#12014-02-05 12:52Its not just about drinking on the street, it is about making it affordable for everyone to enjoy the holidays! Not everyone can afford $8 beers on the ave! Sign the petition and help keep delray a city by the sea for EVERYONE! |

#82014-02-05 18:51Delray Beach lawmakers: Just look at where many of the signatures are coming from: not just Delray Beach, all over South Florida. These people come to your town to enjoy the festivities like they have for years. Forcing adults to remain standing next to restaurants with poor views of the street and overly expensive drinks is likely to make persons decide against making the drive to your town, thus taking away the valuable business Atlantic Avenue festivals bring, which is the main point of having them, isn't it? |

#11 Don't move backward2014-02-05 23:08Just a scant 26 years ago the streets in Delray were totally empty after 8 pm. The town has become what Boynton and Boca wish they could be. People come for the great community gatherings. I have NEVER seen drunk sloppy patrons at one of our events. Don't stop the music and keep the open containers. We have a thriving town because of it not disspite it. People have moved down town because of the activity, don't listen to the few who complain about all. |

#15 Re:2014-02-06 20:12Good luck in making him change his mind! But the part where you talk about making it affordable but mention the biggest hoax/ripoff of a "Irish" pub (like $10 beers and $20 shots after tip LOL?!) in the town is quite an oxymoron. Lol just saying. |

#212014-02-09 17:03I shared on my Facebook as I hope many of you will too. We now pay $50.00 to park where it was once free and have tailgated there for 35 years, and it would be a shame to have to go up to Palm Beach for their parade instead. Delray needs to worry about their rehab housing instead of people trying to have a good time during special events. Shame on you Delray Beach for shutting many of us out. WE are the people who made you and supported you for all of these years. |

#232014-04-27 23:00We just returned from the Delray Affair. For at least 10 yrs we have stopped at the Colony Hotel to have a drink on the porch and "people watch." This year we were told they couldn't serve alcohol until after 4 PM essentially because of the open container law. Really? So we went to a restaurant across the street and sat on their sidewalk and had a glass of wine. Ok, we were not walking around with it, but we were still outside! Hello - you can get just as wasted inside as outside if that's your intent! And what's to prevent people from just bringing their own? I'm sure some people do anyway. Wouldn't it be better for businesses during a specific event to make an exception? |
