Huntingdonshire District Council Parking Fees

Comments

#603

It effect shopping in the town .

(St Neots, 2019-08-09)

#604

This is ludicrous! I enjoy coming into Huntingdon to shop but as I'm retired I probably won't be coming now as its expensive to park. Come on Huntingdon Council you're supposed to support local shops not support their demise.

(St Neots, 2019-08-09)

#605

I strongly believe that the future for our town center shops is strongly connected to either free parking or very low cost. The Towns will gain just like Ely has done with free out of hours parking.

(st. ives cambs, 2019-08-09)

#611

This decision will negatively impact our town

(St Neots, 2019-08-09)

#612

Our town is struggling as it is without these new charges! It will not encourage people to shop local......pure greed!

(St ives, 2019-08-09)

#614

You are crippling St Neots as a small market town instead of encouraging visitors. When will we get the investment like Huntingdon has had with its new array of shops. We are the largest town with the least to offer!!

(St Neots, 2019-08-09)

#615

This is a disgrace, the towns shops that are already struggling will be like ghost towns 😡

(Cambridge, 2019-08-09)

#616

High Streets are struggling enough as it is. Don’t drive even more retail activity online. Council, you will shoot yourself in the foot if as a consequence you have empty shops bringing in no council tax. A tumble weed High Street, just drives people away and sends all the wrong messages about the place we live in.

(Houghton, 2019-08-09)

#617

I would like the £1 charge reinstated to allow quick trips into town to not cost the earth.

(Cambridge, 2019-08-09)

#618

I am signing as I agree with everything that is said in the petition. HDC need to reverse their decision and reinstate the 1 hour parking option. HDC should be doing everything it can to help st Neots not try to kill it off with stupid Ill thought out actions, come on HDC do the right thing for St Neots

(St Neots, 2019-08-09)

#620

It’s disgusting what you they have done especially when they all get free parking

(St Neots, 2019-08-09)

#621

People should be encouraged into our town.
What about old people ? Who can't walk from Riverside but only need to pop in ?
Or disabled ?
Or young Mums taking kids across the bridge ?
Consider the extra traffic congestion and pollution having to drive through town to Riverside car park .
Not fair people have to now pay double to do a quick errand in town.
You have tried to fix something that wasn't broken

(Eynesbury, 2019-08-09)

#622

I only go to town for prescriptions and bank that doesn't take 2 hrs

(St.neots, 2019-08-09)

#625

Our town needs regeneration and to encourage people to visit and use the high street and local facilities. The parking price changes will make people think about going elsewhere that have more shopping options. I see no benefit in the change apart from pure greed on the part of HDC

(St Neots, 2019-08-09)

#627

We need to support the local town, taking away the 1hr fee is ridiculous

(St Neots, 2019-08-09)

#630

1 hour minimum is to much how about pay for the time your there rather than the time when you've left car park because it was only a quick trip to town

(Corby, 2019-08-09)

#631

Completely outrageous and will further contribute to smaller bespoke businesses going out of business
Shoppers just will not tolerate such charges and to to out of town retail parks where parking is free

(Houghton, 2019-08-09)

#633

This is far too high an increase and instead of implementing and encouraging short term parking they have done exactly the opposite.
Surely a full time parking warden would have cost less than the large decrease in parking in the town this extreme increase will create.

(St Ives, 2019-08-09)

#638

This will be so bad for the small town shops when people only need a short time. All shopping will be out of town

(Huntingdon, 2019-08-09)

#641

The park fees are so high and unfair. The town's will die with them. People are just using retail parks and super stores where the parking is free. the fines are out of control too.

(Cambridge, 2019-08-09)

#642

I often need les than an hour. So an hours new charge is too much. These new charges will not help out town to flourish it will put them off coming into town which in turn will kill our already struggling town !

(St.ives cambs, 2019-08-09)

#644

The county council are making decisions that will have a knock.on effect to many of the small businesses in the town. This decision needs to be reversed and consideration into making the first hour free.

(Cambs, 2019-08-09)

#649

I am frustrated that parking charges have effectively been doubled for short visits into town. This can only be detrimental to the town centre.

(St neots, 2019-08-09)

#653

I think we pay enough already and I don't think in St Ives there are not enough variety of shops we are killing the town

(St ives, 2019-08-09)

#654

This is a joke

(St neots, 2019-08-09)

#657

St neots High street is dying we need to encourage more people to come to shop in st neots, free parking would be a start. I will be avoiding st neots town now because of the increased parking charges

(St neots, 2019-08-09)

#668

I’m signing this because I think th increased parking charges are disgusting. HDC should get in line with other district councils like Leics Notts etc and decrease charges allowing free parking for up to 60 minutes to encourage footfall to the town centres rather than discourage. No wonder our high streets are failing

(Cambs, 2019-08-09)

#669

Increasing parking charges will have a detrimental effect on businesses in St Neots. The Change should have Ben the opposite - 1st hour free.

