I have come to know the Norwegian Institute as an excellent scholarly environment with an active academic program. It has an important presence in Athens and its research program is internationally renowned.

I have dear memories of the Norwegian Institute during my stay in Athene in July 2011. The people are very friendly and the institute is warm and cosey. They have a great collection. Please save this beet important institute for all academics!

The Norwegian Institute is a valuable resource not only to Norwegian scholars, but to the global scholarly community. I myself have benefited from its hospitality and resources when attending a workshop at the Institute. It would be a tragic disservice to scholarship on Greece, the Eastern Mediterranean, and the ancient world for the Institute to be shut down.

The Norwegian Institute at Athens is very active, not only in archaeology, and it is an important research partner for many other international institutions in Greece.

Norway has a wonderful opportunity to continue excavation work in Greece.
Norwegian government can decide to support this venue even if 2 universities have withdrawn their support, something which is extremely hard to understand why.
Please do not lose this opportunity to continue such important work!

I sign because I think that the collaboration between Scandinavia and the antique world is important.

I’m signing because these national institutes in Athens provide important support for the significant work of archaeology, history and culture in Athens and Greece. The networking this institute provides is invaluable to scholars and students and without places like the Norwegian Institute, vital work in the preservation, conservation and development of these disciplines may not take place.

Aren't you Norwegians supposed to be super rich, have that fabulous sovereign fund that funds your education, etc.? So what's the story here?

I believe the work the Institute performs is critical to our understanding of human culture and plays an essential role in providing research materials for scholars in the fields of history and archaeology.

I'm signing because it is important for education of student and scientist to continue their work in the only Norwegian institute in that area. But it is also important to recognize that the institute need support from other establishments like other universities etc.

Because the classics and the humanities need to continue to be supported. Especially at a time when so many students need guidance in understanding human nature from our past, present, and future.
