#512015-10-07 18:10Because we are losing our open spaces and playing fields at an alarming rate and to lose 50% of another playing field that was used for 12 months of the year for a number of different sports, should be opposed as strongly as possible. |

#522015-10-07 21:30The playing fields hold many fond memories from my formative years and I would love for others to have that same experience. It is also a lovely green space for the local community |

#552015-10-08 10:37So many playing fields are being built on,where are the kids going to play, perhaps they will all join gangs! |

#562015-10-08 11:28As a member of the English Schools' FA Council I must support my colleagues who need playing areas for the children they work with. The addition of a 3 or 4G surface is welcomed but not as a replacement for FOUR pitches. In addition, fine! |

#572015-10-08 11:53The Silesians, who have played on that playing field for many many years, have been thrown out by the very charity that bears their name. Epsom Sports Club hope to be part owners of the site and to develop sports facilities there too, but the extra traffic generated by living units will put an intolerable strain, not only on Old Schools Lane, but on the one way system too. |

#602015-10-08 14:38As Competition Secretary for the Inner London County Schools' FA I see the closure of any Playing Field to be hugely detrimental to the health and wellbeing of local communities. |

#612015-10-08 14:59With obesity increasing and the future pressure therefore on the NHS how can anyone think that selling off any playing field is a good idea? We should be encouraging everyone to be more active and that starts at school age with competitive sports a building block of the benefits of teamwork, effort and reward. |

#632015-10-08 17:49As a past pupil of Salesian College Battersea and having played sports on these grounds for many years, I feel that the sale of the ground would be a great loss to the local community. |

#642015-10-08 18:091. This is a Strategic Open Space - approving this building application would destroy the Council's Planning credibility. The Care Home (if needed at all) should be built on one of the Council's designated building sites. 2. In the most recent Sport England participation study, hockey is played by just 125,000 people, less than 5% of the 2,660,000 people playing football. To remove 3 scarce football pitches and replace with one all-weather hockey pitch (a very different surface not authorised for competitive football) is contrary to logic and all Planning principles. 3. Old Schools Lane with its dangerous blind bend and heavy school children pedestrian traffic is not suitable for additional vehicles. |

#652015-10-08 18:16Far too many of outplaying fields are taken away by developers for their own monetary gain with no thought whatsoever for the general public! |

#672015-10-08 22:25I'm disappointed in finding out that the playing fields in Ewell will be taken over by some planning developments. |
Guest |
#682015-10-09 07:05Because the development will deprive my nephews, who go to school near the site, of a place to play sport. There are alternatives to building on sports fields and other open spaces. The planning department has an obligation to protect our green spaces for future generations. |

#692015-10-09 07:35Do not develop on green space of any kind.. there's plenty of already concreted land to develop. |

#702015-10-09 08:05I am concerned about the loss of playing fields and sports facilities and even more development in Ewell Village putting yet more pressure on the infrastructure if planning permission is granted. The decision to evict the former occupiers shows contempt for Ewell Village residents and local education institutions. |

#712015-10-09 09:04Ewell is a lovely village with a lot of character. The schools are an important part of what makes the village so lively during the day. The pupils need adequate playing fields both during and after school. There is also plenty of traffic through the village that this development will exacerbate. |

#722015-10-09 09:25This petition is dedicated towards preserving sports and playing fields for young people. The building of homes should not be at the expense of and decline of green open space which is an essential part of childhood and youth development. |

#732015-10-09 10:15It is plain wrong to build over playing fields which are used by local schools and the community. Once these areas are stolen by the developers because the council want to make a quick buck and ignore the residents, they can never be reclaimed. In an age when children and adults alike have to deal with busy lives and jobs a space for letting off steam and learning new skills on the sports ground should be retained. |

#74 Re:2015-10-10 11:06Profit making - dont make me laugh. You obviously know nothing about Espom Sports club. All money is ploughed into providing community sports facilities - including a big colts section. |

#75 Re:2015-10-10 11:14Totally agree - this proposal brings many more sports to the community - football, hockey, lacross, tennis, mini football. AND it gets the grounds put into trust in perpetuity so they stay a sports asset for the community for ever - no risk of being built on. |
