#1762014-06-20 01:37We need positive role models for our kids. Definately, Liquor Stores are not one of them. Tell these Liquor Shop investors (Leaches) to look for other options to earn money, not sucking money out of people in front of school. |

#177 Re:2014-06-20 01:48I live in Auckland and there is a Liquor Store less than 100 metres also... from my son's intermediate school in Manurewa and the owners have been robbed numerous times and shot at twice in the last 10 years. Kids are suppose to be the future and should be inspired... These places don't give much inspiration with the people that hang around these stores between the hours of 10am - 4pm. The Government needs to intervene.

#178 SAY NO TO THIS SALE OF LIQUOR APPLICATION...2014-06-20 01:53As parents we need to feel that our children are in a safe enivironment and how is a Liquor Store across the road from a School going to do that. Do we not have enough Liquor Stores in Mangere as it is. I wonder if any of the other higher socio economic areas have liquor stores opposite any of their schools, something to think about ??? |

#1792014-06-20 02:01What in the world as if South Auckland needs another bottle store. Just stupid. |

#1812014-06-20 02:32Its the distribution of resources like this created by government and its subsystems that creates inequalities in the health of Maori and Pacific people |

#1822014-06-20 03:01Our Youth have enough challenges, let's not give them an 'easy' outlet in having the option of buying alcohol, on their door-step. Find a mall, shopping complex to put this bottle shop, definitely NOT opposite a high school! |

#1852014-06-20 04:44I think it is so stupid to have a Alcohol shop especially straight across the road from a School. What kind of message are we sending our children and community. This is going to lead children off track and influence in a negative way. My children also attend this school, and there is no way that I would like my children to be exposed to this at all. This need to stop, and as a whole community we need to get strong numbers to get this message out. |

#1862014-06-20 06:58Do not encourage our children to have easy access to nasty things. Avoid it as mush as possible. |

#1882014-06-20 11:19Think it is wrong to have a liquor store going across the road from a school, what kind of example is that setting for our future generation. There was so much broadcasted about alcohol, ages & effects it has on families as well as the individual that consumes it. Too many liquor outlets around the country, they too need to be shut down. It is disturbing to see it in our community more so near a school..... |

#1892014-06-20 13:08ZERO TOLERANCE FOR LIQUOR STORE NEAR SCHOOLS, KEEP OUR CHILDREN SAFE, THEREFORE NEED STRICT RULES AND CRITERIA FOR CAREFUL CONSIDERATION BEFORE LIQUOR LICENSES ARE GRANTED. |

#1902014-06-20 20:46South Auckland has the highest amount of alcohol outlets then any other area in New Zealand. If this not a major concern on its own then this is worrying! South Auckland is already riddled and negatively over represented in many social and health issues, some related specifically to drug / alcohol. The Council's approval process needs to be reviewed to account for community best interests and not to mention community outcries and protests. Fast food outlets and liquor outlets are killing our people! When will we wake and realise that although economic gain is important, without people alive ... its all worth nothing! Question - I wander what the reaction and decision from council would be if a request was put in to open a liquor store (with the same proximity to Southern Cross) near schools like Kristen School in Albany Or Strathallan School in Karaka ... somehow I do not think it would yield the same outcome. The students at Southern Cross (like anywhere else) are our future, they are 'taonga' - treasures ... lets do our best to keep this perspective a lasting one ... NO TO THE LIQUOR STORE ON WICKMAN WAY, NO TO ANY MORE LIQUOR STORES IN OUR SOUTH AUCKLAND COMMUNITY!! |

#1922014-06-20 22:32I never cease to despair, at the number of times respective Councils will turn down permits for the most ridiculous reasons,-when, at the same time they will approve such a blatant disregard by the applicant, to the negative PUBLIC effect a liquor outlet would have, in such a position. |

#1942014-06-21 03:56I totally agree to disagree with the decision for a liquor outlet next to Southern Cross Campus. I live on Wickman Way, and think this is a stupid idea for a whole host of reasons. this will have a detrimental affect on the community, especially the residents who live on this street, and when the shit hits the fan, who will be there to pick up the pieces! this will attract a lot of unwanted people, and this; in effect will make our streets unsafe. my question to the council who approved this is; when this becomes a serious issue for our community, will the council be held accountable? |

#2002014-06-21 12:56I fully support the petition. Our communities have already suffered from the impacts of drug and alcohol with our young people and the community as a whole. I'm sure those on such licensing board or committee are not from the areas where such liquor store is going to be because if they are they would oppose to such application due to the experience, knowledge and awareness of the effects such issue have on our communities. Such approval widens the gap between profit over people and adds more weight on alcohol, drugs and violence in our communities. It encourages more violence resulted in more serious crimes. Real people need to be on those licensing boards. |
