‏Invite professors from universities around the world to jointly support scientific values and condemn the assassination of scientists by Western regimes

In the name of God

The Secretary General,
United Nations Organization,

Subject: ‏Invite professors from universities around the world to jointly support scientific values and condemn the assassination of scientists by Western regimes

On the night of Friday, November 27th, 2020, The Iranian nation painfully witnessed the martyrdom of its distinguished nuclear scientist and inspiring university professor, Dr. Mohsen Fakhrizadeh, who was assassinated in front of the eyes of his beloved wife. Dr Fakhrizadeh was a multi-dimensional intellectual and a scholar of multiple fields of knowledge, who used to work simultaneously in various areas like Physics, Nuclear energy, Quantum Mechanics, Philosophy, Literature, Engineering and Management.

The assassination reminded the Iranian nation of similar previous acts of terrorism, though less sophisticated, against its academics and scientists including:
• Assassination of Dr. Masoud Alimohammadi, using remotely operated IED , next to his house in January 2010.
• Dr. Majid Shahriari - a physics professor at Shahid Beheshti University, who was targeted using remotely operated IED in November 2010.
• Martyr Darioush Rezaeinejad –who was murdered in cold blood in front of his fouryears-old traumatized daughter, by bullets fired on his chest, in July 2011.
• Martyr Mostafa Ahmadi Roshan –who was assassinated in January 2012, also by a remotely operated IED.

Within a short span of time it became evident that the Zionist regime was responsible for all these acts of terrorism.
Not only in Iran, but also in many other places around the world, mankind has been witness to such deplorable atrocities and assassinations of scientists of other nations, supported by western powers.
Many nuclear scientists of Egypt, including Dr. Samir Najib, Dr. Yahya Al-Mashd, Dr. Nabil Ahmed Fleifel, and Dr. Samirah Musa were assassinated in the twentieth century.
More than 730 scientists and university professors of Iraq were assassinated during the presence of American troops in Iraq, in order to severely undermine the foundations of science and technology in Iraq. Some of the victims include:
• Dr. Majed Nasser Hussein - a physician, who was murdered in front of his wife and daughter next to his house in 2007.
• Dr. Nihad Mohammad Al-Raawi - vice chancellor of the University of Baghdad, assassinated while leaving the university along with his daughter in 2007. He shielded his daughter with his body and was killed.
• Dr. Abdul-Sattar Jade Al-Dulaimi - a university professor of micro-biology, who was assassinated in November 2003.
• Dr. Abbas Al-Amiri - Professor and Head of Faculty of Economics at Baghdad
University, assassinated in 2006.
• Dr. Ahmad Nasir Al-Nasiri - Professor of Physics at University of Baghdad, assassinated in February 2005.
All these academics were victims of state-sponsored terrorism. Similar atrocities were carried out against scientists from Libya, Russia and other nations of the world. It is evident that in the strategy of western leaders, innocent people who are busy serving or defending their respective nations are targeted. The political leaders of America and various European states have been trying for a long time to extend the domain of these atrocities to other countries in order to hinder their progress, especially in technological and economic spheres, although the targeted nations had never initiated a war against them.
In the beginning of January 2020, the American president Donald Trump explicitly claimed responsibility for ordering the assassination of the Iranian Senior Commander Qasem Suleimani, martyred along with the Iraqi Senior Commander, Abu Mahdi al-Muhandis. He was one of the most popular figures in Iran and in the west Asian region; A real hero, who, with Abu Mahdi alMuhandis, had a pivotal role in extinguishing the fire of the terrorist force ISIS, which was created and supported by America and its regional allies.

Today, it has become more evident than ever, that “terrorism, assassination and elimination of key individuals” is an integral part of the strategy of the western political leaders in dealing with other nations that have different political views from the west. Any nation who is in disagreement with the interests of western liberal-capitalistic governments is targeted, threatened, sanctioned, destroyed, toppled, murdered or dragged into the endless wars. Let us ask, to where and in which direction are these liberal capitalist superpowers driving our world? Today the question should be asked, what genuine benefit has the modern western civilization brought for the world except for its investments in the advancement of technology?

