My husband and I have been a member of the Palmerston North golf club for over 35years being retired (73 & 80yrs) golf has been our life line being fit playing 3 days a week with friends making new Friends getting together in the club house afterwards.
They say look after the elderly...please give us back our golf courses.

Priscilla Eru (Palmerston North, 2020-04-08)

I feel it is important for clubs to maintain their courses to prevent unnecessary expenditure after the lockdown to bring the courses back up to playable standards

Kathryn Hobbs (Oamaru, 2020-04-08)

#807

I m signing because the maintenance of golf course greens is important now and in the post
covid-19 future of our county.

max Dennison (Auckland, 2020-04-08)

#808

To save our golf courses from destruction, that are valuable assets for NZ ‘s tourism industry as well as for the local owners.

Cynthia Hampton (Christchurch, 2020-04-08)

#819

Already so many jobs and businesses impacted by Covid at the moment, if something can be done safely to also help protect businesses and clubs continue running out the back of this, then that should be supported.

Bronwyn Williams (Napier, 2020-04-08)

#822

If the greens are not maintained they may never recover or could cost a high amount to remedy and a lot of golf clubs struggle already

Sue Kennard (New plymouth, 2020-04-08)

#823

I believe that at least the greens should be maintained on the golf courses in NZ

Glyn Reid (Lower Hutt, 2020-04-08)

#825

Too much money invested to be potentially lost for no risk.

Steve McCormick (CHRISTCHURCH, 2020-04-08)

#826

Logic and no risk to spread of covid19. Economically important whereas fake tanning lotion that MBIE approved as essential is an insult to human intelligence

Phil Perry (Auckland, 2020-04-08)

#829

Here in the Otago region this a crucial time maintaining cover before our greens go dormant. Some will have dry patch others the constant battle with moss and post reno-recovery. Not all NZ golf clubs have qualified greenkeepers, the "know how" and staffing and budgets to deal with this. I fear for the rural/semi rural clubs that are the back bone of the small sporting communities. Disease is already setting in from reports and it's a high price to pay for something that could've been prevented in a safe manor like the rest of the golf world seems to be achieving.

Michael Minty (Dunedin, 2020-04-08)

#830

I think some golf courses could not afford the cost of establishing the greens again.

Les Smeath (Christchurch, 2020-04-08)

#831

To save large amounts of capital for clubs and introduce a safe method for preserving value of the courses.

Geoff Saunders (Christchurch, 2020-04-08)

#835

Because golf courses and particularly the greens need a lot of attention immediately

Frank Harper (Oxford, 2020-04-08)

#838

I believe the damage to our greens will ruin our greens which in turn clubs will have to increase fees greatly to get them back into good condition making it impossible for many people having to give up the sport they love, especially pensioners. 1 person on the course trimming the greens surely is not a major. Even I could drive one of the little cutter machines and not come to any harm and I'm no spring chicken. Come on let them be mowed.

Robyn Bennett (Hamilton, 2020-04-08)

#841

10,000's of New Zealander's are missing their physical recreation that golf courses allow. The thought of some courses not being able to recover their greens at all or more massive delays while green keepers do this will have a continued negative effect especially on those elderly players who want a safe place to exercise

philip gravestock (napier, 2020-04-08)

#842

I feel strongly that a green keeper should be maintaining NZ golf courses during covid19. It's not as if they are putting any one risk as they are working by thereself
It could be the end of many golf clubs if this doesn't happen. Come on Jacinda save our golf clubs

Angelique Eagat (Wellington, 2020-04-08)

#845

I am signing because greenkeepers put there heart and soul into there courses and I think it's criminal seeing the state there getting into now

Bobby Stuart (Dunedin, 2020-04-08)

#851

Golf greens to be maintained twice a week and sprayed according to disease pressure.

Callum Cameron (Auckland, 2020-04-08)

#852

It makes sense to maintain these golf courses now otherwise it will be a huge cost of reparations them later. And this work can be done by green keepers working independently. Thanks for considering this

Anita Bateman (Christ, 2020-04-08)

#857

I believe that one person mowing the greens would not cause a problem if they took all the pins out and were disinfected before the course reopens.

Susan Stott (Oamaru, 2020-04-08)

#861

I come from a golf course greenkeeping background and I understand firsthand the importance of keeping up basic maintenance during this lock down period. Come on MBIE!

Cherry Kingham (Auckland, 2020-04-08)

#873

I am Belleknowes Golf Club Course Supervisor

Brian Johnston (Dunedin, 2020-04-08)

#875

This is important!!!!!

Duncan Burman (Christchurch, 2020-04-08)

#881

If its good enough to allow Council contractors to cut grass it's good enough for golf and bowls clubs. All in or all out. Show some fairness and equity.

Lawrie Warwood (Dunedin, 2020-04-08)

#882

Council workers and rest home caretakers are still mowing lawns . Can’t see risk involved here

Lin Olphert (Tauranga, 2020-04-08)

#883

I have been an employee of golf clubs for 16 years and not only is it my livelihood, I am concerned that many courses will not be able to sustain the lond term costs to reinstate their greens.

Sheila Jennings (Auckland, 2020-04-08)

#888

This is important for the game of golf.

Hamish Campbell (palmerston-north, 2020-04-08)

#891

Not maintaining the course is going to cause damage and will cost a lot of money to bring it back to where it should be! A lot of courses will not survive if that was to happen! Please let the maintenance carry on!

Ashlin Meehan (Napier, 2020-04-08)

#897

Without maintenance which is primarily isolated in its nature, the courses will be irrevocably damaged and in most cases many courses will have to close as they simply can’t afford the money and time to get them back to playing standard. Especially the likes of the award winning courses like Kauri Cliffs, Clearwater and Millbrook.

