We are sick of the nonchalance of municipal workers. They are doing us favours by doing there jobs... meters are never read and when they are we are wacked with huge bills because of under estimation of interim readings. The street of germiston are littered with rubbish, roads have potholes, drain of sewer overflow and run for days on end. Refuse not collected timeously, flies and rodents infestation because someone is not doing what they are paid to do. We are tired of the looting of municipal funds while our neighborhoods look like shit and we are force to pay taxes to keep incompetent people in a job. Get rid of the dead wood and employ all races (not only BEE candidates)and you will see a change. There is no pride in this country anymore. Take take take. Those who strike should be fire and their job must be given to those who want to work, starting from the top. Mayor, chief of staff, councilman and the rest. Clean up your act or get out.

The service levels in Ekurhuleni are dismal. There is not one area of municipal responsibility that does not have a problem! Grass is not cut, litter strewn all over, street lights dont work, potholes everywhere and sewage running down the streets, blocked drains, building projects abandoned half way (Klopper Park Fire Station being case in point), structures being build in back gardens of private homes for rental adding stress to the already strained electricity and water systems. No certified building plans seem to be required for that.

The free flowing sewerage is shameful. And it’s near the hospital. Sanitation not! Potholes and sludge are what I run through in the mornings. Overgrown grass on pavements that can hide potential muggers and uneven ground and open manholes. Bedfordview literally smells bad. And when it rains it’s smells worse! The amount of beggars begging and sleeping and living on the streets of Bedfordview have also increased dramatically. They get no support so they’re left to beg in the up market areas and so, coupled with no service delivery, Bedfordview is fast becoming a slum.

I’m signing this petition because I’ve had enough of the poor service delivery in Ekurhuleni. I’ve lost numerous appliances due to the power outages as well as countless clients due to being unable to work without electricity. I have also had no choice but to spend additional funds on fuel for my generator during these constant outages. Besides the electricity outages, there are pot holes the size of wheelbarrows all around ekurhuleni, particularly in Alberton, street lights that never work, poor maintenance of our city centers, little to no grass cutting, inconsistent refuse removal resulting in increased rodents and unhygienic conditions for the residents as well as the recyclers, traffic lights that are consistently out, inadequate low cost housing for low income and poorer residents. The list goes on and on. This mismanagement and collapse of service delivery as a whole needs to end!
