Repeal Ranked Choice voting and give us Voter ID!

Comments

#1

My vote needs to be protected!

(Fairfield, 2019-01-24)

#5

I believe RCV is unconstitutional, I believe in one person one vote. I don't want my vote to count for anyone I did not vote for.

(Lewiston, 2019-01-24)

#6

An individual should absolutely be a citizen of the country and state where they vote and that person should have a single vote.

(Houlton, 2019-01-24)

#7

RCV is illegal!

(Charleston, 2019-01-24)

#8

I'm signing this because it is unconstitutional and a blatant couoe by the communist I mean socialist ( socialism is communism by definition )to take over.. communism has been banned since 1954 just because they use a different name doesnt mean they dont fit the description

(Livermore, 2019-01-24)

#11

I do not agree with the premise of RCV.

(Newcastle, 2019-01-24)

#13

I vote only as it has always been!

(Charleston, 2019-01-24)

#14

This is needed. Rank choice is bad for Maine.

(Vassalboro, 2019-01-24)

#19

Because RCV is unconstitutional & the right to vote is a very sacred thing & no one but me should get to decide where my vote goes & it is a privledge to be a citizen and as such only those citizens should be able to vote

(Bradley, 2019-01-24)

#20

I've been voting for 47 years. Never have a seen more than one candidate on a ballot that I'd vote for! I won't be forced into voting this way. I marked one name on my ballot & hope it counted.

(Leeds, 2019-01-24)

#22

I got one vote, many ,many got three during last election.

(Arundel, 2019-01-24)

#23

I believe that this method of voting is contrary to the spirit and intent of the Maine Constitution. The wording of the last referendum on this subject caused me to submit an unintended vote of "yes ", when I was totally intent on voting to defeat the implementation of rcv. RES

(Arundel, 2019-01-24)

#29

One vote period should count.o

(Winthrop, 2019-01-24)

#30

RCV does not reduce negative campaigning, it does not reduce the money spent during a campaign, and it does not honestly give the winner over 50% of the vote. It is a travesty against our State and National Constitutions.

(Appleton, 2019-01-24)

#31

Ranked choice voting is illegal and not for Maine

(Saco, 2019-01-24)

#33

Repeal Rank Coice Voting. It is unconstitutional. One person; one vote.

(Damariscotta, 2019-01-24)

#39

RCV is unconstitutional.
Voter ID should be required for ALL elections

(Hollis, 2019-01-24)

#41

Bruce Poliquin won the 2nd CD election and Jarod Golden was seated. I am not confident that I used the correct strategy so my vote would count for Poliquin in the second round. I shouldn't have to use strategy. We should return to the 200 + year old tradition of one person, one vote.
I have 5 picture IDs in my wallet. Two are issued by the federal government and 3 are issued by the State of Maine. I have to present ID to get on a plane, enter a federal building, get into a courthouse, or get on a military installation. If some one is too poor to be able to get an ID then put their picture on their EBT card.

(Brooks, 2019-01-24)

#44

I am signing because rank choice voting is misleading and not the will of the people. The initial ballet question was worded so intentionally confusing that no one even knew which way they were voting.

(Wiscasset, 2019-01-24)

#45

Because the loser shouldn't represent the people. That's what elections are all about.

(Presque Isle, 2019-01-24)

#50

This is not a true vote nor a legitimate winner.

(Yarmouth, 2019-01-24)

#51

I believe rank choice voting is unconstitutional.

(Gray, 2019-01-24)

#52

Ranked choice voting is a scam to help Democrats win.

(Orland, 2019-01-24)

#58

For over 250 years one person one vote was the law of the land. It served us well.

(Wiscasset, 2019-01-24)

#59

One vote per voter

(Orland, 2019-01-24)

#60

I vote for one person..the one I want in office not the one someone else wants!! I believe that this rank choice voting is wrong!!

(Sedgwick, 2019-01-24)

#61

Rank choiced Voting is against our Constitution...one vote, one person is how America's voting system works ..and that isn't how it worked with this dems new socialist scheme to fraud the American citizens at the voting booth

(Norridgewock, 2019-01-24)

#62

I consider RCV to be against one man-one vote and ILLEGAL. Voter ID is important to insure that only US Citizens vote.

(Greenville, 2019-01-24)

#63

I'm signing because there should only be one vote for each voter and I'm not fond of participation trophies and RCV is essentially a participation trophy voting system

(Lewiston, 2019-01-24)

#68

The state can't afford this voting method or the fallout that came with it last November.

(South Berwick, 2019-01-24)

#72

I am for the 1 vote option. We have a right to choose and not be surprised by some math equation which is unfair and does not maintain the voting rights in America.

(Hancock, 2019-01-24)

#73

I truly believe RCV is a rip off by the democrats

(Trenton, 2019-01-24)

#75

Not fair!

