This dog was protecting its family in the middle of the night, it should not be punished for that.(Mackay, 2017-09-12)
#802
Dogs lives matter too. Unless this dog has a documented history of attack, it should be given the benefit of doubt that it was just protectimg itself and territory.(Toogoom, 2017-09-12)
#804
This is wrong.(Mackay, 2017-09-12)
#805
It's wrong that dog was only doing it's best to protect its home(Mackay, 2017-09-12)
#806
He was doingvwhat he is supposed to ..guarding his family..The person is not a victim..he was an intruder..
The dog is the victim..
And supply the proof.
How dare you take the side of a perpetrator out to do harm..shame shame shame.
(Roma, 2017-09-12)

It's ridiculous that a dog could get put down for protecting it's propertyy , but that intruder wouldn't have been put down if he'd raped the kids or murdered them , it's complete crap.(Bundaberg, 2017-09-12)
#809
This is ridiculous. If an intruder comes into my house i woukd set my dogs onto them and id hit the inruder with a bat. He doesnt belong in ny yard so the dog has every right.(Cairns, 2017-09-12)
#810
Everyone has a right to feel safe in their own home this dog was protecting his family(Mackay, 2017-09-12)

The trespasser is the one that should be accounted for not the poor innocent dog trying to protect its owners property from a person trespassing on their property. Trespassing (if you dont know) is a legal term that can refer to a wide variety of offenses against a person or against property. Trespassing as it relates to real estate law means entering onto land without consent of the landowner and that person did not enter without permission so whatever happens to him is the trespassers doing not from the dog whos just doing his job guarding the property. Also if there is no proof there shouldnt be any sentence. Treat it like a human case, dogs should have rights too, just because they cant speak how we speak...doesnt mean they dont have a voice to be heard.
(Macka, 2017-09-12)

The dog was in his own yard, registered protecting his family. The so called thief was tresspassing and up to no good. Can't we just euthanize the intruder.(mackay, 2017-09-12)
#817
It's disgraceful as a single female I would be grateful if I had a dog like Winston protecting me from intruders he obviously loves his family very much and should be rewarded not put down(Townsville, 2017-09-12)
#818
I love dogs(Rockhampton, 2017-09-12)
#819
If this story is true and there's no proof, then putting down the dog is unreasonable. Innocent until proven guilty, if that good enough for us in court then it's reasonable for animals. Otherwise people could take advange of someone they don't like just to grieve them in a really nasty way. Want proof humans are capable of such behavior, salem witch trials. Innocent people killed in horrific ways just because someone hated them, wanted their land or did it just because they could.(Sale, 2017-09-12)

Ive heard of this kind of issue with council laws before and definitely agree needs more regulations in place(Melbourne, 2017-09-12)

#825
Ive been thru the same shit with councils and feel for this poor dog and owners . No1 should be able to take anothers family member FULL STOP(Melbourne, 2017-09-12)
#827
If someone comes onto my property and my dog bites them then that is their problem as they should not of been on my property in the 1st place. Without proof there is no crume(Logan, 2017-09-12)
#829
The person who entered the yard is the lawbreakers, not the dog - free him now!(St Austell, 2017-09-12)
#834
What the council is doing is wrong(Mackay, 2017-09-12)
#836
What the Mackay Council is doing is so very wrong. The dog was protecting it's own property against the intruder. And it gives other thieves an excuse to get away with a crime if they get attacked from a dog protecting their property.(Mackay, 2017-09-12)
#839
This dog just protected his home and family. The intruder had no business being on this property. Mackay council need to have proof of what happened as they would in any other case. Animals are not just desposible because someone says so. They are part of a family unit and breaking that unit just because someone said so is just mot good enough.(Mackay, 2017-09-12)
#841
this pet / family member was looking after his property , the person should not have been on the property stealing or intent to steal ,the dog was doing what he or she is supposed to do.. please give this pet back to owners .. he was just doing his job ....(Lismore, 2017-09-12)
#844
This is so wrong what the council have done.(mackay, 2017-09-12)
#845
The dog was protecting his family(Brisbane, 2017-09-12)
#849
One persons word against another yet the poor dog is in the middle of this. How many times has this animal done this? I would rather be bitten by a dog who is protecting its territory then have someone come face to face with me where the situation would be a lot worse. We have some very serious issues in Australia with our laws. Leave this baby alone and let him be with his family
(Ipswich, 2017-09-12)
#851
This is not right! The incident happened when the offender trespassing in the middle night. The dog was merely protecting the family and their home.(Mackay, 2017-09-12)
#852
Someone entered the property in the middle of the night. They wouldn't have enteered the property with good intentions. The dog was protecting itself, his owners, and the property. I would defend my property if someone intruded. The dog has no previous history of being aggressive. And should not be harmed for protecting its owner(Mackay, 2017-09-12)
#855
FFS.. So now dogs lose their lives and intruders are compensated lol..What sort of message does this send to communities.. protect intruders at all costs.. even at cost to family and pets.
(perth, 2017-09-12)

