Comments

#5202

We’re already poor some of us can only afford 200 electricity every month, how must we live without power and money

Eyaaz Waja (Lenasia, 2024-07-04)

#5203

The increase is unjust. Having the public pay for the crimes and incompetence of the officials is wrong

Ayub Mayet (Johannesburg, 2024-07-04)

#5206

I'm signing this petition because I can't afford to pay this money that has charged this is complete abuse of power by municipality that uses money wrestless

Musa Mntungwa (Johannesburg, 2024-07-04)

#5211

I'm signing because I do not think it's fair to make people pay a service fee while there are increases at the same time. Both the increase and the service fee is costing people too much.

Lesedi Bunga (Johannesburg, 2024-07-04)

#5213

I was not i formed about the R200 charge

vusizwe langa (johannesburg, 2024-07-04)

#5215

We cannot allow to be bullied like this as citizens of the City

Robo Phasha (Wilgeheuwel, 2024-07-04)

#5216

It's unfair for us who are paying for electricity yet there's places like Soweto, Thembisa, Alexander and many more who are not paying for electricity as they have their meters bridged. Why don't you start there bridged meters.

Matshidiso Mosia-Singimba (Johannesburg, 2024-07-04)

#5218

I am signing as people are struggling to keep heads above water and the public must keep funding corruption.

Marlon Adams (JHB, 2024-07-04)

#5219

I,m signing this because I do not afford to pay amount I am unemployed with my brother's, my mother also is old unemployed

Kenalemang Magaleni (Johannesburg, 2024-07-04)

#5221

I do not want a service fee.

Cwayita Mageda (Roodepoort, 2024-07-04)

#5226

I reject the city power electricity services fee and hope for it to be cancelled

Lesego Vilakazi (Johannesburg, 2024-07-04)

#5227

Service fees implemented to be withdrawn with immediate effect

Roselyn Mmatladi (Roodepoort, 2024-07-04)

#5230

I'm against paying the mandatory R200 monthly service charge fee for electricity.

Mary-Jane Xulu (Johannesburg, 2024-07-04)

#5232

As a pensioner it has become unaffordable.
I bought R1000.00 electricity and only got approximately 202 units which is not enough for the month. What do we get for SASSA, so either you buy electricity or you starve.

Vannesia Blaauw (Gauteng, 2024-07-04)

#5233

Unaffordability - life is tough as is. And lack of consultation

Thamsanqa Xulu (Johannesburg, 2024-07-04)

#5235

R200 service is too much for people like me who's buying prepaid electricity city power must just focus on the house holds who are not buying. As city power you know which meter numbers not appearing on your system but you don't have balls to confront them and easy way is to milk your loyal customers. All this will make your loyal customers to join those who are not paying.

Hitekani Honours Belankulu (Johannesburg, 2024-07-04)

#5236

I do not agree with City Power implementing high, unnecessary tariffs.

Olivia Chetty (Johannesburg, 2024-07-04)

#5238

I disagree with the tariffs increases at 12 plus % and the levy of R200. Please stop crippling your paying clients and disconnect all the legal connections with warnings of long hail sentences for those who still wish to try their luck at stealing our resources!

Jolyon Annandale (Randburg, 2024-07-04)

#5241

WE PAYING CITIZENS ARE BEING PREJUDICED FOR THE NON-PAYERS... City Power must recover its revenue from defaulting residents and Companies and State-Owned Entities - WHY MUST WE PAY FOR THEIR NEGLIGENCE - Billions written off in Bad Debt - WE HAVE TO PAY - Billions lost due to corruption - WE HAVE TO PAY

HAYLEY JANUARY (ROODEPOORT, 2024-07-04)

#5243

I am rejecting the smart meter box that comes with the R200 tariff.

Winny Mametja (Midrand, 2024-07-04)

#5244

Fees too high, we living hand to mouth.

S Ham (Jhb, 2024-07-04)

#5251

Abolish the monthly service fee to already poor residents

Thaira Ballim (Gauteng, 2024-07-04)

#5253

Residents simply cannot afford basic service delivery in Johannesburg

Maurice Rahme (Johannesburg South, 2024-07-04)

#5254

City power is not fair

Keorapetse Nxumalo (Roodeport, 2024-07-04)

#5257

I'm signing objecting to the proposed "service fee" charges for money that was spent years ago, the capex for which has long been recovered. It is not acceptable to cover your inefficiencies by levying further charges to a populace that is already being smothered by the costs of poor management.

David Freese (Randburg, 2024-07-04)

#5261

I am signing for the scrapping of the City Power service fee.
Again we being taken for a ride.

Tilly Pillay (Douglasdale, 2024-07-04)

#5262

I’m against the monthly service charge
I want it to be completely scrapped out

Hlengiwe Khumalo (Johannesburg South, 2024-07-04)

#5265

I'm not happy about the implementation it's unfair and bully coz I buy electricity never bridged .

Nozizwe Ginya (Fleurhof, 2024-07-04)

#5267

We have enough taxes and bills, everything is just getting crazy expensive

Claudine Henchie (Johannesburg, 2024-07-04)

#5269

I'm signing this because we can't afford the R200 charge of everything month and that's it. We got problems and you see money.

