This place has shown myself and friends and strangers included how to co-exist through creating what it is we like to do and share it with each other to the point of depending on your fellow man to enjoy your favorite things. It brings so many people together that otherwise would never mesh. It is not only personally important but also is used as an example of how things could and should be in other places that were not as generous with the opportunity to see if the people can create and regulate and protect something that is for the people. I’ve been to several places throughout the world and Suvilahti DIY is the covenant and almost a promised land to a lot of people. It’s renowned. Don’t get rid of it. Pretty sure Helsinki needs it as far as I could say in terms of people wanting to choose traveling there over all the other options they have. We should protect these places since they have huge meaning for a large comnunity of people who have and still are involved with the great work to guide and inspire our youth to more wholesome choose paths in their life than criminality.I myself used to skate alot more when I was younger and now as a multi entrepreneur I am grateful that I spent my free time while skateboarding instead of doing stupid stuff like my peers in our neighborhood. 90% of those who never had a hobby like skateboarding are now dead, in jail or drug addicts...
I was diagnozed with ADHD at the of 30 and afterwards I have understood that the problem never was my ADHD but the lack possibilities to be able to express my creativity and impulsiveness. Skateboarding was a perfect way of life to channel my creativity in a liberal way and it helped me to find my style and myself.
Save the skatepark for sake of our stuggling youth!!!

Ive been able to help out on some of the concrete pours over the years, and I know that these guys are doing all this for the love of skateboarding.
