Comments

#201

I am signing this because I am not able to afford the increase as well as service fee charge for the month , this has eaten into a budget which is almost non existent.

Sharn Benjamin (Johannesburg, 2024-07-03)

#202

It is so unfair

#207

Life is too expensive, with a minimum salary its not possible hey, i mean i am getting about 26000 per month and just suporting my family and rent but i cant manage, so what about ppl that is earning about 10k per month, that is why most people go the illegal way and buy backdoor electricity or do illegal connections

Dennis Ahrends (Johannesburg, 2024-07-03)

#209

Pricing's ridiculous

Michael Biggar (Johannesburg, 2024-07-03)

It's too expensive

#213

To withdraw the service fee implemented by NERSA AND city power

Tarryn Jensol (Johannesburg, 2024-07-03)

#217

I'm signing because this is simply unaffordable for me. I keep my geyser switched off and use the absolute minimum of electricity because that's literally all I can afford. If I have to pay an extra R200 I'll have to go without electricity two weeks of every four. I currently spend R100 per week on prepaid and I can't spend any more. You are asking for more illegal connections to be created because almost everyone is in the same position as me. Please rather concentrate on tackling existing illegal connections to get your revenue back in line.

Candida Moon (Johannesburg, 2024-07-03)

#220

I can't afford to pay extra I will not be able to......

Ikramulhaq Ismail Hotelwala tailor (Johannesburg, 2024-07-03)

#221

I'm signing this petition because I'm not happy with city power's decision to impose R200 for service fee. This is too much.

Sibusiso Sibusiso (Johannesburg, 2024-07-03)

#225

You cannot increase as there was an increase earlier this year and has the cost of living been considered? Has the public been approached before this decision was made.

Chwayita Mzotoyi (Johannesburg, 2024-07-03)

#227

I am against corruption

Heinrich Fourie (Roodepoort, 2024-07-03)

#228

I would like the R200 fee to be cancelled as we are paying a lot for electricity.

Silindile Papila (Johannesburg, 2024-07-03)

#230

I'm signing because the cost of living is already or of reach for us average South Africans.

Taryn-Lee van Wyk (Sophiatown, 2024-07-03)

#231

The middle class are being exploited as majority of taxes, government income, is from the middle class, we are being exploited to an extent where majority are under financial constraint. We are paying or subsidizing the lower income earners with water and electricity yet no relief for us, the R200 monthly charge plus the increase in the rates, refuse, waste and electricity tariffs are going to put many more middle income families into worse of financial situations.

Amish Sukdeo (Roodepoort, 2024-07-03)

#232

We can't afford any increase on prepaid electricity we already paying to much

Fatima Baderoon (Johannesburg, 2024-07-03)

Nazeem Variawa (Johannesburg, 2024-07-03)

#245

It’s already tough, I will not be paying extra 200 on top of the interest from July. Can the government give us a break as citizens, kuningi.

Busisiwe Zwane (Johannesburg South, 2024-07-03)

#246

I do not agree will all these increases its ridiculous and unfair to the community that actually pays for services

Maya Dhoolab (Florida lake, 2024-07-03)

#248

We cannot afford these increases. We are living below the bread line already. The prices is too high.

Sumaya Martin (Johannesburg, 2024-07-03)

#250

The cost of living is to high

Zainab Cassim (Johannesburg, 2024-07-03)

#251

Electricity is to high rates and top of that service fees. Cost of leaving is to expensive.

Ebrahim Mayat (JOHANNESBURG, 2024-07-03)

#253

These fees are an additional cost to monthly electricity.

Shabir Cassim (Johannesburg, 2024-07-03)

#254

As a law abiding South African citizen and a Gauteng residence who has not had salary increment in the past 2 years and surviving on one income this will cripple us as a family. Thus, my rejection of the increment which I view it was done in bad faith increment and out of selfish intent whilst disregarding the difficulties residence are facing financially.

Makgotso Masehla (Florida, 2024-07-03)

#255

We don't have the money to even pay the city now.

Riaan Fritz (Johannesburg, 2024-07-03)

#259

Councils are quick to cut you off for paying a day or two late, yet they owe billions to eskom. This is due to corruption and mismanagement. They are fleecing consumers to cover for what they have stolen.

Joseph Kunneke (Johannesburg, 2024-07-03)

#263

We cannot afford it.

Eddie Paul (Johannesburg, 2024-07-03)

#266

I'm signing this because

Anneline Jacobs (Johannesburg, 2024-07-03)

#269

Any service fee, including tbe additional cost effective 1 June 2024 cannot be justified to consumers.

Fadiel Mohamed (Johannesburg, 2024-07-03)

#271

Why should I pay for people's miss management. Increases on increases now I must a service fee ontop of this. Get your house together and leave mine alone

Jan Ungerer (East Rural, 2024-07-03)

#275

This gov needs to be stopped

Faizel Hoosen (Jhb, 2024-07-03)

#276

I feel it is unfair to the citizens of the country to pay for the municipal and government mismanagement. Why should people who can afford to pay be punished. At the same time poor people cannot afford this. The rates increases were approved why do they still need this amount on prepaid meters. They have misled the public for the last time because there no valid & legal reason for this extra expense.