Jenna Mills (Christchurch, 2020-04-08)

#901

Maraenui Golf Club members have huge investment financially, socially and physically in their golf course, and need maintenance carried out immediately to prevent irrevocable damage.

Maureen Bell (Napiet, 2020-04-08)

#902

It is essential at least one green keeper

Sue Nobbs (New Plymouth, 2020-04-08)

#905

I'm a member of a volunteer based golf club. If the greens are not maintained and are damaged due do lack of maintenance it could be the end of quite a few golf courses which really hav limited funds to spend.

Dwayne Lewis (Dunedin, 2020-04-08)

#906

Hubby is a head superintendent and needs to mow his greens! If the city councils can up-keep parks then 1 Man can go out on a mower and help prevent a huge expensive job in 4-8 weeks time!!

Stacey Kennard (New Plymouth, 2020-04-08)

#912

I’m signing because all golf courses in NZ need to be maintained - our club has struggled throughout the years to get our course to the condition it is in and holding our staff back will remove years of blood sweat and tears from our members!

Vincent Chan (Auckland, 2020-04-08)

#913

As long as they maintain distance from anybody else what risk are the greenkeepers posing?

Sam Sydow (Welington, 2020-04-08)

#917

We need to maintain our good courses other wise the cost of repair will be huge.

Wayne Martin (Khandallah, 2020-04-08)

#919

It’s necessary

Rich Sinclair (Christchurch, 2020-04-08)

#920

It's a no brainer they are on the course alone and think of the financial hardships they'll be in after lockdown if They haven't got a maintained course

Richard Jones (Invercargill, 2020-04-08)

#925

I have been involved with golf since 1987,as a player, committee member, greenkeeper, course superintendent, I have a extensive knowledge of what is required to maintain a turf facility, that provides a place for The public To relax

Timothy Mitchell (Dunedin, 2020-04-08)

#927

It's the right thing to do🤙👍

Kelesoma (Rob) Siolo (Wellington, 2020-04-08)

#928

It is ridiculous that a ground man cant just mow the greens and fairways or essential maintenance.

Robyn Ryan (Hamilton, 2020-04-08)

#930

The cost to repair greens on golf courses once the lockdown is lifted will sadly financially cripple some of them and cause them to close. This at a time when councils are somehow allowed to mow sports fields weekly.

Nigel Hunt (Auckland, 2020-04-08)

#931

As a member of a club a believe this is key to the survival of the course

Damien Powell (New plymouth, 2020-04-08)

#933

I think its important

Sam Khalesi (Auckland, 2020-04-08)

#935

I love my golf club , it’s one of New Zealand’s premier courses

Colin Dickey (Paraparumu Veach, 2020-04-08)

#937

I’m signing this because our golf course the Christchurch golf club needs to continue the drive, expectations and as a role model golf club in Christchurch and New Zealand.

Anthony Doyle (Christchurch, 2020-04-08)

#942

Maintaining golf greens, parks etc is super helpful for post lock down. It's low risk for workers to maintain this wonderful places.

Charlie Arnold (Perth, 2020-04-08)

#944

It’s an industry essential to the mental health and well being for all and sundry. The amount of work required to maintain a course is huge, and requires daily maintenance. To try and recover one, may well see a lot of courses go under financially. Please consider.

David Smith (Esperance, 2020-04-08)

#948

I believe for the continuation of small and large golf courses to continue operations as normal once covid-19 lockdown is complete the maintenance of golf courses is essential

Abraham Wilson (Christchurch, 2020-04-08)

#953

It’s an absolute joke this has been denied and the MBIE has not provided one reason for not allowing it. Meanwhile, council parks are being maintained. How does one employee on a golf course (150 acres) carrying out ESSENTIAL works in isolation pose a risk to the individual or wider community ??

Rob McConnochie (Auckland, 2020-04-08)

#958

This is important! And also bowling clubs need to be considered!

Mike Rutledge (NgAruawahia, 2020-04-08)

#966

I'm signing this because I believe it to be essential that golf clubs be allowed access to undertake necessary maintenance.

Grant Elley (Christchurch, 2020-04-08)

#967

By maintaining the course now, golf clubs will not be burdened with unnecessary cost.

Bharat Kumar (Auckland, 2020-04-08)

#972

The cost of damage to golf courses around New Zealand will be irrecoverable for many courses.

Matt Laming (Wanaka, 2020-04-08)

#974

Golf course maintenance is needed

Scott Sibley (Christchurch, 2020-04-08)

#977

We must maintain our valuable golf courses, it seems ok for the council to send people out to maintain public parks but not greenkeepers for our vital golf courses. Golf keeps hundreds of thousands of our citizens fit, flexible and well.

Philip Stickland (Auckland, 2020-04-08)

#978

Pls allow greenkeepers to access the courses.... so easy to maintain distancing. Golf courses needed constant work to get to where they were..... please rethink!

Kate Doherty (New Plymouth, 2020-04-08)

#983

I tautoko the discussion for NZ golf to obtain an exemption for one staff member to carry out maintanance of golf club facilities.

Terehia Wickliffe (Rotorua, 2020-04-08)

#984

Basic maintenance now will save a lot of money and or jobs in the future

Daniel Leadley (Christchurch, 2020-04-08)

#985

It makes sense

Jason Cook (Dunedin, 2020-04-08)

#987

We need to look after these golf courses like the council’s around NZ looking after the parks.

Ian MacGillivray (Christchurch, 2020-04-08)

#989

I’m signing because it’s essential greens are maintained and there is absolutely no risk to anyone. It’s ludicrous that council parks etc are being maintained. The courses should be open for play esp when dickheads like David clark are still employed. Shame on you labour.

Nathan Ford (Invercargill, 2020-04-08)