(St Neots, 2019-08-09)

#670

When going into town, mostly less than an hour...

(ST NEOTS, 2019-08-09)

#673

Working on the Broadway in St Ives I bear witness to the chaos that is the parking situation on a daily basis. The lack of parking control in the town has been causing issues for a long time and this change noticeably made the situation worse almost overnight.
People are becoming increasingly angry about parking in st Ives and are being driven away to other destinations.

(Wyton, 2019-08-09)

#674

I am against the removal of the 1 hour charge in Tebbuts Road car park.

(St Neots, 2019-08-09)

#675

This puts pressure in people who just need to do a quick shop to pick something up. I know I'll go elsewhere rather than pay double for a quick trip

(ST. NEOTS, 2019-08-09)

#677

Because the parking in St Neots prices are rediculous.

(Stneots, 2019-08-09)

#679

I think hire parking charges drives people out of towns centres

(Peterborough, 2019-08-09)

#687

I'm signing this because this is an outrageous stealth tax on motorists again and encourages people to shop outside at retail parks. It is a lazy way to earn revenue which just gets siphoned away from the local area to some central cost code to be used on who knows what!

(St Neots, 2019-08-09)

#689

Because it's a bad thing for the high street and business

(St Neots, 2019-08-09)

#691

I fear even more people will boycott town. Not what St. Neots needs.

(Cambs, 2019-08-09)

#692

Increasing parking costs in town will only serve to kill off our town centres. Is that what our council really wants? Boarded up vacant retail space lining our streets?

(St Neots, 2019-08-09)

#694

I try and use shops in town but will not pay that price to go into a shop for ten minutes . You are killing st Neots

(St neots, 2019-08-09)

#697

I’m signing because there should be an option for 1 hour parking to enable people to ‘pop’ to shops. To pay £1.60 every time for a dentist appointment or trip to the library will be prohibitive for some people. This will discourage people from using the town. In fenland the parking is free so this seems very unfair!

(Wyton on the hill, 2019-08-09)

#698

I feel removing the 1 hour option is unfair, i use the doctors in town and will have to pay more for this. I regularly visit town but rarely for more than 1 hour. I would support a small increase but would like the 1 hour option re-instated.

(St Neots, 2019-08-09)

#702

This will put off people making a short visit into town with the shops suffering.

(St Neots, 2019-08-09)

#704

Parking should be free

(Eaton Socon, 2019-08-09)

#705

I agree the increase in parking charges is unreasonable

(Huntingdon, 2019-08-09)

#706

It’s important to reinstate the 1 hour parking charge. I never am in town more than 1 hour so effectively being charged double

(Huntingdon, 2019-08-09)

#707

I feel this will have a detrimental effect on shops and market stalls in town. I know that I will think twice about paying this amount if I just want to pop into town for one or two items. The obvious choice will be to go to Tescos rather than shop in town. I definitely shop in town more when there has been free parking after 3.00 in the run up towards Christmas. Surely we want to encourage more people to shop in town not discourage them.

(St Neots, 2019-08-09)

#712

High parking charges will discourage people from using our local shops, which in turn will have a detrimental effect on our communities.

(Huntingdon, 2019-08-10)

#714

This tactic will not keep more people in town for longer, it will mean less people will come in the first place.

(Huntingdon, 2019-08-10)

#717

I’m outraged. How is this small town of ours supposed to grow when we won’t get visitors?

(St Neots, 2019-08-10)

#719

I disagree with the charges and removal of the one hour parking option. Our town has no shops of any significance so the need to stay longer than one hour is simply not there.

(St Neots, 2019-08-10)

#720

We pay too much already and taking the 1hr option away is ridiculous 😣

(Ramsey, 2019-08-10)

#721

That's a ridiculous idea. How are you supposed to pop into town and support local businesses anymore. Come on this is very unfair

(St. Neots, 2019-08-10)

#722

I would like to see businesses in St Neots thrive by a reduction in car parking prices. I’d like to see a free 1st hour eventually.

(St Neots, 2019-08-10)

#724

HDC are out of touch with residents, parking at council run carparks should be free for 1-2 hours so to increase footfall and support local businesses.

Recent changes to GP surgeries now mean those who are ill and possibly on low incomes have to pay for facilities that are already part funded by tax payers.

More hosing in St Neots means more tax revenues but this is a decline in services for residence which is unacceptable.

