The R 711 road problem is an emergency. Our tourism is going to be crippled. Having the road closed for 12 months just can't happen. TOURISM, guesthouses, buisnesses, schools, medical emergencies are hugely affected. This is one of the most beautiful scenic roads in the country. Motorists, bikers and cyclists make a point of enjoying the experience of riding it. Our R 26 is also a shocker taking peoples lives and damaging their vehicles due to many many shocking potholes. We are surrounded by poor roads but the R 711 mostly has just this small section damaged. Please can an efficient solution be put into place.

The road a serious health and safety issue. If the Enginering department based at roads department can open their minds there will be seen to have other options than to close the road for repairs. A secondary dirt road adjacent to the existing pothole road is one

That road needs to be repaired under the roads act as it is a vital route between province's. Taxes have been paid by road user's allocations were put in place. Low maintenance is reason for the collapse of the road. This needs attention soonest. Enabling road users access to and from.Sam Van wyk (Gauteng , 2022-02-07)

This is a road I frequent often as a local tourist to add to the economy of both Fouriesburg and Clarens ensuring jobs for the locals through money spent in their towns and on their services. Restricted road usage is unacceptable with a waiting period of 12 months this should be a priority as Clarens is a local tourist hot spot.Izelle Nel (Umhlanga, 2022-02-07)

The road from Clarens to Fouriesburg and beyond to Ficksburg is a strategically important one for local economic development and the promotion of the tourism industry and trade with Lesotho (when extended ro Ladybrand). Thousands of South Africans rely on this route for their livelihood and it cannot simply be closed for a year. The alternative route via Bethlehem is three times as long and will cause great economic hardship in an already struggling region. Moreover, in order to avoid similar issues, the Free State government needs to completely upgrade the road from Clarens to Ladybrand - it is in a disgusting state and is incredibly dangerous to drive on.Duncan Bonnett (Johannesburg , 2022-02-07)
#293
Because its a major business and tourism route, the roads department is hopeless, and totally uncompetent, now they want the easiest way out for themselves, and that is by closing the road for 12 months, totalle unacceptable, they must find a way out, they are afterall governingEdith De Villiers (Bethlehem, 2022-02-07)
