NEW TENT RESIDENTS DURBANVILLE

Comments

#2001

This area is not suitable for people to live. No ablution , They must be moved to more suitable areas. We as rate payers are trying to uplift and upkeep our area and this is degrading our town. They must move.

Jacobus Retief (Durbanville, 2022-07-17)

#2003

I believe the squatters will increase and create a dangerous situation. Insanitary and creating more begging around our community.

Pamela Humphrys (Cape town, 2022-07-17)

#2006

The tent town is degrading the suburb of Durbanville. It is creating health and safety issues.

Vernon Kruth (Durbanville, 2022-07-17)

#2010

I feel unsafe in my own home town

Ashley Anderson (Durbanville, 2022-07-17)

#2015

This is a concern as the tents are accross the street from the Primary School. The residents get dressed and wash outside their tents.

Trix Riedemann (Durbanville, 2022-07-17)

#2016

I'm a landlord

NIC BARNASCHONE (Cape Town, 2022-07-17)

#2018

TOTALLY UNACCEPTABLE!!!! SAPS, LAW ENFORCEMENT AND THERESA UYS ARE USELESS AND DOES NOTHING AND JUST KEEP PASSING THE BUCKET. PLEASE EVERYONE EMAIL THERESA (theresa.uys@capetown.gov.za) AND MAKE THEM DO THEIR JOB FOR A CHANGE. OTHERWISE WE SHOULD ALL STOP PAYING OUR MUNICIPAL BILLS TILL THEY ACT...WE CANNOT WAIT TILL SOMETHING TERRIBLE HAPPENS.

Juan Jooste (Durbanville, 2022-07-17)

#2019

I'm very concerned about the inappropriote housing community popping up.

Mary-Ann Swanepoel (Eversdal Durbanvikle, 2022-07-17)

#2020

I'm signing this petition because there is no ablution facilities and they wash out in the open, naked, and there is a primary school right across from this area. I don't think children should be subjected to this.

Jo-Anne Adene (Durbanville, 2022-07-17)

#2021

I reside in Durbanville and find these tent towns in my area and Cape Town in general unacceptable, hazardous and untenable, residents will eventually remove these squatters themselves with prejudice so if the city wants to keep this from happening it needs to remove them asap.

Quintin Jordaan (Cape Town, 2022-07-17)

#2024

Please remove the tented camp at 1 baxter

Jean Christian Bergsma (Durbanville, 2022-07-17)

#2034

The tents and people must move to the existing informal settlements

James Magner (Durbanville, 2022-07-17)

#2044

I don't want elligal squatters in our town, who don't pay for any services. It is also a safety concern so close to the local primary school and businesses.

Joanna Van der Westhuizen (Durbanville, 2022-07-17)

#2053

Having a tent-town in the middle of our town is unacceptable and looks terrible. It's also across the road from a primary school and residential area. The houses along Baxter Ave would probably be unsaleable. Visitors to Durbanville would be apalled.

Nick Elzinga (Durbanville, 2022-07-17)

#2055

Im signing because it is ridiculous that this has been allowed to become such a big problem!

Helona Coetzee (Durbanville, 2022-07-17)

#2060

I am concerned about the safety of the residents in the vicenty

Corinne Jansen (Cape Town, 2022-07-17)

#2063

Walking naked in public in plain sight of kidz
Healthhazard due to no toilet facilities/bathroom facilities
Littering
Time to get them settled in community which is not open park area

Lindie Du Plessis (Vergesig Aurora Durbanville, 2022-07-17)

#2067

I agree that developing informal settlements must be stopped in Durbanville.

Janci Du Plessis (Durbanville, 2022-07-17)

#2069

I am a tax payer working on church street. I have to drive 100m away to see clients to avoid the smell off urine and possibly getting harassed by the homeless celebs living in front of the police station!

Collie Pretorius (Durbanville, 2022-07-17)

#2071

It is unacceptable. Plain and simple.

Brand van den Heever (Durbanville, 2022-07-17)

#2075

I've been a resident of the Durbanville area since the 1970's and I'm not happy with the way the town looks as you enter it.

Sharon Durrheim (Durbanville, 2022-07-17)

#2076

These people need proper housing facilities, with running water and toilet facilities. Also it damage the image of our town.

Harold Strydom (Durbanville, 2022-07-17)

#2077

Finally!!!!

Evette Pretorius (Durbanville, 2022-07-17)

#2083

Squatter camp to be reallocated.

Mariette Friend (Cape Town, 2022-07-17)

#2091

I am TOTALLY against the increasing amount of tentdwellers in Durbanville.
It's a security and health hazard!

Joyce Ford (Durbanville, 2022-07-17)

#2092

Those tents are growing - need to do something now!

John Mclean (Durbanville, 2022-07-17)

#2095

It is totally not on to have a squatter camp in our area. It is a sore eye. Crime is a fact and they must be removed. It gets bigger by the day.

Annake Neethling (Durbanville, 2022-07-17)

#2096

This is not a suitable area for people to live. It is unhygienic and a health hazard, not to mention the safety risk due to possible fires as the occupants are often seen making fires. Local people have also been attacked and hurt as the occupants are aggressive and have thrown civilians passing by with stones. The bus stops are also a great concern as people are unable to utilise them for the purpose for which it is intended due to destitute people occupying it as places to sleep and defecating and urinating in these areas.

