Omdat die eerste kaptein wat gaan toer het in die Britse Eilande met 'n Suid Afrikaanse rugbyspan gevra is nadat hulle daar aangekom het wat die span se naam is? Waarop hy geantwoord het "Noem ons sommer die "Springbokke" Die hele wereld ken ons as die "Springbokke" juis daarom is die embleem so belangrik om sigbaar te wees! Ons dra die "Springbokke" in ons harte en vandaar is dit so belangrik dat die embleem op hulle harte is!
