For the shop at dorris street to be closed, as we are scared for our children, it is easy for them to be sold drugs this days so we must protect them

Im signing this petition because all these spaza shops and multi Dwellings are de valuating our properties because houses are being sold below market value and they are been converted into these spaza shops and multi dwellings, Kensington is becoming a very untidy, these have to stop.

This is against everything the suburb needs. It will bring more rubbish, more crime, and is not permitted. It will give this idea to other people same as the overcrowded homes.

Jackie Mertineit (Johannesburg, 2024-08-14)

This is just deplorable. Crime, excess waste, excess traffic, too much noise and lighting in an area not meant for anything but residential use.

It’s the right thing to do.

This type of nonsense should not happen in our suburb. It becomes a security hazard and devalues our properties.

Illegal construction of a spaza shop in a suburban area without consideration of the community and inspite having been told to stop the alterations to the house, the owner carried on nonetheless knowing full well that he was breaking the law. He took a chance thinking he could get away with it counting on the inaction of the authorities.

Kensington needs to be protected by law enforcement, so that it does not become unlivable for its current rate paying residents. As it is, our property values have decreased significantly and there is an exodus out of the suburb and very few people wanting to buy here. This is a direct result of the lack of consistency in service delivery, law enforcement and municipal neglect.

I am a home owner in Kensington and wish to preserve the nature of our suburb as well as the value of my property, considering how much I have invested in renovating my home. This proliferation of illegal shops and the ever growing illegal multi-dweller properties, are degrading our suburb and wiping out the value of our properties!

We have to to obey laws and rules, I understand that we live in a country with very mixed population, mixed cultures, beliefs and priorities, but if people don't adhere to the basic laws then we will all have to deal with tthe consequences and lawlessness.
