no way should an intruder be allowed to get away with walking into someones yard, let alone taking the life of the family pet, for protecting his family and home

(Tinana, 2017-09-13)

#5404

Mackay council pound is in need of some sort of shake up its run with no concern for the life of animals and no compassion for owners who live and work in this town wake up you guys you are a disgrace SHAME on council

(Mackay, 2017-09-13)

#5406

The guy shouldn't have been on the property. This law needs to change. The dog was protecting his family!

(Ingham, 2017-09-13)

#5407

The law needs to toughen up against people who trespass on properties. A dog's nature is to protect its property. So you'll put the dog down because a person was breaking the law. Idiots!

(Childers, 2017-09-13)

#5408

A dog shouldn't be killed for protecting his territory!

(Townsville, 2017-09-13)

#5410

Laws need to be changed! If people enter a yard with a dog in it, that is their own personal choice to do so. It's even worse when it's a criminal trespassing because they're breaking the law, yet the law protects them. The dog was defending HIS territory. If the person didn't trespass, this wouldn't have happened.

(Townsville, 2017-09-13)

#5411

Wrong wrong wrong.
If someone enters without permission they deserve anything that comes their way.
The dog deserves to go home to it's family!!

(Cairns, 2017-09-13)

#5412

This is unfair

(Cairns, 2017-09-13)

#5414

I don't think the dog had done anything wrong and the council is being ridiculous

(Mackay, 2017-09-13)

#5415

It is not far that a family pet is destroyed if they protest members and territory from an intruder. Destroy the intruder.

(Perth, 2017-09-13)

#5416

The law needs to be changed regarding dogs protecting their property.

(Mackay, 2017-09-13)

#5417

This beautiful pup doesn't deserve the punishment being handed to him for protecting his property. SAVE WINSTON

(Nowra, 2017-09-13)

#5424

A dog attacking an intruder is only guilty of protecting his family and property and should be allowed to live. Please try to convince me that the law is not an ass, because that is how it appears to me at the moment...this dog has done nothing wrong and should go home to those who love him.

(Adelaide, 2017-09-13)

#5425

Winston was only doing his duty of looking after the family home. the intruder needs a good whipping and put in jail for entering a property when not invited, more than likely he or she was going to steal something.

(Mackay, 2017-09-13)

#5426

Absolutely ridiculous. .put the criminal not the dog who is doing what dogs should do !!! Again whole situation ads about

(Ipswich, 2017-09-13)

#5427

It is absolutely disgusting that someone is given a free ride for ILLEGALLY TRESPASSING onto someone else's property and actually getting what they deserved by a family pet for it and now that pet has been seized and is to be put down. This pet was simply doing its job and guarding the owner's property. If anything, the TRESPASSER should be fined, not the pet owner. This is simply outrageous.

(Wulguru, 2017-09-13)

#5432

I love dogs and I know they will love and protect

(Tweed heads, 2017-09-13)

#5436

This poor baby needs to go home

(Adelaide, 2017-09-13)

#5438

to protect innocent animals from bureaucracy.

(Ayr, 2017-09-13)

#5441

The scum who break in should be put down, not the dog protecting the house and it's occupants

(Townsville, 2017-09-13)

#5442

The dog was doing his job...guarding his property

(Helensvale, 2017-09-13)

#5443

This dog was on his own property and an uninvited person entered illegally. The law should be prosecuting the intruder, not the dog.

(Maleny, 2017-09-13)

#5444

That person shouldn't have been there and the dog was only protecting his owners property. When does common sense come into the equation here? Don't blame an innocent animal.

(Townsville, 2017-09-13)

#5448

I'm signing because we have a right to protect ourselves & our property. This person shouldn't have been on the property regardless of why he was there. I don't care if he was there to smell the roses. The dog was protecting its family & property. The dog should be given a lifetime supply of bones instead for a job well done. When will our justice system start protecting the innocent?

(Townsville, 2017-09-13)

#5450

This is outrageous. This poor dog is only guilty of protecting its family.

