Has my partner is a disabled wheelchair user I know how these support services are valued by carers.

(Birmingham, 2019-11-22)

#805

These centres are vital.

(Catterick Garrison, 2019-11-22)

#808

N.Ireland needs an establishment of some kind for respite for our Veterans. The mainland has various centre's across the country. N.Ireland has one and you going to shut it. Consult the people too see what can be done to safe Bennett House.

(Belfast, 2019-11-22)

#809

There is a greater need for these services, the government has stripped the funding to the bone for community care.

(Manchester, 2019-11-22)

#812

Veterans need these places to recoup

(Belfast, 2019-11-22)

#816

I live in a veterans home. And believe these care homes will have a big impact on people's lives if they close!

(Connel, 2019-11-22)

#823

Because Byng House and the other poppy break centres do wonderful work with the people who you donate your hard earned cash to support

(Southport, 2019-11-22)

#826

This decision shows that the RBL is losing sight of it's purpose and acting like a corporage business imtent of bulding funds.

(Eastbourne, 2019-11-22)

#834

These break centres are why I support the RBL

(Weston Super Mare, 2019-11-22)

#836

What a bloody disgrace! Let’s sort this.

(Randalstown, 2019-11-22)

#839

Veterans and people serving benefit and need this service!

(Weston-super-Mare, 2019-11-22)

#841

The RBL is turning into a money making machine rather than doing what it was set up for

(Aughton, 2019-11-22)

#842

The help these centres give to families is invaluable.

(Stockport, 2019-11-22)

#844

When they turn round to the founder of Parade pins who has given them thousands of pounds over the years. Had his license revoked and was told that they would sooner have £1 made by there sale of the new poppies than a thousand pound made by him. So I am one pissed off veteran.

(Rastrick, 2019-11-22)

#850

Benette house provides much needed care to the veterains abd their familes in Northern Ireland..

(PORTADOW, 2019-11-22)

#851

We need this help

(Halesowen, 2019-11-22)

#855

I know Byng House very well, and I have seen many people enjoying their time in that wonderful place. I have been an RBL Member for a number of years, and have helped to run the Poppy Appeal in this area. I am appalled at your proposed actions, and as from today cease to be a Member. Shame on you!!

(SOUTHPORT, 2019-11-22)

#857

This is great service for ourveterans an familys.Im sure there is enough money to keep these places open.Sevice not self

(Cookstown, 2019-11-22)

#858

The service provided by the centres is immeasureable to the recipients, If you remove this facility who or what is going to replace them. I do not feel you have thought enough about the people involved, they need all our support.

(Wakefield, 2019-11-22)

#861

I have used this facility with my late wife and she enjoyed it very much it also gave me some time to be myself again. I am also suffering from PTSD and had applied for another short break

(Truro, 2019-11-22)

#862

Ex forces and it could be me that needs help one day

(Port Talbot, 2019-11-22)

#863

I currently work there so my job is at risk. Our break centre in Weston does so much for our guests. I could tell you loads of stories from past guests on how having one or two weeks stay at our hotel has helped them.
We were told in the middle of the guests holiday. We are expected to keep a happy face an carry on as normal, which has been very hard under the circumstances All the staff are doing the best we can, supporting each other at this difficult time. We love what we are doing. It's very rewarding seeing guests going home on a positive note. Are hotel is closed every January to do any maintenance or refurbishment so we have no guests in during this period. Why not decide to tell everyone then so the guests now an the coming weeks up until Christmas have a great time. Absaloutly disgusting what they are doing

(Weston super mare, 2019-11-22)

#864

I am a collector of 50 odd years with the RBL. I expect services to increase, not decrease.

(Farnham, 2019-11-22)

#865

I know a family who benefit from this greatly it's a life line and a vital service for people who cant access any other services

(Stickport, 2019-11-22)

#867

ex-squaddie, these centres are VITAL

(Surbiton, 2019-11-22)

#869

i help to collect and think this is so wrong

(BROSELEY, 2019-11-22)

#870

As a veteran myself we don’t get enough support and closing these down would cause more problems

(London, 2019-11-22)

#871

This is fundamentally wrong and a retro step for our veterans.

(Carlisle, 2019-11-22)

#873

It's important to keep our veterans rest bite. This maybe the only break they may have..Why is the legion closing these down?. Some veterans have to look after there ill partners and never get a chance of a break to have some me time. X

(Chorley. Lancashire, 2019-11-22)

#877

Ex RN and these centres help so many people.

(Manchester, 2019-11-22)

#878

I manage a shop in southport and alot of ex veteran's and there familys visit our store when staying at Byng house. They rely soley on this place to get away and have a break/holiday and always comment on how well they are looked after and how much they appreciate the service.

(LIVERPOOL, 2019-11-22)

#879

To loose these establishments is wrong.

(Peterhead, 2019-11-22)

#881

I think its disgusting closing down these rest bite centres. They are always full and people need the support and banter you get with veterans and people still serving

(Weston super mare, 2019-11-22)

#884

As one of the largest charities in the UK, the RBL has enough reserves to keep every single one of these respite homes open. There are veterans sleeping rough and dying alone, on our streets... it’s not acceptable.