Natalie Morta (Johannesburg, 2024-07-03)

#277

We are tired of being ripped off by the corrupted government

Mon KeyBrans (JOHANNESBURG, 2024-07-03)

#278

It is ridiculous that we must pay a Service fee and electricity prices keep rising. You are raping us ordinary citizens by squeezing every last cent and more from our all ready empty pockets.

Llewellyn Goliath (Johannesburg, 2024-07-03)

#279

New Tariff must Fall

Moeniera Saptoe (JHB, 2024-07-03)

#280

Even though the fee has been explained, it is way out of household budgets. Plus VAT, some of us have not recovered since COVID19

Mbali Mashaba (Johannesburg, 2024-07-03)

#282

This is an unacceptable service fee, as it take the power increase to 32.7% and no one has the money for this as there is no jobs in our industry and no one with a job receives this tye of salary increase. Your debt you have made by steeling the money that you cannot pay Eskom back, should not be the citizens problem

Kevin Olson (Roodepoort, 2024-07-03)

#283

I'm signing because I feel the added cost to the already high cost of electricity is grossly unfair and unwarranted . Paying consumers are being punished to make up revenue shortfalls from non paying citizens , illegal connections and tampered prepaid meters

Leslie Kelly (Roodepoort, 2024-07-03)

#284

I cannot afford the high tariffs.

Marisa Strachan (Johannesburg, 2024-07-03)

#285

NERSA and City of Johannesburg cannot kill people by increasing tariff and enforcing unnecessary fee for their corruption and mismanagement. This charges are exorbitant and must be withdraw immediately.

Zakir Shaikh (Johannesburg, 2024-07-03)

#286

I am signing this petition because I am affected and we paying electricity for the people who don't pay electricity at all double pay for half units is redicilous and oppression.

Gladys Khumoetsile Nare (Fleurhof Roodeport, 2024-07-03)

#288

I find the price of electricity to be ridiculously. I will not be able to afford my basic needs with the current price of electricity.

Reaaz Woodworth (Townsview, 2024-07-03)

#292

It is not fair for an already burdened Gauteng citizen to be paying for a service fee of R200

Puleng Motseki (Johannesburg, 2024-07-03)

#293

I'm signing because electricity is expensive as it is and it doesn't make sense that I should pay levy for a service which I'm paying for on a monthly basis.

Mary-Jane Kgopa (Johannesburg, 2024-07-03)

#294

Another unfair tax

Mac Kalubi (Wilgeheuwel, Roodeport, 2024-07-03)

#296

I need the service fee to be withdrawn

Thembekile Dube (Florida, 2024-07-03)

#297

It's bullshit!

Kagiso Phooko (Johannesburg, 2024-07-03)

#299

I am against the additional service fee of R200 per purchase. The living cost is already high we cannot afford more than what we are already have on our plates. Please do the right thing city power.

Phumi Khoza (Johannesburg, 2024-07-03)

#300

I am decline eskom services fees

Moses Moloele (Johannesburg, 2024-07-03)

#301

Totally unfair we unfortunately cannot afford this

Clayton Cooper (Johannesburg, 2024-07-03)

#303

There was no transparency in implementation of this tariff increase. The service fee was hidden and it's punishment to us pre paid users. This fee makes electricity unaffordable for prepaid users. We changed from post paid to prepaid as a cost saving exercise. This fee means that I will be indebted to city power as my account will in areas every month even when I have enough power for that month and I decide not to buy for that month

Griffiths Kubeka (City of joburg, 2024-07-03)

#304

The fee is ridiculous, it essentially means that we are paying close to 60% more for electricity then we were last year.

Octavian Steyn (Johannesburg, 2024-07-03)

#305

The monthly service fee is unjust and as an involved community member cannot recall or trace of discussions about this. We only received notification as ward 70 that this was being actioned, with no consultation it seems. The matter needs to be discussed with the people it affects.

Christine Msibi (Roodepoort, 2024-07-03)

#306

Day light robbery.

Elliot Ndande (Johannesburg, 2024-07-03)

#308

Am unemployed so cannot afford the high price for electricity.

Mohommed-Saeed Buccus (Roodepoort, 2024-07-03)

#311

It is unfair to increase electricity and initiate the service fee ,do you want us to die of hunger

Sbongeleni Gcabashe (Roodepoort, 2024-07-03)

#312

I’m signed for the service fee on prepaid electricity to be removed.

Elvin Josephus (Johannesburg, 2024-07-03)

#313

That extra money is unnecessary and unfair. Electricity is already so expensive. Poor households cannot keep up with extra expenses.

Marlene Cusens (Roodepoort, Witpoortjie, 2024-07-03)

#316

The electricity tariff is very high and and city power dont think for us .

