I am a 73 year old widow and NYC retiree who would suffer financially to pay the increase cost of $191.00 to keep my GHI Senior Care Insurance Part C (now free) on effect.I appreciate and value feel grateful to have traditional Medicare Parts A, B and C and at my age considering that I am at risk for developing more acute and chronic medical illnesses and conditions as time goes by, this coverage is critical to me accessing quality healthcare . Just last week I was diagnosed with a mass on my thyroid. What peace of mind I had being able to immediately contact and schedule an appointment to see a specialist almost immediately and know that any further testing and surgery needed would not require prior approval. Mayor, certainly you can identify with the need to act fast and independently on ones own behalf. And you must know the fears that come along with losing that independence due to illness, aging or lack of good and proper health insurance. I consider myself quite able to run my own life at this time. Please help me preserve my dignity and independence in managing my own healthcare. Seriously, We need you to put that managed care program to sleep. In doing so you will help us retirees to sleep at night, awake in dignity and maintain our independence and ability to make medical decisions with our doctors, and not with "Big Business." It's preservation we need, not reservation. Save our GHI Senior Care as it is written and free for NYC Retirees. Sincerely, Linda Rizzotto

As retirees who worked long and hard and for less pay we continue to deserve to receive our present health insurance as we signed on for so many years ago and as seniors that is:Original Medicare Parts A & B and supplemental Emblem Health. Please do the right thing Mayor Adams and respect the decision of Judge Lyle and please do not the appeal and acknowledge the inferiority and shortcomings of The NYC Medicare Advantage Plan.Lee Jacobson (Forest Hills, 2022-03-14)

Medicare Advantage plans are notoriously inferior to Traditional Medicare with Supplemental Medigap coverage. I paid into Medicare for 41 years. NYC has no right to deprive me of what I have earned. There are many options to save the city money in its health costs which do not illegally deprive us of our rights guaranteed by collective bargaining agreements and the city's administrative code.JACK BARSHAY (NEW YORK, 2022-03-14)

I'm signing this because healthcare is important to me. I need to be assured that I can get the future care that I need in a timely fashion and don't have to worry about shopping around for someone who will take less than they currently get from our health plans. I've seen the effect of waiting for pre-approvals and possible declining a procedure on friends' health outcomes.Alexis Penzell (New York, 2022-03-14)

I just think that it is wrong to force all NYC’s over 250,000 retirees to leave Medicare plus a medigap plan, which they were promised when they retired, into a questionable Medicare Advantage plan that not all of their physicians may take, and that have numerous pre-approval requirements not part of traditional Medicare or, if they choose to opt out, require them to pay almost $200/month (or $400/month for a retiree and dependent.)James Drinane (Brooklyn, 2022-03-14)

Retirees, whose health care needs are greater as we age, will be hurt by the new plan, and it shouldn't be forced on us--or else pay extra for what we already have. Our current plan with Medicare plus supplemental coverage works well for our needs. This bait and switch tactic, used on people who worked hard for the City for many years, is shameful.Leila Rosen (New York, 2022-03-14)

I’m signing this because I gave 25 years of service to NYC. We all took many hits of very low raises and looked forward to our retirement years of everything that was promised to us. This is a terrible move for the city to take. As a retiree who gave the best of her life, as an RN, in service of the underserved of NYC in the South Bronx for 35 years, I deserve what was promised. To go back on this promise of the continuous healthcare we choose, is unacceptable. The city has thrown away its valuable resource, it's elderly retired people like me. The unions don't care and we know deals were made behind closed doors and without a word from those we once trusted.I used to be proud of NYC. To be able to carry out my career mission as a healer, was my blessing. Eventhough the last few years were really bad, it was worth it to all those I helped regardless of race, color or creed. I had a choice to work under much better conditions, making much more money. But where I was was where I could do the most for people who were like me.
The city needs to do the righteous thing and just be decent and fair. A society is measured on how it treats its very young and old. NYC needs to be of good measure and stop this appeal and restore its humanity. Thank you.

I do NOT believe we should be charged monthly penalties to keep our current contractually earned retirement medical benefits or be forced into a plan that is less comprehensive. It would give me great peace of mind to know that I have the option of keeping traditional Medicare and that my supplemental GHI would remain premium free.