(Willunga, 2017-09-13)

#5455

It's absolutely absurd to put an animal down because some idiot intrudes the home and the dog defends his and his family's territory

(Brisbane, 2017-09-13)

#5461

Because the dog was doing what its ment to do, protect its family & home. The dog is not at fault. The intruder should be in the shit with authorities, not this family or their protective family memeber. Leave the dog be you wankers.
Get dog you have their

(North Mackay, 2017-09-13)

#5462

No family pet should be put down for protecting their lives from criminals who invade peoples homes

(Dows creek, 2017-09-13)

#5463

Hope this furry baby survives, so sad

(Townsville, 2017-09-13)

#5465

The intruder is there for an obvious reasons, either to cause or inflict harm to th residmets of this property. The dog being first to respond has dealt with the problem appropriately disarming the intruder and potentially saved thousands of dollars in medical bills and most of all saved the lives of the residents residing at the property at the time of th inncednt.

The dog has not gone out of its way to break through the fence however the intruder presented himself with in the bound of the house.

The dog is clearly a family dog and is shown with kids. Appears not to be dangerous and more of a trust worthy companion for both kids and elderly.

However the intruder has done somthing that has broken the law and has threaten the occupants of the residents. hence why the action has occurred.

(Townsville, 2017-09-13)

#5466

Let the dog live....theres enough killing on this world...lets have some good news...that you have let him back to his owners

(Gatton, 2017-09-13)

#5467

I'm signing this because this is wrong to put down a dog when it was only doing its job to protect his family and property against the intruders

(Brisbane, 2017-09-13)

#5470

The dog was doing his*****en job, protect his family

(Coominya, 2017-09-13)

#5481

Because I don't think this should happen to the puppy

(Mackay, 2017-09-13)

#5482

My dogs have defended my property before and I believe the dog was doing its job rightfully.

(Brisbane, 2017-09-13)

#5484

I have a fur baby and can't imagine what the owner of winston is going through.... I say put the perpetrator who tried to break into the home down... not the dog!

(Bulahdelah, 2017-09-13)

#5485

No dog should suffer when it was doing its job.... protecting his own family in his own yard

(Blackwater, 2017-09-13)

#5486

This dog must be saved.

(Wynnum, 2017-09-13)

#5489

Winston is a family pet and he was protecting his family. What charges were laid against the scum that broke in?

(Townsville, 2017-09-13)

#5490

Because it's right to sign the dog and owners were in there home the right place. The intruder wasn't the dog bit him ,don't know what attitude intruder showed to dog. It's all based on here say the dog hasn't prior complaints. Deserves a chance .

(Newcastle, 2017-09-13)

#5491

It's time the laws changed. Council think they are a law of their own. I'm sick to death of hearing about people's pet's being taken from them. This is no different to taking a child and killing it.

Enough is enough!!!!

(blackwater, 2017-09-13)

#5492

A family pet should not be put down for protecting the families person or property. This dog could have saved the owners life.

(Kooralbyn, 2017-09-13)

#5493

If there is a complaint it should be mandatory to have an investigation, otherwise any story can be made up.

(Kingscliff, 2017-09-13)

#5498

I feel extremely strongly regarding this issue and hope the Council look at this particular incident and allow the dog to remain with its loving family without retribution.

(Bogangar, 2017-09-13)

#5499

I am rather tired of the dogs always being the victims while these scumbags are so convincing about their side of the story and the council believe them , nobody in their right mind who have children would keep a dangerous dog
Council get your act together,

(Christchurch, 2017-09-13)

#5500

Please don't kill Winston. He was protecting his home. An intruder!

(Melbourne, 2017-09-13)

#5501

1. The trespasser deserved to be bitten, the nature of a dog is to defend the owner's property. Dogs are territorial, what did you expect when you trespassed on private property!
2. The dog was on private property, it was not on the streets when this allegedly happened.
3. You cannot claim for an animal to be dangerous based on one claim without evidence.

(Melbourne, 2017-09-13)

#5504

This is not right.charge the criminal not the dog.

(Jubilee pocket, 2017-09-13)

#5505

Winston was protecting his property and owners! How about you punish the person illegally entering the premises since they were in the wrong breaking and entering.

(Victoria Point, 2017-09-13)

#5506

Save Winston!!

(Rockhampton, 2017-09-13)

#5512

bloody disgusting

(gold coast, 2017-09-13)

#5514

A dog will protect his pack. An intruder deserves to be punished for entering the home of snyone if not invited. This is rediculous - again crime pays!!!!!

(Brandy Hill, 2017-09-13)

#5515

It is so wrong to punish an innocent animal for protecting his family. Punish the criminal who broke in instead!!! The law has it so backwards, little wonder criminals keep doing these things, they get a slap on the wrist. That dog deserves to live!