Elizabeth Moloi (Roodepoort, 2024-07-04)

#5275

It is ridiculous to add onto what we are paying whereas we are using prepaid electricity.

Noluthando Cele (South Hills, 2024-07-04)

#5276

Because it is ridiculous that we as the people that are unemployed have to spend so much money on electricity and get so little units out of it and the electricity gets finished so quickly where a R50 doesn't even last 3 days and only a fridge and TV uses electricity we even afraid to put on the geyser because it won't even last 2days its really ridiculous i mean for R50 it was 15.2 units now its 13. Something units for a R50 and now its going to get finished faster I already struggled to keep head above water with the 15.2 units now how must 1 survive with the increase you guys are really killing us and even at the shops we still have to pay extra R5 on the R50 to get our electricity this is really not fair to all of us South Africans its really to much for us to handle.

René Johnson (Boksburg, 2024-07-04)

#5277

It's getting too expensive.

JF Swanepoel (Johannesburg, 2024-07-04)

#5278

I can't afford the electricity hike

Leon Jacobs (Johannesburg, 2024-07-04)

#5280

This R200 fee is daylight robbery!

Garrick Deutschmann (Johannesburg, 2024-07-04)

#5281

I am sick and tired of the service fees and price hikes.

Ayesha Meera (Johannesburg, 2024-07-04)

#5282

I can barely afford to keep my lights on now, so with this increase and the service fee then I will be forced to be without electricity for a week or so. And also the service is poor from city power so why pay for it?

Tshepo Matlala (Johannesburg, 2024-07-04)

#5283

City Power is owing Eskom over R1 billion rands, they have clearly mismanaged the money collected when we buy electricity, now they cogged up this Ponzi scheme to raise the money to pay Eskom.

City Power did not built any infrastructure, the dilapidated infrastructure was built by Eskom.

The 12,7% tariff increase is enough on its own...this R200 fee is just daylight robbery.

Mpho Mokgatla (Ormonde, 2024-07-04)

#5284

i reject the new electricity tariffs.

Owen Cele (Gauteng, 2024-07-04)

#5285

R200 city Power monthly fee to be cancelled

Nditsheni Ratshitanga (Naturena, 2024-07-04)

#5288

I don't agree with what eskom is doing to us

#5294

Victor Gezane (Roodepoort, 2024-07-05)

#5295

We are not happy with thi charges because is too expensive and it will lead people to do legal connection because we can't afford as it is , city power stealing from us poor people

Robert Mufamadi (Florida, 2024-07-05)

#5297

I think this is daylight robbery. It's the same like SARS, you have to almost give 50% of your earnings for tax. Now you buy 400 electricity and you have to give 200 service fee. Wtfnh. And soo many black townships gets electricity for free. WOW WHAT AN ACHIEVEMENT

Zaida Khan (Bosmont, Johannesburg, 2024-07-05)

#5305

I feel like I'm being robbed

Brenda Reinke (Johannesburg, 2024-07-05)

#5306

stand firm our beliefs that the burden of incompetent city officials should not be transferred to the consumers.

Nicolette Lundie (Johannesburg, 2024-07-05)

#5309

I can't afford electricity

Agnes Ngubeni (Johannnesurg, 2024-07-05)

#5311

Because I can hardly afford the current electricity that I was buying monthly and with the repo rates, petrol, food and everything else that went up I can't even buy food monthly my salary increase is way less than all the price hikes that went up they are forcing us to loose what we have

Xanda Vermeulen (Roodepoort, 2024-07-05)

#5312

I am a house owner and this amount is jus exorbitant

Muzingaye Nhliziyo (Johannesburg, 2024-07-05)

Idlena Makgote (Johannesburg, 2024-07-05)

#5318

Daylight robbery... alot of money for a small amount of units really , what about unemployment rate how do you expect people to buy when they don't have jobs and the little money they get is for food ja ne God have mercy on you selfish people .greediness she's!!

Brandah Peacock (Midrand, 2024-07-05)

#5319

I am affected adversely with this R200 mandatory prepaid service fee. I am concerned because there are months whereby I don’t need electricity but I would be expected to pay even though I did not buy anything

Sefoloko Mabada (Johannesburg, 2024-07-05)

#5320

I do not agree with the increase and the way forward

Deborah Blandford (Mayfield Park, 2024-07-05)

#5321

This is ridiculous, it must be scrapped

Manley Mthimkhulu (Johannesburg, 2024-07-05)

#5323

We barely survive with all these ridiculous price increases and high cost of living. We are paying in advance for electricity.

Namisha Desai (Johannesburg, 2024-07-05)

#5326

I am a single mother and the only bread winner and I really can't afford this charge . I feel it's unfair for me to be paying for electricity while sp many people don't pay electricity . You stop the illegal connections and deal with that and corruption

Saajida Seedat (Lenasia, 2024-07-05)

#5328

This is ridiculous and I also want to see where the majority of the citizens have agreed to this R200 service fee. As I definitely do not.
