I agree whole hearted that this was an act of Genocide! I am both English and Irish and proud to be both I love no side over the other. However I do acknowledge what the British did to the Irish over the centuries is cruel and barbaric.

The so called famine was a genocidal war on the Irish people by the British.

THE FIGURE OF ONE MILLIONS IS GROSSLY MISLEADING, THE TRUTH BE TOLD IT WAS MORE LIKE FIVE MILLION, THOSE WHO PERISHED FROM HUNGER OR SOUGHT REFUGE IN FOREIGN LANDS

This genocide has to be written in all Western history books and further atrocities that were committed against the Irish eg, slavery in West Indies, Barbados and the barbaric treatment of the Irish slaves (not indentured) on English owned plantations in America as well as political prisoners sent to gaols in Australia.

It's a truly disgusting thing at play here!
Yet the same thing is still happening all around the world with the same players still committing such atrocities.

It's time for this racism to stop. Every time it happens other races it's genicide but with the Irish it's always played down.

This was a very sinister tragedy inflicted on an innocent and kind hearted people of a poor oppressed nation by an evil heartless ruling class and government of Britain. Who to this day have not Apologised for their heinous crimes againist our nation. It must also be pointed out that this was and should be no reflection on the ordinary people of Britain who were very generous to this great nation of ours in its darkest hours of history, these people themselves were then and still are been done over by their own government as are we in Ireland by ours who feather their own nest and not bother to acknowledge the suffering of our ancestors for what it was Genocide.
May these great and tragic people never be forgotten.
A Brit, neither proud nor ashamed of it

It would be nice that our children are in deed being taught what we are paying the schools to do, is teach the true facts of history, science, and so on. not teaching theories as facts or stories as real history.

Brussels had a similar situation - however they did not suffer the same fate as the govt closed the ports - NO EXPORTS - instead they feed their own FIRST
