Creativity is all we have left in this country. Think of your kids, kids. They might have a dream or passion that will be hindered by this ageing mentality you & your team have. The youth are fighting for rights that should be given naturally. Let us live & decide our own futures as you and those before you did. Skrrt.

I'm a singer song writer and it greaves me greatly that we as singers and song writers are being abused by the people copying our work and sharing it amongst each other freely. This is serious and needs to be looked at. It is motivating the public to copy and share and to do this instead of buying a album. We as artist are making little to no money already and this delusional outlook from the public is causing us to stop making quality music because we don't have the capital to invest back into our art, our business, our livelihood.

(Johannesburg, 2019-03-25)

#2760

I'm signing this petition because, contrary to the popular noise - the current copyright law actually protects the rights of the authors and artists, who do at least receive income from royalties - for what is their creative content. The creative content industries also help provide a platform for the generation and sharing of cultural diversity - helping disseminate and reward the artists. Removal of the rights of the artists and industries will destroy jobs in industries which tell the stories of our own country: there will be no local stories in future - as the industries slowly die, South Africa will ventriloquise other global expression and ideas. We will lose our own vibrant, multi-voiced culture, livelihoods and sense of identity - to the benefift of the Facebooks, Googles and such like. Mr President, please reconsider see that the proposed amendments will cost the country its own identity - which we are collectively trying to sculpt.

Musicians need to be compensated for their hard work and dedication to making this world a better place through music and entertainment. A place where people meet in peace and happiness and have good times together. This is their job and they must be fairly rewarded for it just like we do in our day to day jobs.