(Eynesbury, 2019-08-10)

#734

Totally ridiculous, unfair. Damaging local high Street economy

(St Neots, 2019-08-11)

#735

As a shop keeper very worried about effect on town. We need free parking

(St ives, 2019-08-11)

#739

The current system works well so why change it? The setup costs will negate any gain and the changes will annoy almost everyone

(St Ives, 2019-08-11)

#740

Car parking fees should be reduced, not increased. More people will do out of town shopping instead of using local shops

(Huntingdon, 2019-08-11)

#741

I often make visits into St. Ives for 30 to 45 minutes maximum.

(ST. IVES, 2019-08-11)

#742

I often only have a quick errant in town, sometimes more than once a day - at least the tickets should then be valid for all parking spaces in HDC.

(St. Ives, 2019-08-11)

#743

This is totally wrong-headed. We need more short stays for trade and market and less longer stays which block spaces. This change seems calculated to drive shoppers to out of town shopping with free parking.

(St. Ives, 2019-08-11)

#744

This will kill an already struggling town centre

(St Neots, 2019-08-11)

#745

I'm so disappointed in HDC for removing the 1 hour option,I really resent paying for a minimum of 2 hours when I usually only need an hour. This is a terrible blow to our lovely town of St Ives.

(St Ives, 2019-08-11)

#747

Tebbuts Road is used by patients of both doctors close by and one hour is more than sufficient to cover an appointment but now both the time and cost doubles. 2 hours is not needed but they can have an hour if they park further away or in a non Council car park. Awful unthought through decision.

(St Neots, 2019-08-11)

#748

I'm signing because I believe that people shouldn't be discouraged from coming into St Neots town centre by parking charges. Ideally we should have free parking.
Most of my visits to the town centre are for a short duration for a specific purpose e.g. visiting the bank, so don't want to pay for 2 hours parking for a 10 minute stay.

(Eaton Socon, 2019-08-11)

#749

Parking charges in st Ives need lowering and not increasing. If we are to give traders as much help as possible, I see no point in making their customers lives harder when it comes to parking their cars

(St ives, 2019-08-11)

#751

Businesses in St Neots are already suffering, and removing the one- hour parking option will discourage shoppers even more from coming into the town centre. Equally importantly, it will add to the costs of those wishing to use the library and other services.

(ST Neots, 2019-08-12)

#752

I use the car parking in St Neots Waitrose regularly on my way home from work; I pop in to get dinner and newspapers etc as I often don't have time to do so over lunchtime. I get to St Neots from work at about 5.30pm, so only have half an hour to pay for which I am happy to do at 80p - but £1.60 will be a cost too far and so I'll probably end up going to Tesco as it's free.

(Little Paxton, 2019-08-12)

#764

I object to HDC doubling the parking charges when they should be free parking to encourage people to use the Town Centre shops.

(St Neots, 2019-08-12)

#765

I only pop into town at lunchtime so don't need to stay or pay for 2 hours parking

(Cambs, 2019-08-12)

#768

I often pop to St Neots on my way home from work, if I have to pay for two hours when my trip will likely take no more than 30 minutes I'll probably go to one of the out of town shops like Aldi or Lidl instead

(Huntingdon, 2019-08-12)

#770

This is an unthoughtful decision - look at the economic state of our small shops and businesses! This will push some of them over the edge.

(st neots, 2019-08-12)

#774

We need to encourage footfall in the town not increase parking charges.

(St Neots, 2019-08-12)

#775

This will kill high street deterring people which will lead to shops closing

(St Neots, 2019-08-12)

#781

Town centres are already dying, this is a bad decision that will exacerbate the situation. People need to be encouraged to visit and by increasing charges and removing people’s ability to visit for short periods for free they will be forced to visit places like Rushden Lakes where parking is free.

(St Neots, 2019-08-13)

#783

Outrageous parking charges!

(St neots Cambs, 2019-08-13)

#787

Council are robbing people

(Huntingdon, 2019-08-13)

#788

This is double to what it was. This will. Put people off going to town.

(St. Neots, 2019-08-13)

#790

I will refuse to park in town. I may as well take my money and spend it elsewhere. It’s not justifiable as there are hardly any decent shops that warrants spending that amount for 2hrs. 1 hour is plenty in St. Neots. People of this town will just shop more in Tesco as it’s free parking! 🙄

(St. Neots, 2019-08-13)

#792

I am signing because I care about my town, you build more and more houses yet you try and push people away from the town centre by raising parking charges. In out of town shopping centres you pay nothing, in Bedford the first 2 hours are free, let’s get people in to town by making at least the first 2 hours free then you have to pay a nominal fee. Please WAKE UP...

(St. Neots, 2019-08-13)

#793

£1.60 is too much for a small market town. We need to increase footfall not decrease it

(St neots, 2019-08-13)
