I fully support the building of affordable homes to rent for local people.Antony Rice (Braunton, 2024-04-13)

Myself and my husband earn reasonable wages but have no hope of saving the money for a deposit for a mortgage, and our ages are now against us in that area as well. We would like to be able to rent a property in our home village, an actual house which is a home for life.Rhiannon Hook (Braunton, 2024-04-13)

My daughter and son in law live in braunton so I am fully aware of how hard it is for young or older people to find affordable accommodation, they are just completely blown out of the market because of the ludicrous high prices of rental or sale in brauntonKatrina Parmenter (Umberleigh, 2024-04-13)

My family needs future housing too as our landlord is selling the property next year after 6 years tenancy and kids in two local schoolsManuel Marques (Braunton, 2024-04-13)

I’m signing because Braunton needs social affordable rented properties to enable young families especially those born here to continue to live and work and bring up their own children in their home townLorna Childs (Braunton, 2024-04-13)

Young people are being pushed out of the village as they can’t afford to stay. These are our grown up children and should be allowed to live where they’ve been bought up. We’re almost making them refugees. !!!Mark Fox (Braunton, 2024-04-14)

As someone who rents in the area we are extremely concerned that if our current landlords (who are amazing luckily) decide to sell etc then there is no way we would be able to continue living in the area due to the cost of renting. We would have to move away with our 3 children who are all very much part of the Braunton community (schools, football, swimming etc).Stephen Dean (Braunton, 2024-04-15)

Even though I’m fortunate to have my own home in Braunton. Sadly my daughters and their generation will struggle to ever afford a home here.Jodie Cross (Braunton, 2024-04-25)

We bought when house prices were not so high but it’s so unfair that local people cannot now afford to live in Braunton.Annie Davies (Braunton, 2024-04-29)

I would like to see people who struggle to find a home & future generations to be able to live in the village where they have grown up.I have ten young grandchildren & hopefully in years to come they could stay here.

I am a 28 year old North Devon resident who grew up here and has always worked. There is so little housing available to rent or buy that is feasible for ordinary working class people in ordinary jobs like me. There is significant need for housing for ordinary people to be able to continue to live and work in the community. The housing crisis here is devastating for communities and for people on so many levels, anything that can be feasibly done, with reasonable considerations for environment and sustainability, such as the CLT, would be really welcome.Jasmine Bennett (Devon, 2024-05-15)

It is important that communities have secure housing and a vibrant, diverse population.Children’s poverty and homelessness has increased hugely, as a community we need to protect safe, secure housing for the future.
We do not just want to have an aging or holiday population. This is unsustainable.

Truly affordable and rented Social Housing is vital to support a healthy and functioning community in the Braunton area … and all North Devon where homes are unaffordable for people on average incomes . Second , holiday and Air B+B accommodations have inflated property prices and drained rental properties from long term and secure availability.Resident Community is vital for the stability of our future .

I'm a strong advocate for more affordable housing for local people.I was orn and bred in Barnstaple, have seen developers not provide enough affordable housing, build houses that locals cannot afford to buy, see gouse bought as second home and have seen S21 notices served to so many leaving them homeless.
I share any accomodation I see in the hope this helps others. I voice my objections that not enough affordable housing is built.

We desperately need social housing in the whole of North Devon and this is as good as any place to start. Those in a position to help have a moral duty to do so, particularly if they profit from that local community.Julia Stanway (North Devon, 2024-06-04)
