Feel strongly about this case

I don't agree this dog should be put to sleep, she is this mans life and surely his mental and physical health should be taken massively into consideration. I don't think he will survive if he loses his best friend.

A bit of common sense, justice and compassion is needed urgently. Poor little dog was startled and obviously presents no danger to people whatsoever. Woman insisting on euthanasia should be utterly ashamed of her excessive, unnecessary and downright scandalous behaviour.

I have followed this case from the start. The little dog appears very friendly and well adjusted . She is pictured rolling over on her back to have her belly rubbed by one of the reporters. Hardly a dangerous dog. The owner has a pacemaker and lives alone apart from Kim and a collie. He has raised Kim from a puppy and for the last six years, she has gone everywhere with him without a single incident . She has been his constant companion, even sleeping in his bed. I realise that it is frightening to receive a nip from a little dog, but putting her down for this seems extreme. There are so many other options which Donal Rogers the owner has put forward. I genuinely believe that this elderly man will die of a broken heart, if he has to hand his constant companion of six years , over to the dog warden to be destroyed. I also feel for the little dog who will not know why she is being given up, or why her master is so broken. She will know that death is near and she will face it scared, confused and alone. As I said , there are other solutions.

One little mistake. Poor thing gor a fright and it wasn't deliberate, or it would have done it before. I've just had a friends dog so excited to see me it jumped up on me and hurt my nose. Blood everywhere. I didn't insist she was put down. Sometimes people go too far.

To euthanise a dog because it nipped a stranger passing by it’s house is far too harsh! This poor man needs his dog for company. Shame on you woman, whoever you are!

I have a Jack Russell myself. The dog shouldn’t be put down. It was frightened

This little dog is an 85 year old man’s best friend, the woman the dog nipped has already had 2 dogs destroyed to me that shows a pattern especially for compensation

Please give kim another chance , they live in a rural area and the owner has said he will muzzle her when out and said he will keep his gate closed .

The dog nipped to protect his owner. Owner has done all he can. Woman is being callous. I was bitten badly as a child and this woman is making people like me, angry.

Save Kim. The owner is willing to save his dog by doing whatever the court wishes but the court says no? So if a dog is agitated into biting someone then the dog will still lose? Why a second and final chance should be awarded to Kim.

Terrible to put that old man through all this, the stress can't be good for him, not to mention the poor dog. He has promised not to have her loose again, that should be enough, the woman came into Kims territory, the dog didn't attack she defended.

Kim was frightened and made one mistake which should not cost her her life.

Allison Bevins (Weston super Mare, 2022-08-14)

I think the dog deserves a second chance and i can clearly see the owner has taken full responsibility for Kims mistake and will make sure it doesn't happen again. None of us are perfect and no dog is perfect. I understand the woman may have concerns but i dont think what Kim did is serious enough for her life to be taken from her and for this good man to loose a special companion.

Stephen Matthews (Dublin, 2022-08-14)

#275

It is not fair . The little dog was only minding his owner if it was someone came an killed the old man he would not be put down.

Denis O Connor (Cork, 2022-08-15)

#276

Why is it that the Courts see fit to give all sorts of career crimals a second chance, but when it comes to a little dog the word of one vindictive woman means that two lives will be ruined. He's hardly a dangerous dog.

Kim is not an aggressive dog. She should not lose her life because of one dog bite. Kim's owner is willing to do anything to reach a settlement. The woman Kim bit is being heartless and is obviously not an animal lover. Shame on her!

I’m signing this petition because this little dog who went through terrible pain with broken legs and made one small mistake should lose her life.