A dog should have the right to protect it's owners property as should any resident.(Brisbane, 2017-09-12)
#870
Dogs should not be punished for doing their job and guarding their family! Also criminals should not be able to punish their victims more by making these types of complaints. Shame on you MRC!(Mackay, 2017-09-12)
#871
It seems so unfair.(Ilkley, 2017-09-12)
#872
The dog was protecting his property. Isnt that one of the reasons we have dogs??(Rockhampton, 2017-09-12)
#875
The family dog has every right to protect their yard especially in the middle of the night when an intruder who went into his property, obviously to do something illegal. I think there has to be proof of the attack and hopefully the intruder was arrested for trespassing as well. Mackay Council just don't believe just one side of the story.(Townsville, 2017-09-12)
#879
Outrageous action to a dog that was protecting his family. Bad people always winning over good.(Mackay, 2017-09-12)
#880
Winston was protecting his property(West Mackay, 2017-09-12)
#881
The council did the same thing to us, our dog was seized and put to sleep even though the person who complained said tha the dog that nipped her had a different coloured collar on, that would have been my other dog which o did not believe, we got a solicitor and nothing helped, they were heartless and we suffered terribly.(Rubyvalr, 2017-09-12)
#882
Its sending the wrong message to criminals who have no excuse whatsoever to be on your property without permission. If they enter your property they become liable for any consequence that occurs. Just a greedy money grab from Mackay council, who wont be re-elected if common sense doesnt prevail in this situation.(Mackay, 2017-09-12)
#885
A person who enters your property at night unknown should not have more rights than a dog protecting its family. This is outrageous and must be devastating for those poor kids. The justice system and everything else, seem to exist to protect the criminals and punish innocent people.(Hervey bay, 2017-09-12)
#887
A dog protects his house and owners against a criminal that breaks into house and they want to kill the dog??? No you don't kill that dog!(South Coogee, 2017-09-12)

Because the intruder was clearly going to steal or even worse hurt someone. They were trespassing. Dog was only doing his job.(Townsville, 2017-09-12)
#890
No one has the right to enter your property without permission. The dog was only doing it's job(Mackay, 2017-09-12)
#894
So wrong of our justice system when they side with the intruder on YOUR property & blame you & pets for defending it.(Mackay, 2017-09-12)
#896
Because Winston was only protecting his home and council has no right to seize him. The person who was intruding on the property should be charge!!!(Mill Park, 2017-09-12)
#899
Free Winston!! This dog was just doing what he was meant to do!! Protect his family!!(Brisbane, 2017-09-12)

#916
He was protecting the family.(Mackat, 2017-09-12)
#920
I believe Winston was only protecting his property from an intruder, it's not fair because the dog was doing his job, it's not Winstons fault mackay is full of scum pile junkies that keep breaking into peoples yards and houses looking for things to steal and sell for their next hit. I'm not impressed by the way the council handled this, if I worked for the council and someone came in to report that they were bitten during the night in a yard that doesn't belong to them, I would've reported it to the police straight away for unlawfully entry.(Mackay, 2017-09-12)
#927
The dog was protecting his property he should not be put down, how else are we supposed to protect our selves these days? Let him live please(Glen innes, 2017-09-12)
#929
I own a dog who I love. Any dog may protect his pack and territory. That's what they do. Winston does not deserve to die for biting a tresspasser at night. Nor does it mean he would ever bite again.(Brisbane, 2017-09-12)
#932
Because it's the right thing to do(Shoal point, 2017-09-12)
#935
almost any dog would bite a stranger coming onto their property ESPECIALLY IN THE MIDDLE OF THE NIGHT! Including "non dangerous" little dogs. They are protecting their family. And a stranger shouldn't be on your property!!!!(Mackay, 2017-09-12)
#937
Intruders should not get put above family pets doing their duty(Mackay, 2017-09-12)

#942
Criminals are not the victims. Dog was doing exactly what is it meant to do protecting family and property.(Alligator creek, 2017-09-12)

Winston was doing his job! An intruder entering the yard at 4-5am (obviously up to no good) should know better because there is no way in the world a dog will sit there silent if someone is trying to get it. Disgusted in the Mackay Council. My Winston and I are sending our love your way!(Rockhampton, 2017-09-12)
