#12014-11-13 15:14My two children got an excellent start to their education within the friendly, safe and small scale environment of Grays school. It is essential that facilities that could be used for education are not sold off, creating larger and more over-crowded schools. |

#22014-11-15 13:30As an ex Newhaven person who had 2 children who attended that school, I definitely think it shoould be kept. The disruption of moving to the Harbour school would be great especially when the swing bridge is in operation, and the lack of adequate toilet facilities. If Grays school land was bequaethed for the young there maybe a stipulation in the deeds to this effect. |

#42014-11-20 21:06I thought the land was left by Dr A'brooke with the proviso that it was to be used for educational purposes only? In any event it is very short sighted to knock down a perfectly good school when the population is surely set to increase with all of the regeneration projects in Newhaven or has the council no faith in its own iniatives? |

#52014-11-22 19:40I believe that this land was given by Dr O'Brooke to be used for educational purposes for the people of Newhaven and it is still need as such. Harbour Primary does not have enough space. |

#62014-11-22 19:51This is still needed as a school. The Church Hill building is overcrowded. |

#72014-11-22 20:05If the land was left for a specific purpose then that should be upheld! If not more and more people will not leave legacy's and those people are getting few and far between as it is! |

#102014-11-23 08:31Amazing how the deeds disappeared when it was to the advantage of ESCC. Either retain the current buildings or if land is developed, it should be for the use of the community, not sold off jus to fill the council's coffers. |

#112014-11-23 11:21 I grew up in Newhaven and there was always places to go and you felt very safe and I think if its not going to be used as a school then it should be used for the children and the community for somewhere where they can go I only moved out of the area when I got married but I come back and visit a lot but over the years it has changed and the places are more limited for people to go so I think it should be made use of and not pulled down. |

#122014-11-23 13:18Short term gain for ESCC - Long term loss for Newhaven. The deeds are out there! Someone knows! ESCC Cover up! Harbour site for 500 pupils is just not large enough! Grays site should be used for the Nursery and Special needs children |

#152014-11-23 14:21The site was gifted to Newhaven for educational purposes & therefore should remain for educational purposes! |
Guest |
#162014-11-23 14:27Don't let ESCC dispose of this site for residential purposes! This was given to the residents of Newhaven to educate there children & thus should remain! |

#172014-11-23 14:30This school should never have been merged with Southdown under the name of Harbourside. It was just another case of the council ignoring parents/residents concerns. |

#202014-11-24 08:14That area was given for a place for education for children in Newhaven. Therevare no special schools in this area and there is a high level of sen in this area. The land should be used for that purpose |

#222014-11-27 09:27I favour the continued use of this site for educational purposes and for SEN in particular. Failing that, if it is decided that the site should be developed for residentail use then I would object if the site were to be overdeveloped with a large number of flats. I think that any development should blend in with other properties in the area ie bungalows or houses. And that the proceeds of the sale of the site should be used to benefit educational including SEN provision for the residents of Newhaven. |

#232014-12-01 10:09As said many of times here the land was donated to be used for children and education by Dr Booke also known as Dr Gray because of house and land that was named at one time. Dr Brooke use to keep horses on this land before being donated. As always corrupted ESCC with their usual back handers and conviently loosing documents to gain an advantage. Hopefull this land can be saved from thier corrupt hands unlike other parts of Newhaven. The school should of never been closed in the first place, if the headmistress couldn't run two schools, then they should of got someone to do the job in the first place. This district should be taken back by Newhaven Town Council and its people and residents should have say once again! |

#242014-12-30 19:56It seems unbelievable that the school was closed, and yet the children have been moved to what is now Harbour view, which has not sufficient classes that it has to use porter cabins |

Please DON'T think that the trees will save the grounds!
I can state and have seen, and under the authority of LDC, they do not care when it comes to trees. In our next neighbouring town, a similar incident and everyone thought the trees would save the grounds, WRONG!
Even though said trees were certified by two independent specialists and tree surgeons, LDC own specialists said they were diseased and they were cut down and destroyed very quickly at blink of an eye.
Yet again in Newhaven over the last couple of days, a development site is being worked on. The original plans shows the trees will not be touched and the tree roots were surveyed and protected. What was I seeing, the tree's being cut down. LDC was not interested and was only the help of Newhaven Town Council that intervened and got an interim order to stop. But i don't think they will be safe.
All I’m saying is, when it comes down to the crunch, prime development land, back handers, corrupt councillors and dodgy handshakes, LDC do not care. Prepare to wave good bye to the trees which I’m sorry to say as excuses will be made.
