I am a swimmer who grew up competing in Inter-High School galas at Hill Crest during the years 2011-2015. By closing the pool, you remove one of the main pools, and the main Olympic sized pool, that many young people use to train, compete and begin their swimming career. South Africa has many talented swimmers that compete in the Olympics, Common Wealth games and other Global competitions. I used to swim provincially and attended many galas and events at this very pool which was one of the best out of many of the cities and provinces.I trained alongside many stars and upcoming stars to be developed into one.
The swimming pool assisted so many of our children to get courage and determination to learn and to perform .
This a crying shame that it has come to pass and must be reconsidered to provide funding please to safe this pool at all costs

Recreational areas for kids are being taken away. Open air activities where children can develop and burn energie is taken away from them. They are forced indoors with electronic technology.
