Fortnightly bins collections are a retrograde step. There are four of us in our house and the brown bin is full every week. And the green bin is also full every fortnight - we are even forced to take green waste to to Chelson Meadow as there is not sufficient space in the green bin. This is a waste of resources, petrol etc. . The reduce collection is bad for public health and the cleanliness of the city. It could easily lead to an increase in flytipping.

I pay for a service and i expect a service, not only that what about the risk of disease, rats and all the rubbish over the street, and fly tipping.its going to cost more in the long run to clean the rubbish up,that you could of collected on a weekly round, are you people in the council living in a different world than the rest of the city.

This is a backward step, how are young family's going to manage. Everything will be needed to be wrapped more than normal that means more Plastic bags used. Smells to deal with especially summer time.
Just remember who implemented this at the next council Elections.

Common sense

I signed because I have relations in other parts of the country who do not have our excellent bin collection service and it would be a very retrograde step to lose it.

I signed because I think the bins will stink and it will encourage fly tipping. We already put everything in the recycling bin that we can so I am yet to understand how a fortnightly collection will encourage recycling. Someone please explain!!

So important to preserve hygiene and best practice., esp in the Summer months .

I am concerned that there are certain members of society that will still not bother to recycle their rubbish despite the fact that the brown bins will be emptied fortnightly, therefore the rubbish will just build up which will encourage rats and flies. Some people will just carry on and ignore the rules and put their rubbish in the wrong bins, no matter how you try and educate them.

Ti try to prevent bin collections going to fortnightly, a nightmare in the summer.

My non-recyclable rubbish is minimal so I changed recently to the small brown bin, however there would be times with fortnightly collections that it's size would be inadequate. I am also concerned about smells and hygiene.

2 weekly collection is too infrequent and will lead to bags left outside of the bin and the increase of vermin.

2 weekly collection will lead to bags left outside of the bin, the increase of vermin and bags split by vermin and the increased likelihood of disease.

we still pay the same amount of council tax so should receive the same amount of collections. unless there is a reduce payment and there is no health risk with the new arrangements.

Fortnightly collections of brown waste is a potential health hazard. If Plymouth City Council are reducing the service then there should be a commensurate decrease in Council Tax.

I Think two weeks is too long between collections. We get little enough for our council tax anyway !

We pay for this service.
To go to fortnightly collects will encourage vermin and also smells which will increase flies during the spring summer and autum months.

Because even with weekly collections some residents are very careless and untidy with rubbish so if the collections were less frequent then it could contribute to a health hazard and rubbish falling out of bins onto the pavements plus the smell that would encourage and of course rodents and seagulls scavenging .

We pay for bin collecitons.
Standards must be maintained.
Management should reduce their ridiculously high salaries that they don't deserve or earn if there is a budget issue.

Fear of rats and fear for public health if meat and fish waste is left for two or three weeks. Cats, foxes and seagulls will have a field day when bins are full to overflowing. Spain has daily bin collections.

As a personal thing. Either garbage is collected every week, or it gathers in my living room, and I know what I would prefer.