The western history of colonialism shows how terrorism and oppression are deeply rooted in the west. The world hasn’t forgotten how the Belgian government in the nineteenth century, in order to punish the poor farmers of Congo, used to mercilessly maim or execute their children, or how the invading French government, in order to suppress the freedom movement of Algeria, brutally beheaded eighteen thousand locals, including religious scholars, intellectuals, academics, and national leaders of people’s resistance and freedom movements, and how their skulls were sent to be displayed with pride at museums in Paris, or how tens of millions of Indians, Chinese and Iranians were left to starve and die due to the famine caused by the British government. Considering these bitter realities, it is no more striking that these same governments, who are claiming to be the advocates of human rights, were the ones who provided fighter jets (France) and chemical weapons (Germany) to the dictator of Iraq, Saddam, and supported Saddam’s invasion of Iran in 1980. Even today the on-going massacre of Palestinian children by the cancerous and illegal Zionist regime of Israel, which was created by the west in 1948, enjoys unflinching support by the same western governments. The massacre of Yemeni children by the Americans, English and the Saudis and the massacre of the Rohingya children in Myanmar is also carried out by the support of these same western governments.

We believe that the people of European countries and America are also victims of the deep hidden agendas of the political powers which determine the political orientations of western governments. Aggression and invasion against other nations has its price paid in terms of human and economic resources and the heavy taxes of western nations, yet the illegitimate profits gained by plundering other nations never return to the western people who paid its ultimate price. Instead, those wars end up benefitting multi-national economic corporations, arms manufacturers, war lobbyists and oil mega-corporations etc. Let us ask, what conceivable benefit do the nations of two European countries; France and Albania have, in getting defamed for hosting and nurturing one of the darkest terrorist organizations in the world, the so called “Mujahideen-e-Khalq Organization (MKO)” in their lands, whose hands are stained with the blood of seventeen thousand innocent Iranians? We note in addition, that the annual meetings of MKO in these countries is attended by official representatives from American and European countries.

At the time when the so called secular civilization of the west considered humans to be needless of God for an ethical and meaningful living, and promised a world possessing all blessings through excelling in experimental science and technology, a Muslim intellectual, Iqbal Lahori in around 1925, rightly predicted “Believe my word, Europe today is the greatest hindrance in the way of mankind’s ethical advancement”. He correctly observed that without devotion to divine commandments, and in the absence of piety and internal self-control, any wish for the prosperity and collective happiness of mankind will be eventually sacrificed for the interests of the powerful. Today, the time has come, when the failure of the promise of “human happiness” made by liberal-secular western civilization is evident and perceivable for any impartial observer.

After World War II and the large scale slaughter of more than seventy million men, women and children, mostly of European origin, at the hands of the so called “civilized” superpowers, The United Nations Organization was introduced by the promise of fostering peace. But hopes of the oppressed nations were quite short-lived because of the ineffective and irresponsible behavior of this organization in numerous crises, which was effectively no more than just a tranquilizer to help the western state-supported-terrorism perform their painful surgeries. The United Nations Organization has watched in inaction and silence, the massacre of Palestinian children at the hands of the Zionist regime, slaughter of Bosnian women and children by Serbian forces, murder of Rohingya children in Myanmar and the genocide of Yemeni children by the Saudi regime. In one of these cases a large group of defenseless Bosnian people, especially terrified women and children, took refuge at one of the bases of the UN peacekeeping forces, where following the inaction of UN peacekeepers, they were left alone to be surrounded and brutally massacred by the armed Serbs. During the one-sided Saudi waged war on Yemeni people with support from western governments, the former UN Secretary General Mr. Ban Ki Moon officially admitted the passivity of the UN due to the Saudis’ grant of Petro-dollars to the UNO. Consequently, it is evident that the UNO in its present status can neither defend the oppressed nations nor provide hope for sustainable peace in the world. UNO, by its deadly silence, and by its practical support of bloodshed by global warmongers has been also responsible for the dangerous state of mankind today. The passivity of the UNO against the ever increasing atrocities of the Zionists, the American and the European governments demonstrates the failure of the secular approach to human rights and is a historical proof of the inherent limitations of materialistic humanitarianism, which doesn’t possess sufficient bases to stand against materialistic powers, and inevitably fails in resisting against oppressors and supporting the oppressed, and in the establishment of peace and justice.