(Chatteris, 2019-11-22)

#890

I don't think any places that offer care to our ex forces personal and their families should be closed. Byng house is a lovely situated place. So good for rest bite.

(Southport, 2019-11-22)

#891

As an ex employee of SLH I am aware of just how valuable breaks are

(Dorridge, 2019-11-22)

#892

I think the people running the B.L. are making it a business to line their own pockets and not for the people it was created to help.

(Bushmills,N.Ireland, 2019-11-22)

#894

The money that is donated to the Royal British legion. Is given in the belief that it is helping and supporting ex servicemen.

(Bridport, 2019-11-22)

#895

I believe that this facility still is required for those members who may suffer social isolation. The seaside as always been a feel-good factor for those suffering illness. The. RBL needs to review its current policy as this facility still has a place in the veterans World

(Bacup, 2019-11-22)

#896

Bennett house is such a great help to our veterans. With more and more people now needing help and and a break as they suffer from PTSD.

(Lisburn, 2019-11-22)

#900

I'm signing because I use to work at byng house and the feed back from the guest were always positive and u could see how much it ment to them being there so why would u stop this! Byng house was helping those that the royal British legion is ment to be helping. Giving people an opportunity, a better life, friendships, memories and a whole lot more dont take that away from them.

(Southport, 2019-11-22)

#901

If this is about a money saving exercise maybe a cut from senior executives would be more prudent
This service effects those who have supported us over the years the deserve more not less
Shame on you

(Northern Ireland, 2019-11-22)

#902

Northern Ireland collects many thousands of pounds every year for the poppy appeal but only has Bennet House as a resource for veterans .

(Bangor, 2019-11-22)

#905

I’m signing because I am a veteran with PTSD and these break centres and hotels are vital!!

(Southampton, 2019-11-22)

#907

This is a sevice needed to support our veterans to stay in theirs homes and also a well earned break.

(Hull, 2019-11-22)

#909

As a armed forces veteran and a member of the RBL. The sevice provided by the four rest homes are vitally important to many of the exservice community, providing, for some the only possible chance, a break from the norm in a safe environment. As Bennett House is the only home in Northern Ireland, this makes the potential closure a even heavier burden.

(Dromore, 2019-11-22)

#910

I'm signing because the RBL has over £20m in the bank. So use it. Bennett House is invaluable in Northern Ireland. Closing it is like turning your back on the Province.

(Sion Mills, 2019-11-22)

#911

This is a disgusting decision which is totally against the ethos of The Royal British Legion

(Sheffield, 2019-11-22)

#912

This is so wrong

(Comber, 2019-11-22)

#913

This amazing place has been in Southport for as long as I can remember. Gives much needed support to families staff give so much it would be dreadful if it closes

(Southport, 2019-11-22)

#914

Veterans need this service, to deprive them of it now would be for what! Cost saving?

(Pontypool,, 2019-11-22)

#915

I think that this is a retrograde step and is cutting care to veterans

(Chippenham, 2019-11-22)

#916

This is a necessary and wonderful service. I have gained a lot from staying here over about 15 years.

(Portavogie, 2019-11-22)

#917

It will be such a loss to so many families.

(Bridlington, 2019-11-22)

#919

I believe that all ex service men and women and the current service men and women deserve something like this, they fought and fight for our country we need to give them something back!!!

(Liverpool, 2019-11-22)

#920

These are much needed services.

(Pickering, 2019-11-22)

#922

We promised to care.

(Beverley, 2019-11-22)

#928

Any establishment for the good and wellbeing of ex-service personnel should be retained. If we as a community cannot look after our own who will. Not the government.

(Waterlooville, 2019-11-22)

#929

I am a veteran who has health problems, and somewhere like this would be invaluable to me at some time as well as many other veterans in need.

(Shrewsbury, 2019-11-22)

#931

I am signing because the stays at Weston and Southport which were enjoyed by my late father, a Normandy veteran, gave him a huge boost. He made lasting friendships with staff and fellow visitors which continued until his death at 94 years of age. The British Legion stays were the highlight of his twilight years.

(Wolverhampton, 2019-11-22)

#932

These Poppy break centres are a lifeline for forces veterans, an escape from the problems they may have in their lives, a disgraceful decision by the RBL, they claim a "consultation process" will follow, but it sounds like the decision was made a while ago, did they consult members about this

(Southport, 2019-11-22)

#933

I have signed this petition as a current member of staff I feel particularly sad for all our beneficiaries, many of whom come back time after time, for the RBL to claim that a "Poppy Break" only has a short term effect on the wellbeing of veterans, well, have any of these men in suits visited a Break centre, or read any of the messages, some of which I get personally, from people who have stayed, the positivity they get from staying at places like Byng house doesnt just last a couple of weeks, it lasts until their next visit, something to look forward to even if things aren't going so well personally for them, we are a beacon of hope for many veterans and their families.

