He deserves to walk. Don’t punish this senior over another child’s actions. He’s allowed to defend himselfBri Black (Columbia, 2024-05-18)

This student had to work hard to be able to graduate. Plus he played sports and represented out town. Any student that works this hard should have the opportunity to walk at graduation!! Please allow him this right. It’s only fair to allow this after he had to keep his grades up to play ball and represent our town!! Don’t break his heart or his parents hearts for this opportunity. It’s a once in a lifetime opportunity for his exit from High School. It’s something he’s worked hard and earned!!Rhonda Martinez (Pageland, 2024-05-18)

I’m signing this, being a 2024 graduate myself and being very into my school and getting good grades. This is unacceptable, Wilson should be able to walk. It was obviously the other kids fault and there is so much against the other kid, so it shouldn’t affect Wilson AT ALL!Caroline Helms (Marshville, 2024-05-18)

This young man has done everything right during his school years. You should take in account that since he has no record of violence or getting in any trouble and has been a model student and athlete. He needs to walk with his class and go out into this already hard world and continue to be successful. As a school district and authority figure you always want your students to graduate high school receive their diploma and be something in their life and this young man is a perfect example of what that is so please let him walk with his class that he has been with for 12 years of his life. Let his family experience the joy of him receiving his diploma and let him go out into this world and be success and you as a school district and principal be proud of that like his teachers fellow students and family is already proud of him.Glenn Gainey (Charlotte, 2024-05-18)

This should have been sent to the school board for a vote. The principal should not be able to make this decision. This young man should be able to walk if he didn't provoke the fight. I don't know anyone that's not going to protect themselves.Chrishawnda Bostic (Darlington, 2024-05-18)

This young man has worked very hard to get to his achievements such as graduation. He is a student athlete. A student first. An athlete second. Meaning he has always been smart. The grades were already there. He's never been a problem child or a bully.Chifvon Quick (Cheraw, 2024-05-18)

Denorris Wilson was defending his self, this was the first time he have had any altercation, and he have been an awesome student. There is no doubt he should be able to walk across that stage for his graduation. Give him his rewards that he have worked so hard for the last four years. Don't Denorris deserved a second chance like other students have already gotten?Sheila Dogans (El Paso, 2024-05-18)

He deserves this. One of the biggest moments in his life should not be taken away from him. I understand how you may feel but he dedicated his life to school just to walk across that stage. Everyone, and I mean everyone that goes thru 13yrs of school, elevation their skills everyday of the year deserves this.Rolando Wilson (Cheraw, 2024-05-20)

The video, his character as a student & athlete should speak for itself. Why would anyone especially a principal prevent a student from attending and celebrating a milestone that he earned? Those who are on the school board that have been elected and should be to representing the minority community we are watching!!!!Louisea Bracey (Pageland, 2024-05-20)

I’m signing this because I strongly believe this young man deserves to walk at this graduation! This states that he was defending himself!! Aren’t we teaching our children to STAND UP for themselves!? When reading, it was stated that he has not been in any trouble prior to this. I pray that the district steps in and handles this properly and Not deny this young man his right to walk with his class! No one is perfect and we don’t do everything right but denying him this opportunity is indeed, very wrong and unfair!Kayla Gainey (Jefferson, 2024-05-21)

I’m signing this petition because graduating high school seems to be an easy feat, however as class of 2020 I know several peers who did not make it. It is an honor to walk the stage and receive that diploma. Walking the stage makes all four years of embarrassment, discomfort, and determination obsolete and solidifies self image. Everyone whom has proven themselves to worthy of a diploma deserves their right to receive it honorably, especially this individual whom with one indiscretion. Taking this right to be honored is an overshadow to his entire high school career. It truly it not right for this young man to miss out on a once in a lifetime opportunity after working so hard all these years.Jackie Martin (Chesterfield, 2024-05-21)

Sometimes you can only take so much and this kid has worked hard for 4 years for another troubled child to take it away from him, no, he deserves to walk.Elaine Robertson (Pageland, 2024-05-21)

After reading the narrative, this youngman showed accountability for his actions, even though he was the one who was hit first. Also, he has accomplished so much throughout his years of school and seems to have a bright future ahead. He made one mistake, yes, but he should not be denied the right to walk.

defending yourself when someone hits you and getting denied the opportunity to walk across a stage that you’ll never get back is ridiculous. This is coming from a student that graduated in 2020 DURING COVID, y’all need to let him walk and let him enjoy the last few moments of high school as he can while he can at that.Andrea’ Chambers (Jefferson, 2024-05-21)

I’m writing because don’t even know the boy but Mr Wilson should at least be able to walk and get his diploma and leave then if he needs to it seems like he was trying to apologize and leave the situation why would you not give him this opportunity that he has waited for all his life the principal is very wrong in my opinion and maybe ask the school board if he can walk his last time as a high school student I say this is a terrible decision to punish him to this degree sincerely CrystalCrystal Wilson (Kershaw, 2024-05-21)

I’m signing this petition because this young man has earned his place to walk across the stage. It takes a village to raise a child and one person shouldn’t stop him from doing so. Principal you have not been perfect during your life have you? No matter the incident, mistakes happy but don’t deny him this important milestone in his life.Stephanie Digirolamo (New Bern, 2024-05-21)

I'm signing this petition because I feel the zero tolerance policy is often unjust and every student has a right to defend themselves once attacked.
