My family really loves the music scene here. It gives Macon life.

It is counterintuitive to spend twenty years and millions of dollars to completely rebuild a vibrant downtown community only to then shoot it down for being vibrant. It simply doesn't make sense.

We finally just about have realized our dreams for downtown Macon after so much hard work by so many people. This is a commercial district with residents who choose to live in a commercial district. When I choose to live in a commercial district, I am agreeing to accept all that goes with it, from great restaurants to entertainment to adapting to parking restrictions to dealing with homeless folks to sometimes walking through alleys to get from Point A to Point B to making adjustments for parades and street parties and festivals. All of these things are what makes the downtown experience unique.

Come on folks, let's have some common sense here. Downtown NEEDS the buzz and the noise and the LIFE, and we finally just about have it. It is part of the experience. Let's not try to all of a sudden treat this as a residential neighborhood.

The downtown business district was not a residential neighborhood when I resided above the corner of Cherry and 2nd in the early 1990s, and it isn't today. Don't mess up what this community has sacrificed so much for with a self-defeating thing like a noise ordinance. No downtown commercial district anywhere has a noise ordinance. Imagine if some genius went to Peachtree or Buckhead or downtown Chicago or New York and proposed such a thing. Come on, folks. Let's please exercise some common sense. Macon finally is outgrowing its reputation as a laughingstock. We are finally cool again. Let us please appeal to the common sense of our representatives in local government. County Commisioners, please don't let us down.

#416

I am a musician.

(Forsyth, 2016-12-01)

#417

I would love to see the music scene thrive downtown. I think the noise ordinance will will really hurt that. The ordinance will have a real impact on the businesses downtown. Restaurants & other venues will really suffer. Over the last year, I have really enjoyed going downtown & eating & listening to a variety of bands in several bars & restaurants. I think that things have been improving downtown this year & I would hate to see that change.

(Macon, 2016-12-01)

#418

Macon is music history! We need to save our music heritage and support local musicians with deep roots in the music scene

Macon is known for making music history. The bars and shows are all a part of that. Not to mention at least it brings in dime revenue abs life to downtown Macon.

(Gray, 2016-12-01)

#434

This city is full of shit and I'm tired of music constantly having to take a back seat. This curfew would suck the life out of our already struggling music scene. All this talk of rebuilding...let's ******* see it. Stop breaking us down, Macon.

(Macon, 2016-12-01)

#437

Macon's music industry is growing and Parish on Cherry St provides a great opportunity for new musicians.

(Macon, 2016-12-01)

#438

There has been an amazing resurgence and revitalization to downtown Macon, and while I respect that some make their homes downtown, they are aware of the businesses that function nearby and limiting those businesses would only move things backwards. Downtown needs to keep moving things forward until the good outweighs the bad.

(Macon, 2016-12-01)

#440

Music is pivotal to the night life in Macon.

#446

I love the scene downtown, music included. This music scene is part of Macon's history! These are respectful, hard-working musicians who do not deserve a pay cut simply because someone didn't research before signing a lease.

(Byron, 2016-12-02)

#449

Music is what downtown Macon is about. Many artists have played on the streets of Macon and hopefully there will be plenty more. Keep Macon music alive.

(Byron, 2016-12-02)

#454

I love music. And giving people chances to play for others. Doing what they love. It's amazing.

(Macon, 2016-12-02)

#460

Music and Macon go hand in hand! I wont visit Macon if the noise violation laws are changed!

(McDonough, 2016-12-02)

#461

I'm signing because music in macon shouldn't stop at 9pm. I moved downtown to enjoy the music scene and the night life is 90% of why I enjoy it so much. 9pm is unreasonable.

(Macon, 2016-12-01)

#463

Music inside or outside increases business for the venue that hires musicians, win win situation.

Music is the heart of Macon and when you suppress the heart you kill the whole.

(Macon, 2016-12-01)

#481

It's silly to want to live downtown close to the bars, etc. then complain about the music bein' "loud" on a Fri. or Sat. night!!!!

(Macon, 2016-12-02)

#483

Keeping the art and music alive helps the world become a more positive place.

(MACON, 2016-12-02)

#484

We cannot claim to be a music town then do everything we can against supporting professional musicians and the establishments that support them. Our town gains a lot by supporting this culture and has marketed and supported itself as claims of being a music town. This is the daily part of upholding that.

(Macon, 2016-12-02)

#489

Some of my best memories of Macon involve listening to the bands play downtown late at night.

(Macon, Ga, 2016-12-02)

#491

Downtown should support local artists. I feel that keeping the music is VITAL to the life and livlihood of downtown Macon.

(Macon, 2016-12-02)

I live in Macon. I know a ton of musicians and want them to continue living a musicians life and earn a living doing what they love, without limits. Because inspiration comes at any hour and you can't put a time limit on inspiration.

(Macon, 2016-12-02)

#510

Downtown Macon, in order to prosper, must build on it's most profitable and noteable means of commerce, that being music... Downtown Macon must become like Muscle Shoals, Nashville, or it will not prosper.

(Macon, 2016-12-02)

#514

The success of the downtown economy is more important than one person's convenience,.

(Byron, 2016-12-02)

(Forsyth, 2016-12-02)

#518

MUSIC IS MACON

(Macon, 2016-12-02)

#519

9 am is too early. Musicians and other entertainmerelated in downtown should be encouraged to bring their talent and music to create our vibrant cultural atmosphere. We can't squelch them and expect growth. 10:30 or 11:00 would be much more reasonable.

(Forsyth GA, 2016-12-02)

#523

Grow up. Let the bands play when they want.

#528

I am signing because I value the artistry of local music and do not want to see it end for such not unreasonable law....I do not oppose a noise ordinance, however, I do feel that it needs to be changed within the Downtown Macon area to keep that part of Macon heritage alive!

(Byron, 2016-12-02)

#531

I was born and raised in Macon, just recently moved but come back often. Every time I visit, I always end up downtown just for the live music and atmosphere! With life so busy day in and day out, it's a nice experience to unwind at the awesome restaurants or bars and listen to great music! Downtown Macon had always supported music. It's part of the roots of the town!

(Scottsboro, 2016-12-02)

#534

If people move into lofts in a downtown area, noise is to be expected. The one's complaining about noise really need to just move instead of hurting several musicians and businesses. Macon is all about music.

#540

Keep downtown alive!

(Kathleen, 2016-12-02)

#552

Macon's downtown music scene helped mold me into the musician I am today. Professional music isn't easy, but this scene helped me through the hard times on the road to success. Don't kill musicians' chances to live their dreams by quieting their only voice! Macon is music, it's in our blood! If you don't like it, maybe you should have thought of that beforehand... just sayin

I support downtown Macon and am thrilled with the new restaurants and entertainment venues. It draws people and revenue to downtown. It will never prosper if a few people complain and shut it down.

(Macon, 2016-12-01)

#582

Downtown Macon is know for music and we are in the midst of a great uprise. Keeping it quiet will only hurt what so many have worked SO hard to accomplish.

(Macon, 2016-12-02)

#586

I have continued to live in Macon because of its rich music history and live music events. I have noticed these seem to be slowly fading away. This town is part of the history of music. How can you not share that love with others?

(macon, 2016-12-02)

#587

I love my hometown's music heritage and am thrilled to have it back on the rise again. Sharing it with visitors is so exciting! Being shut down at 9:00 on a weeknight or 11 on weekends is embarrassing. And sends patrons home who would otherwise continue spending with our downtown businesses.
