They should be given more space. Student associations are a important part of your studies and they enhance succes rates and overall well being.

Having the study association the way it was in 2008-2015 made my study a great succes and I still have a big network of contacts both professional and personal, which is an enrichment while working

Student associations are critical!!

Because I saw this development when I was studying there already. Study associations are so incredibly important for e.g. social aspects, develop on other levels than only academic and they're dismantling them, not given them space.

ChangeVU supports the BETA associations!

Study associations are the beating heart of campus life. Any university should provide them ample space, and be appreciative that its students are active in shaping university life. This is all the more true for the VU, which explicitly aims to be a campus university. Of you want to talk the talk, you should be willing to walk the walk.

The student staff community is a key ingredient for a professional development.

My study association has greatly enhanced my student experience. Initially, I didn't enjoy my time at the VU. However, since joining Gyrinus natans, my student life has become unforgettable, largely due to the association rather than the VU itself. So why should the associations be removed if they are so important to many students? For students like me, university life wouldn't be enjoyable anymore, and many students would quit studying because they feel like they have nowhere to turn to.

Student associations made my life liveable in Amsterdam and I absolutely adore everyone I met because of it

The whole idea of a "VU community" is a joke when the study associations are not facilitated. Student life is not the same without these wonderful organizations, where one actually makes friends and get's to explore ones abilities by for instance participating in a board year.

The VU typically has a student population, where by absence of the City center with all the choices, they depent on the spaces of the student associations to relax and socialize.

The VU (but not our professors!) seems to only want to receive the payment from the student without actually having to teach them or give them space to learn, study or enjoy the student life

I fully recognize the value of study associations in general and at the VU specifically. Current VU policy seems to be far from their advertisements and marketing. Embrace the study associations for student well being!

My student career being apart of the VU has been greatly improved through study associations such as mine and I wouldn't want to think how different it would be without any. I strongly believe study associations are very important for all students.

I'm signing because I know from experience how important the informal meetings in the studentroom were and are, both for students ánd staff (both WP and BP). As well as for the interaction between students and staff. Lots of ideas have been born here, stimulating scientific progress as well as contributing to the improvement of the education.

Its not fair to take away such a large amount of space from the study associations, it could pose a risk to their longevity.