Today, in the absence of the sacred and due to the passivity of human rights bodies, the world promised by the western liberal democracy, which was supposed to work for the welfare of all, is uncontrollably heading towards chaos and moral bankruptcy, which only serves the rich at the cost paid continually by common masses as they struggle to make a living. At the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic, people of the western nations experienced unemployment, pain, sufferings and death. According to a report by Forbes, meanwhile and in the first two months after the declaration of the pandemic, the wealth of the billionaires dominating the economy of America increased by a whopping 434 billion dollars, equal to 15% of their original wealth. This is only one example of how the capitalist system profits even through the pain and sufferings of its people.
We should ask ourselves, if the world of tomorrow was perceivable for the upcoming generations of the world, would they be happy to come to this world? Would they be ready to come to a world where genocide and bloodshed of thousands of innocent humans and the destruction and exploitation of nature and environment is justified merely by weighing the materialistic interests and gains?

As teachers and academics everywhere around the world, at a time when truth is distorted through manipulation and selective representation of facts by the mainstream western media, it is our collective responsibility to stand for the truth and to promote awareness within our nations, especially since the objective of every scientific and academic endeavor is ultimately to uncover the truth.
Why has the public conscience remained latent with respect to the crimes committed by western leaders? Why is the hypocrisy and dishonestly of western leaders tolerated? Why should the utterly painful scene of the death of George Floyd, strangulated under the knees of the white police officer in broad daylight, become normalized for us? We have been desensitized, partly because of repeated exposure to violence in media. But no one’s prosperity can be sustained at the cost of the other’s misery, because all members of the human society act like parts of a human body, and one part’s pain, if not attended properly by other organs, will naturally spread to the whole body. We should not remain silent, as our silence today will not give an appropriate message to the upcoming generations; How can any intellectual feel safe in a world where systematic assassinations and killings of intellectuals and teachers are committed and justified by western governments? Let us ask, why are the political leaders of the west misusing our knowledge and the science we develop, in killing, plundering and destroying other nations’ resources?

We the university teachers and professors, collectively commit ourselves to the following:
• We shall not remain indifferent to the activities of the western leaders, and strongly condemn the assassination of our scientists, teachers and intellectuals.
• We, as independent and free thinking individuals, declare that we shall base our understanding and opinion of Islam and Muslims directly upon their true sources, i.e. the Quran and the life of the Prophet of Islam, independent of the biased and manipulated narratives of the western mainstream media.
• We, as free and responsible teachers of today’s world, shall strive to propagate the truth and to awaken and enlighten our students.
• We shall no longer let our knowledge be used to make more advanced weapons and means of destruction of the lives of people who live elsewhere in the world.
• We shall support the freedom of thought and rights of all nations for scientific progress.
• We shall consider the fatal failures of the liberal-capitalistic system, in its vows for human prosperity and recognize its dehumanizing nature.
• And finally: We would contemplate the alternative to the current oppressive order of the world, by gathering around the belief in the one and only God, and by nurturing internal piety and God weariness to stand against oppression, aggression and greed.

Today, it has become evident for the free minded and free thinking individuals of the world that the depiction of the so-called super-powers as omnipotent and infinite is completely false and fabricated. By virtue of this intellectual awakening, the dominant materialistic and arrogant political order of our time, that has hindered nations in their progress, will eventually fade away. Those clear sighted individuals who are striving to awaken their societies will soon unite under the leadership and guidance of that wise and intellectual man, whose advent is promised by all religions, the promised saviour, to fill the world with equality and justice as it is filled with tyranny and oppression today. This is the future of the world, and the promise which God has given to humanity through his messengers, to preserve the light of hope in the hearts of those who struggle today for peace and justice, and for them to know that their efforts will, without doubt, join to the brighter horizons of tomorrow.
