Beaver (Edmonton, 2022-01-04)

As an Alumna and past CSA student union leader, I know CUE's Professors and staff are its defining feature as an education facility. Without its teachers and staff, it is not able to provide the very thing the institution was meant to do. We went to CUE for its small class sizes and personable professors and staff. Without them CUE is just a building. We want CUE to continue its legacy of providing students with high quality of education, so that our degrees from CUE will still stand for something in the future.Natasha Miller (Edmonton, 2022-01-04)

The faculty is the heart of Concordia, and they are the ones in charge of students' education. They deserve to be treated fairly (at the very least), with comparable wages, a smaller workload, and job security.Shannon Lucas (Edmonton, 2022-01-04)

Knowing the professors personally, they are resonable and grounded people. They show understanding and paitence with the students, so to hear that any of the professors are unresonable does not sound correct. If they are asking for a proper raise for extra work, as I had to for my job promotion (more duties with no pay increase until I bargined for it), they most likely deserve it.

I'm signing because when Concordia cut the School of Music and its programs it had a bad effect on both the students and the faculty, as well as the university's longstanding arts connection with the community. This was particularly true of the laying off of one very hardworking instructor who had contributed greatly to the musical and teaching experience of music students especially in the handbell area.Linnet Gee (Edmonton, 2022-01-05)

This strike not only affects students and faculty but puts a lot of stress on international students since they work to pay the almost 3 times increased tuition and by delaying or cancelling the semester it affects their finances.Lattaf Ahmad (Edmonton, 2022-01-05)

Faculty deserve fair wages and should only be let go due to just cause. These are not outrageous demands - they are what fair working conditions look like.Carolyn Jervis (Edmonton, 2022-01-06)
#384
I’m a UofL student that believes that faculties need their university financial support and fair workloads. Especially small universities. Faculty is expected to take on larger worker loads to make up for lack of funding and size of faculty and it is not fair to students or faculty.Joleen Jadischke (Westlock, 2022-01-06)

As the sister of an alumnae I’m very disappointed that Concordia is choosing profits and mansions over fair pay and good working and learning conditions!Laura Collison (Edmonton, 2022-01-06)

I have been attending Concordia on a periodic basis since 1982. Most of my professors have been some of the finest people I have had the honour of meeting. Their concern for students has always been paramount and apparent to us without reservation. Their professionalism, humility and dedication is exemplary and serves as a model to us all. The very essence of Concordia is at at risk. It is shameful, that the administration has allowed this strike to occur.douglas campbell (sherwood park, 2022-01-06)