Ncumisa Booi (Johannesburg, 2024-07-03)

#324

Alida Kuhn (Crosby, 2024-07-03)

#326

We are pensioner ....we have nothing more to give ....so when are you going to stop milking us dry..WE dont have to give...

Lynette Ward (Roodepoort, 2024-07-03)

#328

This is way above affordability and unethical exspecting us to pay a monthly fee where other cities, towns or provinces are not paying. What about the pensioners who is depended on their pension and still have to pay a fee.

Delphine Kuhn (Roodepoort, 2024-07-03)

#329

The electricity tariffs are so high already and are barely surviving as retirees.

Shoneez Hill (Johannesburg, 2024-07-03)

#330

We are already compliant in buying prepaid electricity. So now why should we be obligated to pay service fees whereas some people don't even buy electricity. Cos of living in this country is too high as it is and we cannot afford such rates.

Kgomotso Molebatsi (JOHANNESBURG, 2024-07-03)

#331

Because there is no fairness in this decision, especially to citizens that buy electricity and pay their monthly services. What they can do for now is to attend to the root cause that led us to this situation. Thank you.

Kemoneilwe heather Kgadiete (Johannesburg, 2024-07-03)

#333

I am frustrated and disgusted with tarriff increase from City Power.

#339

I’m signing this partition

Mbali Mohale (Fleurhof, 2024-07-03)

#341

This is unfair to all the residents and it does not make sense why someone will implement this as electricity is already so expensive

Thembinkosi Ngwenya (Johannesburg, 2024-07-03)

#342

It is not fair that Eskom users are not paying this fee and we are already under strains with the hikes of electricity

Celimpilo Vilakazi (Lenasia, 2024-07-03)

#343

Already we are paying too much for a few units so this will just be too much

Darlton malema (joburg, 2024-07-03)

Tannah custer (Roodepoort, 2024-07-03)

Shahnaaz Hassenjee (Bergbron Randburg, 2024-07-03)

This increase is too much.

Romaana Lambat (Boksburg, 2024-07-03)

#363

Cost of electricity is too high

Papadi Seeko (Lehae, 2024-07-03)

#366

This in not fair on us middle class earners, some people are living for FREE yet some of us are who are paying for services are living like hell, this fee should be scrapped, example - its winter now, people who are not paying for electricity have HEATERS yet some of us who are paying cannot even afford to plug heaters, this is nonsense, if this service of R200 per month is fair let iy apply to everyone, why must we suffer yet other people are not even paying acent, THIS IS NOT FAIR AT ALL, THIS THING MUST BE. SCRAPPED.

Robert Bongani Ngubeni (Johannesburg, 2024-07-03)

#367

Our municipality does nothing
The community does more than what the municipality does
We are paying all these rates to city power so people can fill their pockets but not fix the problem or find a solution

#369

I cannot afford . I am not happy

Tebogo Kokwane (Fleurhof, 2024-07-03)

#371

I am not accepting that people already under pressure, jobless, and low prospects must still be required to pay for infrastructure that's been in place for more than 4 decades. The cost of electricity units already takes into account product/generation cost. People are thus expected to pay twice (previous taxes) then the additional fee. Highway robbery.

A JACOBS (Johannesburg, 2024-07-03)

#373

I do not want to pay the R200

Desiree Mokgosi (Roodepoort, 2024-07-03)

#374

I am signing because electricity is already expensive and adding to it will make it really hard for me so survive on a monthly basis.. I feel paying the municipal bill and buying electricity is a compromise enough already. So, adding a fee to that is just taking too much from the people..

Kagiso Mashigo (Fleurhof, 2024-07-03)

#375

I'm not willing to pay extra fees on my pre-paid electricity

Suzette Truter (Randburg, 2024-07-03)

#379

This is an evil inconsidered surcharge. We already struggling to keep up with rising costs and now you're charges this astronomical amount.
You are targeting paying prepaid customers instead of ensuring non paying customer do pay for electricity.
This is grandscale thievery because from 275k customers, you will take in almost a R1BILLION per year.
Prepaid customers are your easiest customers, we buy upfront, you don't spend on meter readers, you don't spend on collections and invoices. We ensure you have adequate cashflow.
Stop treating us like it's a sin to be a prepaid customer.

Pieter Leeuw (Roodepoort, 2024-07-03)

I agree with the petition.

Valentino Crowder (Roodepoort, 2024-07-03)

#387

The R200 service charge as well as the electricity increases is too much to bear. It is clearly unaffordable yet the increases continue. Why dont you rather remove all illegal connections as that cost is now passed on to the paying customers which is grossly unfair.

Deidre Pretorius (Johannesburg, 2024-07-03)

#388

The electricity tariffs are so high as it is, the new tariffs with the R200 on top are making it impossible to survive or to make it through life

Terry Bunu (Johannesburg, 2024-07-03)

#395

The new increase is detrimental and has no actual sound basis

Nondumiso Hope Masuku (Fourways, 2024-07-03)

#398

The increase cost of electricity will result in there being insufficient money for food. Increase in electricity will also increase costs of basic necessities.