(Southport, 2019-11-22)

#934

Am a former employee of byng house was there for nearly 15 years before the restructure which has ruined the break centres.
The veterans need these break centres

(Southport, 2019-11-22)

#937

I think it's disgusting these poppy break centres should stay for the armed forces to use and veterans and families to spend some much needed family breaks the wars may be over for now but the wars they still fight everyday PTSD for many dosnt stop save money else where

(Neston, 2019-11-22)

#939

These are a vital retreat for those that need to use them.

(Northampton, 2019-11-22)

#941

Spend the raised donations on these valuable services instead of pointless conferences where members claim money for hotels/mileage.

(Glos, 2019-11-22)

#942

As a member of RBL I think it is wrong to close the Centres

(Cheltenham, 2019-11-22)

#944

These facilities are essential to Armed forces veterans ⚓️

(Manchester, 2019-11-22)

#955

I’m signing this petition because the royal British legion means a lot to me and I do a lot of work through the Southport sea cadets for the legion and byng house. I have been to many events, fundraisers and collections and I think it’s a wonderful place and should be kept open especially because of what it is being used for.

(Southport, 2019-11-22)

#956

They provide an amazing and critical support to ex serviceman and families

(Southport, 2019-11-22)

#960

I know of the great work done by the staff at Byhg House (Southport) and I hope that some public pressure can persuade the British Legion to reconsider their decision.

(Southport, 2019-11-22)

#964

As a past beneficiary of this service i found it invaluable for my self confidence and self esteem to help me face the future. Big thank you to all staff hoping the future is bright for you.

(Harrogate, 2019-11-22)

#965

This is an absolute disgrace

(Bridlington, 2019-11-22)

#968

This shouldn't be allowed to happen. These places are a much needed restbite for Veterans and families

(Liverpool, 2019-11-22)

#969

I feel the Break Centres offer a get away from it all break that is just what is needed by us veterans who suffer in silence.

(Cullompton, 2019-11-22)

#970

While their main purpose is to provide serving personnel, veterans and their families with much needed respite, the RBL break centres also play a key role in the communities they exist within. Closing them would be a travesty.

(Bournemouth, 2019-11-22)

#973

Veterans should not be disadvantaged once again because of spending cuts. Stop doing foreign aid and look after our own first.

(Southampton, 2019-11-22)

#974

Because I've used this accommodation before and it's amazing and great help.

(Lincoln, 2019-11-22)

#975

Family member will loose their job.

(Preston, 2019-11-22)

#976

I donate both at Weston bike night and other opportunities to support local Armed Forces personnel, and the Legion's proposal to withdraw local and national respite care facilities is quite frankly insulting to the people who need these facilities and those who donated to support them.

(Bristol, 2019-11-22)

#977

They are taking away something else from the people who have severd our country

(Bridlington, 2019-11-22)

#979

These units are very helpful for a lot of people they give them so where to go and be with like minded people.

(Enniskillen, 2019-11-22)

#981

I’m a former soldier and I find the RBL brilliant as I suffer from ptsd and various other injuries due to my service...

(Lisburn, 2019-11-22)

#983

These homes are needed by veterans for Respite...everybody donates to the RBL to change a veterans life. This is just beggars belief I am shocked and disgruntled.

(Derby, 2019-11-22)

#984

These places are needed to help many veterans

(Kings lynn, 2019-11-22)

#988

I have seen the excellent work done at Byng House

(Ormkirk, 2019-11-22)

#989

These break centres are well used so why get rid of them? Keep them and allow the veterans to continue to use them.

(Dover, 2019-11-22)

#990

I think it is an absolute disgrace that veterans should be denied this vital service. Millions of pounds are raised for this charity to support these very services. I for one will never buy another poppy if this disgraceful action is taken.

(Southport, 2019-11-22)

#993

We need these not to close

(Crewe, 2019-11-22)

#994

Funds raised are for Forces Veterans, Current Personnel and their families.

(Aylesbury, 2019-11-22)

#995

This is done without any consultation with the people who stand out freezing every November. Don't we have a voice we who served.

(Northwich, 2019-11-22)

#996

I'm signing because I believe this country owes a huge debt of gratitude to our servicemen and women. What better use could there be of British Legion money than keeping this facility open?

(Belfast, 2019-11-22)

#997

I feel as if we as veterans who support the RBL are being cast aside. The legion has a massive fund base and the people at the very top are deciding to run it the same as all the other large charity organisations, by reinvesting the money and holding it in bank accounts. I have no objection to that but not at the demise of the faithful members who give up their valuable time and money to have these amenities sold off for purely financial gain

(Beverley, 2019-11-22)

#998

I see the value of these centres everyday working with veterans who are in dire need of respite, but more importantly the need the children of the veteran have for a break in their day to day life of living with a parent who is struggling in life with mental health issues due to their service.

(Wrexham, 2019-11-22)

#1000

This is an invaluable service for ex-veterans and their families

(Belfast, 2019-11-22)
