I am sick of being surprised at the blatent waste of tax payer money on renting flower sculptures, sand pits, seats in random places, and now 10kms through town. And god only knows what those random dots on the road are...Wendy Fairbairn (Dunedin, 2020-05-18)

We elected the Mayor and Council to serve the people of Dunedin and greater Dunedin. By acting without consultation they have significantly failed to do this, or to assess ther impact their decisions make on businesses in the CBDLiz Drain (St Kilda, Dunedin, 2020-05-18)
#843
The Mayor is ruining Dunedin’s efficiency of getting around the roads that are already well over-congested. It is a waste of money when so many people are in a time of need. It is ruining all of our small businesses.Ella McCall (Dunedin, 2020-05-18)
#846
Town will become so congested the fumes from the cars at a standstill is so strong when walking with my kids and family. The dots on the ground look like a game for children causing a real concern for safetyTamsyn Park (Dunedin, 2020-05-18)

Waste of money in octagon and George streetMargaret Vorgers (Dunedin, 2020-05-18)
#854
I think that our most recently voted council are acting on their own belief structures rather than the wants and needs of the people who pay their wages via rates etc.The centre of town looks like someone let kids loose with sidewalk paint. ridiculous but still better than dangerous cycle lanes. Another mayor creating a monument to himself that brings no benefit to Dunedin people.
Denise Anderson (Dunedin, 2020-05-18)
#855
Our current mayor doesn't have the ability to lead Dunedin nor follow Democratic processesHamish parker (Dunedin, 2020-05-18)

The council are a bunch of money wasters - didn’t see or hear anything from them during lockdown - now they are wasting all our rates which are overpriced to start with.Kathleen Ring (Dunedin, 2020-05-18)
#860
I have no confidence in this mayor and also most of the councillors. Decisions being made without consultation with public. Not listening to the people, spending our money on stupid things for the octagon and the 10km speed limit through town is ridiculous. Get gone Aaron Hawkins, Lee Vandervis should be mayor I think, at least he listens and has more commonsense.Lyn Billing (Dunedin, 2020-05-18)

#871
Too much agenda pushing without proper consultation. No awareness of the complexity of a city like Dunedin.Gary Shields (Dunedin, 2020-05-18)
#872
The undemocratic and dictatorial behavior of most of the council and worst of all the mayor,,none listen to the ratepayers and the public,,closure of the Octagon and now despite protestations from businesses in the main st they are going ahead with ruining George and Princes streets by making it oneway and a 10kph limit with speed humps and amateurish paintwork on the street with the b/s its all for "safety".All this will achieve will be the ruination of the business sector which attracts people to Dunedin central including The Octagon,,its my opinion these and any further projects will because of the inability to listen to criticism be the death of our city.Ken McHoull (Dunedin., 2020-05-18)
#874
Our Mayor is totally wasting our money on the most stupid ideas of 10k through a main street, plus stupid dots on the ground that money could of gone elsewhere, And taking parks and closing a main Street should be our choice done on a vote not his.. He has no good leader ship at all..Lynn Patrick (Dunedin, 2020-05-18)
#877
I don't trust what the mayor of Dunedin is doing is right.Ben Marshall (Dunedin, 2020-05-18)

#886
I am tired of rate payers money being wasted on stupidity instead of actual infrastructure, or roads etc that actually need it.Thousands of dollars wasted on hiring art work and plant boxes and dots on the frikken roads etc.... time for Aaron Hawkins to go
Carla Seyb (Dunedin, 2020-05-18)

I am so embarrassed to be part of this city. I see other cities and the amazing things they're doing, and then I look at ours and I almost weep.Mark Scott (Dunedin, 2020-05-19)
#901
The Mayor & Councillors do not listen to the opinions of the ratepayers, businesses & others of this City. There is a feeling of dictatorship happening in this city by this council & the rights of what people want & the freedom to be able to vote or have a say has been taken away.Natasha van Staden (Dunedin, 2020-05-19)
#903
Reducing tge speed limit to 10 Kph has absolutely nothing to do with covid 19. It is virtualky impossible to drive a car at 10kph. Why were Lime scooters available on Friday 15th May with no sanitising of hands available. If you want to make George Street pedestrian friendly remove lime scooters from this area as they will be going faster than the cars. I will not be in a hurry to return to this area of town to shop it is a circus.Beverley Eaton (Mosgiel, 2020-05-19)
#905
I'm fed up with the useless excuse of a mayor and local council making ridiculous decisions and wasting our rates on pointless crapHaydie McNulty (Dunedin, 2020-05-19)
#907
As a ratepayer I'm feed up with this councils lack interest in ensuring every day basic maintenance is carried out around the city, yet the mayor and some councilors continue to waste ratepayer hard earned funds on rubbish that no body wants. Its time for a complete change with the rubbish old boys girls club we call a council.Errol Thompson (Dunedin, 2020-05-19)
#909

#927
I'm upset at the street changes that were clearly expected by the mayor and cohorts, prior to council meeting. The money was already spent on road signs.Total arrogance! As for practicality it us absolute nonsense.

At 2 pm 18/5/2020 yesterday I saw the cars banked up on the cross roads because of the extra phase with the traffic lights, when there was very little foot traffic. The dots on the road make the city look like Disney land.Gary Douglas (Wakari Dunedin, 2020-05-19)
#941
Because I don't believe that our current Mayor has the knowledge or experience to competently lead or manage the City of Dunedin. I think if he continues to stay in power, our city will fail before the end of next year.Matt Black (Dunedin, 2020-05-19)

#951
I am sick of being treated like an idiot by a bigger pack of idiots! What a childish move to paint big coloured dots all over the road in a pathetic attempt to restrict access to citizens going about their business!!Suzanne Lane (Dunedin, 2020-05-19)
#953
Aaron Hawkins is wasting rate payer funds on unnecessary, and nonsense projects in and around Dunedin City following his own personal agenda with disregard to the opinions of the general public.Carol Wright (Dunedin / Hawkesbay, 2020-05-19)

The mayor is a plonkerClint Roberts (Dunedin, 2020-05-19)
#958
They have caused major disruptions to our excellent city with no thought of the effects on ALL citizens. Incl the elderly, the mothers with prams and little children, and the FACT most people use cars for moving from place to place with totally disrupted parking throughout the City. Look at the structure: hills, harbour suburbs in all directions, near empty enormous busses, climate, walking in the rain. And so on ...., Make it easy to move around and park IN the city, as it used to be. Heed also the 6000+ who signed the petition on George St. LISTEN to the people. Look after their needs.John Tulloch (Dunedin, 2020-05-19)

The process was wrong. There was no good faith consultation. An arrogant decision was made. We can't have a democracy based on such methodology. Councillors and the Mayor need to be recalled and another election held.Norman Wood (Dunedin, 2020-05-19)

The lack of consultation with community and businesses is appalling.Vicki Scott (Dunedin, 2020-05-19)
#998
This is not the council I voted for..... especially the Mayor!!!! Given the recent choices with no public consultation I strongly believe they will destroy our city. The mayors recent choices and decisions are based on a personal preference, personal view and personal gains financially, it is most definitely not one that sits well with his rates payers, his community or in actual fact his employers, as we the rate payers pay his salary, do we not??!!!!!Stacey Sydney (Dunedin, 2020-05-19)