Lise De Beer (Durbanville, 2022-07-17)

#2099

Unsafe and undignified way for people to live. No facilities, health risks and risk of criminal activity around the area

Dulaine Stander (Durbanville, 2022-07-17)

#2101

I do not want a tent camp in durbanville

Lynette Pistorius (Cake Town/Durbanville, 2022-07-17)

#2105

This is not dignified to have people living like this.

Pieter Lerm (Durbanville, 2022-07-17)

#2106

I am concerned about my community

Cobus Meyer (Durbanville, 2022-07-17)

#2125

Nie die regte plek vir hawelose tent kamp nie by skool en ingang van Durbanville

Ria Malan (Durbanville, 2022-07-17)

#2126

Durbanville has become a shit hole.
We no longer support business is cbd and have lost faith in local government, Law enforcement and SAPS.

Theo Bruwer (Durbanville, 2022-07-17)

#2127

My children will be attending the primary school and i need to know they are safe and will be safe during school hours. That they wont be witnessing people living out in the open publically displaying nudity as it has been before

Lauren henry (durbanville, 2022-07-17)

#2128

We cannot tolerate people setting up informal housing "tents" anywhere they deem fit in our beautiful town

Zelda Oosthuizen (Durbanville, 2022-07-17)

#2133

I do not want this informal settlement in the middle of Durbanville. It is a health and safety hazard and is degrading for our town and the residents/home owners in the surrounding areas. It started during Covid and was just allowed to expand without proper interference and action by the Councillors and Law enforcement entities.

Charlotte Lingenfelder (Durbanville, 2022-07-17)

#2134

I agree with Richard

Jerry Groenewald (Durbanville, 2022-07-17)

#2136

It affects the security of our city.

Stuart Murray (Durbanville, 2022-07-17)

#2140

It is unacceptable to have people living in tents without services in the centre of our town and adjacent to a primary school.

Helen Horsman (Durbanville, 2022-07-17)

#2141

They cannot come and create a living in ground that's not theirs.....where is this going to end and how can it even be allowed.

L Wilkins (Durbanville, 2022-07-17)

#2148

Councillors and Municipality officials need to start doing their jobs. And- the only way for evil to triumph is for good people to do nothing. And even not so goid peopel!!!

Nallie Smuts (Bellville, 2022-07-17)

#2154

As taxpayers we have to pay increased municipality fees, we have to pay for security, we have to pay to get plans approved even for a fence. While these squatters can just erect their tents wherever they want with all the higiene, health and safety hazards. And nothing is done about it. As law abiding taxpayers we cannot accept this any longer.

Marietjie Martin (Durbanville, 2022-07-17)

#2159

I would like the government to help the homeless in another way. Uplifting them and create jobs for them. Not living in tent anywhere.

Simone Huysamen (Durbanville, 2022-07-17)

#2160

Concern

Cobus Van Rhyn (8 Fairtrees rd, 2022-07-17)

#2161

Our beautiful town is now a security risk and I can no longer have a morning run without feeling afraid. This is unacceptable!

Junita Van As (Cape Town, 2022-07-17)

#2164

Stupid residents are supporting squatting with handouts. This destroys home values & rates collection, and creates a nightmare for property owners in the area. There needcto be consequences for the irresponsible empowering of squatting in undesignated areas.

Ben Kellerman (Durbanville, 2022-07-17)

#2167

The living conditions are inhumane. The tension between the community and the residents of the pop-up tents are escallating because it seems that NOTHING is being done by the very people we voted for to effect change - not just for the rate payers, but also for the people living in these conditions. The frustration is pulpable, because instead of dealing with the root cause, those that do 'move' only relocate a few streets down... just to move back again.

Debbie Marx (Durbanville, 2022-07-17)

#2171

It is unacceptable that individuals may reside unchecked in this area!

Grant Frte (Durbanville, 2022-07-17)

#2178

Dit is oor en oor gesien in die RSA dat sulke klein en onbeheerde "plakkers" gegroei en dan ontplof het in n onbeheerbare delm en misdaad area

Jurie Calitz (Kaapstad, 2022-07-17)

#2180

I have very concerned about the vagrants in and around Durbanville. This presents several problems such as lack of sanitation, decreases property value, increase in crime etc.

Joletta Poynton (Cape Town, 2022-07-17)

#2182

I think it lowers the quality of our town and it’s an eye sore.

Austin Parris (Cape town, 2022-07-17)

#2184

Another squatter camp
In the making ! Security and health concerns

Jill Hanekom (Durbanville, 2022-07-17)

#2185

This tents and illegal "camping has to stop! Crime is increasing and our rights of safety in our neighbourhood is taken feom us!

Heidi Steynberg (Cape Town, 2022-07-17)

#2188

For safety of our children and the environment. There are facilities for the homeless, but they don't want to go there as there is no alcohol or drugs allowed. This can't go on

Stella Stapelberg (Durbanville, Cape Town, 2022-07-17)

#2192

This situation is brings a health and safety risk to both inhabitants of this tent community as the residents of Durbanville.

llewellyn De Kock (Durbanville, 2022-07-17)

#2195

an informal settlement just rising up where it wants is a recipe for big problems and the down grading of our formal towns and properties. It is the responsibility of our local authority to ensure health, safety and structure for its rate payers. Remove these people that just moved in during COVID

Hannes Lingenfelder (Durbanville, 2022-07-17)

#2197

I want homeless and tent people to be given dignified facilities, not pollute the suburb.

Louise Athiros (Durbanville, 2022-07-17)
