I grew up swimming in galas at this pool and returned to it dozens of times as a Masters swimmer. It is the heart beat of swimming in Gauteng, together with Ellis Park. It will be a huge loss to the swimming community and all those still to come. I competed in countless swim galas at Hillcrest as a kid and I still swam there on a regular basis to stay fit. It would be a shame to lose access to this facility. Swimming is a vital skill to develop as so many young children drown because they didn't learn to swim properly. The pool is vital to a safer community.Losing the pool will also impact countless swim schools who used the pool for training and other swim meets. How will they recover financially from losing their business, their bread and butter?
Where will our water-lovers go if Hillcrest is closed for good?

On particular its sporting facilities to promote that its citizens develop necessary skills (such as learn to swim) and stay competitive internationally. Champions cannot train at home, they need sportfields, racetracks, full size pools etc.And City shall use professiomal specialised private contractors to maintain its facilities to achieve the necessary quality standards.
