I belong to Hastings golf club & believe a green keeper should be allowed on site briefly to save the greens from huge expense after lockdown is liftedDenise Bull (Havelock North, 2020-04-08)

I am a regular golfer from a small town and we would hate our golf course to be shut down if we can't afford to fix the course after the lockdown.Jessie Knight (Oamaru, 2020-04-08)

I agree one person to be able to work on golf course to keep up the standard of fairways and putting greens as financially would be an advantage to the whole game of golf.Joan Feasey (Auckland, 2020-04-08)

Let them look after our courses...Come on
1/2 persons to keep the courses going

Golf clubs are struggling financially and many will fail if they will need another 6 - 8 weeks post lockdown bring them back to working order; most clubs could have 1 or 2 greenkeepers working in isolation during lockdown without compromising anyone’s safety with some very simple guidelinesGlen Mitchell (Wellington, 2020-04-08)

It's obscene to leave courses uncut when it's bloody obvious there is no danger of getting the virus doing course maintenance. Concrete heads...Phillip Smith (Chch, 2020-04-08)

It’s essential to keep golf courses maintained otherwise these large areas become a complete disaster.Yanni Dobson (Hawthorn, 2020-04-08)

Greens take years to establish and need regular maintenance to keep them to a high standard and would take months to get them back if neglected too long.Jo Foreman (New Plymouth, 2020-04-08)

I cater at a wonderful golf club called Mount Maunganui Golf Club. We love our club and all want to get back to work as soon as its possible but we don't want our beautiful course to be struggling because then our club suffers. Please let the greenskeepers go backanna herbert (tauranga, 2020-04-08)

Surely golf courses can be looked after, particularly when council grounds and berms are currently being mowed, doesn't make sense?Christine Keeling (Auckland, 2020-04-08)

I’m signing because for people mental health just like walking, golf is a game that can be played in isolation. To also main thing to keep the course well prepared for when we do go out of lock out course will be ready to boost the economy. If we are look long after the grass at parks why not golf courses!Jenna Gainford (Auckland, 2020-04-08)

Peoples livelihoods are at risk! It will cost the country a fortune to get the courses back to the standard the were at. And why? We just need to allow the maintenance of greens for one greens keeper who can be doing the job alone! It’s common sense!Mark Guinan (Christchurch, 2020-04-08)
#659
Golf courses must be maintained, the destruction caused by an extended period of no maintenance will be irrevocable.Isabelle Vanderkolk (PALMERSTON North, 2020-04-08)
#663
I'm signing because it will take months of extra remedial work and cost to clubs to bring the greens back to a playable state...people will leave the game...clubs will close because of the extra cost and losing members and their subscriptions and it will be devastating for the most popular sport in this country - 480,000 members and 10s of 1000s green fee rounds played each year as well.Sue Sowerby (Hastings, 2020-04-08)
#664
Don’t let our golf courses die!Allowing basic maintenance by a lone green keeper will not be a threat to the public and will help avoid the demise of so many courses and the livelihood and employment of all the staff.

Two person team, one mowing, one observing & maintaining health & safety, taking turn about firstly maintaining greens & secondly fairways. Most rural courses will be lost. Most of these are a community 'hub', keeping mental & physical well being for the majority of local club members.Paul Woolright (Paeroa, 2020-04-08)

I’m a golfer & it’s makes such huge sense to allow green maintenance. Green staff can ensure isolation rules are followed at all times & the cost of not doing the maintenance will cripple golf clubs.Vern Pere (Whangarei, 2020-04-08)

I'm signing because I believe that golfcourses need to be kept up so that once golfers can get back out on the golfcourses they will be able to do so straight away, so important for the physical and mental health of our people. If the courses are left it is going to take time and money for them to recover and many courses can't afford this!!Sue Lourie (Hamilton, 2020-04-08)

I'm an employee at masterton golf club and know well and good that we can manage through this lockdown process with the simple allowance for one staff member to simply mow the greens... they are hugely important for us as a golf club. If they are neglected for much longer the damage to greens is going to be unrepaired by this winter. They need to be managed into the winter period so as the club can exist and move forward after lockdown. The golf club is going to be important to the members and community in regards to mental health and happiness. We as a small club can easily have one staff member mow the greens solo without anyone else being around at all. I hope more is done to protect this industry in the future from such horrible events such as this. I applaud the government for the lockdown but more needs to be done to future protect golf club's so they continue to support their communities and the employees who work within the industry. Thanks.Wade Gallon (Masterton, 2020-04-08)

Greenkeepers should be allowed work safely to do essential maintenance on golf courses. This will help the courses come out of lockdown in decent condition, without major turf issues, ready for golfers.Sam Keats (Mangawhai, 2020-04-08)

Green keeping is a profession that requires constant work. The financial burden of the consequences of not having this work continue may force golf clubs to close permanently and unnecessarily. I'm pretty sure greenkerpers can maintain a safe distance during the lockdown and still do their workSam Brown (Christchurch, 2020-04-08)

Golf course turf management is a science & a hugely important skill to produce a product which benefits thousands throughout the country of all ages. If councils can maintain public parks - this is an absolute no brained!Craig Blanchfield (Christchurch, 2020-04-08)

I agree with the sentiments of the Coleman family and live opposite and have seen the work and dedication that goes into the upkeep of this course and now walking there are very aware of the work, particularly on the greens, not to mention $ that will be required to bring them and the course back to playing standards for its members.Leah Garea (Auckland, 2020-04-08)

When the lockdown is over and golfers like myself want to hit the course, we won’t be able to as the courses will take weeks to get back to a playable condition. What is the difference between a park and a golf course if your not going to allow golf courses to be maintained then stop maintaining public parksRyan Pratt (Auckland, 2020-04-08)
#776
The green keeper can stay in his bubble and mow the greens, preventing the ruination of the course.Joanne Arthur (Dunedin, 2020-04-08)
#777
Because I hv played golf for 36 years an know how much work goes into maintaining the greens. Even wen they do maintain them they still can get diseases so leaving them for 4 weeks plus will ruin these greens an it will take forever to get them back to normal.Helen Brewster (Auckland, 2020-04-08)
#779
I believe it may cost the country more in the long run because of the replacing of the greens etc. through insect damage. If one green keeper was allowed to upkeep them (and also perhaps for bowling greens and rugby stadiums also) it may alleviate a lot of further costs.Karina Johnson (Katikati, 2020-04-08)

I am very concerned that our club at Whakatane will not remain viable due to the restrictions on maintaining the golf course during the lockdown. The loss to the community and to so many of our members will have a huge impact on the health and well-being on not only our elderly members but also the livelihoods of those employed at the course.Sarah McLaverty (Whakatane, 2020-04-08)