(Hervey Bay, 2017-09-13)

#5518

Not right when he ia protecting his family from a mongrel intruder.

(Mackay, 2017-09-13)

#5519

The dog did what was right, put the scum 'human' who shouldn't have been in the yard down instead.

(Rockhampton, 2017-09-13)

#5520

The dog was just defending its property from an intruder. The intruder should be punished not the dog

(Melbourne, 2017-09-13)

#5523

It's absolutely disgusting to try to kill a dog for doing its job. Shame on you

(Mackay, 2017-09-13)

#5524

Totally ridiculous a dog protecting his family from a trespasser in the middle of the night is taken from his family. He was protecting against a threat to the family!

(Linden, 2017-09-13)

#5525

the dog was only protecting what is his, The intruder is the guilty one here not the dog

(Mackay, 2017-09-13)

#5528

Ridiculous because the dog was doing its job... Is it an aggressive dog? I think not!!!

(Coolum, 2017-09-13)

#5529

I am signing because Winstom was merely defending his family and his home. He must not be put to sleep: he is a hero.

(Box Hill, 2017-09-13)

#5530

I'm signing because I love dogs and I believe ths fog was protecting its home. It should be given a second chance.

(Forsayth, 2017-09-13)

#5533

This is just wrong

(Canberra, 2017-09-13)

#5538

No dog should be punished for protecting it's home and family.

(Kawumgan, 2017-09-13)

#5542

The dog was doing his job,the intruder should be put dpwn

(Brisbane, 2017-09-13)

#5544

This is not right, the dog was doing its job

(Mackay, 2017-09-13)

#5546

The dog did NOTHING wrong, absolutely ridiculous how the intruder is let off when he was the one doing something wrong, SAVE THE DOGGO

(Gympie, 2017-09-13)

#5547

This dog has every right to live! He was doing his job and if he hadn't of done what he did and the intruder hurt one of the humans or even killed one of them then would you euthanasia the intruder, I think not. Save this dog

(Hervey Bay, 2017-09-13)

#5548

I used to live in Mackay and I have a large dog who is also very territorial. It is completely backwards that an innocent animal should be punished for doing what nature intended him to do... Protect his pack. He is in no way a harm to society or the general public. Killing him would achieve absolutely nothing but grief for a young family who love their pet. The intruder had no business trespassing and in doing so he is entering the property at his own risk. The dog is absolutely not at fault.

(Brisbane, 2017-09-13)

#5549

He was doing his Ji and protecting his family and property

(Rockhampton, 2017-09-13)

#5550

Crazy council law! Why can't the intruder be punished for doing the wrong thing. The dog is a hero and should get accolades for protecting his family.

(Brisbane, 2017-09-13)

#5551

Enough is enough, i'm sure the POS who trespassed is walking around free

(Merrylands, 2017-09-13)

#5553

I'm signing because the dog was protecting his property....why isn't the person being charged for being on private property?

(Gold Coast, 2017-09-13)

#5557

The dog done it's duty protecting it's owes & property

(Mackay, 2017-09-13)

#5559

The whole situation is unjust! What punishment has the person that trespassed received? Would you give a human the death sentence for being protective of their property. How about if someone broke into my house to steal my things and I hit them over the head with a bat.....would I have to die for that? Killing innocent creatures is dispicable. Intruder shouldn't have been doing the wrong thing to begin with. Let the poor dog live his happily life with his family. Shame on the council workers once again playing god!

(Cairns, 2017-09-13)

#5561

Bloody ridiculous. Put down the intruder cos that's what had happened& we all know it. Dog doing his job as far as we are all concerned

(Brizzy, 2017-09-13)

#5563

Because Winston was protecting his family from a person that trepassing, that person was in the wrong, it seems now a criminal had more rights that innocent people and animals

(Dublin, 2017-09-13)

#5567

Dogs should never be punished for protecting their family or their home

(Hoppers Crossing, 2017-09-13)

#5570

this is absolutely absurd, cruel, inhumane a gross misuse of authority - that should be immediately revoked from these people at pound council. a fkn disgrace n not to forget just bloody un australian.what a great msg the makay wankers in 'charge' are sending all the crims up there.so i hope all of them get to have their houses intruded upon. - and with 2 young children that live there... omg.. in this day and age it couldav been much more sinister intended and had ended actually really badly,if it wasnt for winston, the only 1 with any sort of common sense...but.. i suppose if the pound goes thru with this inhumane treatment, everyone in makay will get to see/find out and know pretty soon enough id say, since that area is going to be a free for all and every house an open house for anybody to just come in, do whatever you feel like and take with you whatever you want - oh .. and if just so happen to be put bk in yr place and sent hobbling away from a house thats not yours by the family and household protector- then theyl have it made, dog put down, sue the arse outa the council as their admitting their liability as to having a'dangerous' dog allowed to be registered and living in their electorate/area once they are seen as aknowledging that there was a problem or something wrong.[the dumbarse idiots that they are] - hey .. hang on a minute..***** yeah, im moving back up there and living it up for free, in the sunshine,- well.. at the councils and residents expense, but will not have to work again - or il just bullshit and say that i cant anymore due to getn bitten whilst rolling some other poor people of their well made choices in life and hard work- so then thatl be work cover then too- oh the makay council just much have way too much money in their kitty coz this is a sure thing to become livn on easy street and the crims and lazy ppl are going to travelling for miles just to do crime in your area- hey .. are they guna follow suit and top it off with enforcing that law 'that posession is tenths of the law', so the crims will also get to leave and take their haul home with them ...what.. sounds a bit too far fetched and me as a total*****wit... but murdering a poor innocent family member for doing its job of protecting them all, that its specifically there to do,is at all in any way comprehendable or in any way less insane. - id be demanding that they get drug tested coz that just really sound like some crack head type of shit. no crap.[or their all good mates with the crim.. lol] coz its just too absurd to even take seriously so id be demanding swabs all round.

(adelaide. sa, 2017-09-13)

#5571

Seriously what rights do we as home owners have against intruders. This pet dog did no wrong, he was protecting his family's goods.

(Gold coast, 2017-09-13)

#5572

Bring dog back home!!!

(Innisfail, 2017-09-13)

#5573

I'm not even a dog owner but common sense tells you that if an intruder breaks into your property the dog will automatically protect its territory and bottom line is ENTER at your OWN risk - so SHOCKING that an arbitrary decision can be made about a much loved pet who has no history whatsoever of dangerous behaviour

(Brisbane, 2017-09-13)

#5574

Winston did nothing wrong!

(Coffs harbour, 2017-09-13)

#5579

In my opinion the intruder got what was coming ...he should NOT have been in a yard that was not his without invitation. Winston was doing what all good dogs do...PROTECTING HIS FAMILY! He should NOT be put down, the owner should NOT have been fined. The intruder is the one who should be facing prosecution. Disgusting form from MRC

(Bundaberg, 2017-09-13)

#5580

This happens far too often.. I know Council have to respond to these complaints however do not condone the instant fines/& subsequent seizure & Euthanasia of an animal that is a family pet without proper proof that the dog is dangerous. Labelling a dog because of it's supposed breed needs to be looked into more thoroughly before these knee jerk decisions are made.

(ROSEBERY, 2017-09-13)

#5583

I believe the dog was in the right trying to protect its territory and loved owners it was a intruder not a passers-by or member of the family hope you can wake up to yourselves

(Sydney, 2017-09-13)

#5584

This dog was only protecting his home !!

(Saltash, 2017-09-13)

#5585

I think it is just "crazy" that anyone can have their pet taken away... for protecting it's family on their property. Many people have pets, to feel safer & protected. That is what dogs do! If someone is stupid enough to attempt to break into a home or property and get's bitten, that is their own fault & they should be arrested!! The dog or the family should not have to suffer for someone's ignorance!! Save & Free Winston!!!!

(Cooya Beach, 2017-09-13)

#5586

I think it's wrong ,the dog is doin it's job unlike u ppl in government. Stop looking after criminals u idiots and give this family their much loved family member back

(Mackay, 2017-09-13)

#5591

This is bullshit... if someone breaks into ur house our dogs will protect us and u want to punish this dog

(Townsville, 2017-09-13)

#5592

Free Winston Now!

(Patterson Lakes, 2017-09-13)

#5593

Get your act together and do the right thing. Why is it always the criminals that get away scott free and poor Winston has to suffer. Put him back with his loving family today

(Underwood, 2017-09-13)

#5595

Dogs are worth more than people

(Airlie beach, 2017-09-13)

#5598

Its outrageous to put a dog down for doing his job.
Protecting the family

(Melbourne, 2017-09-13)

#5599

A dog is meant to protect, he shouldn't be punished for doing what he is meant to do in his own yard!!!!

(Yeppoon, 2017-09-13)