(Bangor, 2019-01-24)

#76

One voter / one vote.

(Madison, 2019-01-24)

#77

Rank Choice Voting is a very expensive way to run an election and is NOT a majority vote

(Detroit, 2019-01-24)

#78

1 voter— 1 vote!

(Lebanon, 2019-01-24)

#79

This is important

(Owls Head, 2019-01-25)

#81

Because RCV is a not the way to have an election

(Ellsworth, 2019-01-25)

#82

Ranked choice voting is not constitutional.

(S. China, Maine, 2019-01-25)

#83

Liberal Corruption and Deception is out of Control. And this is one of the examples of it.

(Swanville, 2019-01-25)

#86

I’m signing because I think ranked choice voting is inherently unconstitutional. There is not one man /one vote as specified. A person can vote as many times as there are candidates. Also it will go a long way to eliminate fraud if voters have to prove their identity. A person can’t get on an airplane without identification. Why can they vote without proving that they are who they say they are

(Belfast, 2019-01-25)

#88

I’m signing this person because ‘one person one vote’ matters to me!

(Augusta, 2019-01-25)

#90

I am signing this because I voted against RCV and I am upset that it cost us our representative, Bruce Poliquin who won that election.

(Moscow, 2019-01-25)

#92

I'm signing because the Democrats have gotten so radical.

(CHELSEA, 2019-01-25)

#94

It is against the Maine constitution and it's a stupid way to put someone in office

(Boothbay, 2019-01-25)

#95

One person one vote.

(Brunswick Maine, 2019-01-25)

#96

I oppose RCV, and feel it has undermined my and my family's trust in our election system. It was put into place by outside $$$, playing games with Maine's system, and my district, CD2, rejected it outright. Get rid of this!!

(Strong, 2019-01-25)

#101

each person should have 1 vote and only 1 vote.

(Milo, 2019-01-25)

#104

One verified person, One Vote!

(Patten, 2019-01-25)

#109

This is a deseptive way to skew the results of the vote. It is complicated and was funded by out of state big money.

(Alfred, 2019-01-25)

#111

RCV is unconstitutional. Why is Maine the only state in the nation to have this?

(Kennebunkport, 2019-01-25)

#112

I was not propery informed about RCV and the ramifications when initially brought to the ballot.

(Wells, 2019-01-25)

#114

don't like RCV want voter ID

(Unity, 2019-01-25)

#116

It is unfair to allow someone 2 or 3 or 4 votes just because they wasted their 1st one. My guy didnt win, so your guy cant win either...

(Lee, 2019-01-25)

#118

This is an unfair and unethical. One vote! One choice!

(Orono, 2019-01-25)

#121

Ranked choice voting is wrong
It should be one vote per person

(Limerick, 2019-01-25)

#122

I'm tired of giving some people extra votes

(Orrington, 2019-01-25)

#127

One person, one vote.

(SAINT ALBANS, 2019-01-25)

#135

I believe in one person one vote!

(Lincoln, 2019-01-26)

#136

I want each vote to count only once.

(Greenville, 2019-01-26)

#137

I Have That Right

(Bucksport, 2019-01-26)

#138

This voting method was designed to prevent the top candidate to lose, unless s/he gets over 50% of the popular vote. The more candidates, the better chance of it working. It's not the intent of our forefathers to create this monster..

(Pittsfield, 2019-01-26)

#140

Ranked choice voting is unconstitutional

(North waterboro, 2019-01-26)

#141

Many people were confused by the ballot question and thought they were turning RCV down, only to find out afterwards that it was the other way around. RCV is not what our constitution calls for. One person, one vote.

(Monticello, 2019-01-26)

#142

My choice was stolen. In a run off election I would still vote for my first choice; who happened to have enough votes to be in the run off. With ranked choice, the choice to vote again for my first choice was stolen, as it only allowed me to select a second choice! This is unconstitutional!

(Eliot, 2019-01-26)

#143

Ranked choice voting is unfair.

(Norridgewock, 2019-01-26)

#145

I think it is a way to distort the outcome of a one vote for all. It's time consuming, expensive, and does not reduce the political rhetoric during a campaign. It encourages the possibility of people running against someone, then pulling out just before the election, and then asking their supporters to vote for the one with like views. It's like two running against one. Not right.

(N. Waterboro, 2019-01-26)

#146

I think rank choice voting goes against the constitution. One person One vote.

(Norridgewock, 2019-01-26)

#147

I'm signing because I want to put you in your place

(Bridgton, 2019-01-26)

#148

The wording was deceiving and misleading when it came time to vote. Worded in a way that people voted for ranked choice when in fact they did NOT want it.

(Woolwich, 2019-01-26)

#149

Voter ID is critical to fair elections

Rcv is a flawed system

(Lyman, 2019-01-27)

#151

RCV amounts to nothing more than participation trophy voting!!! One person, one vote!!!

(Gorham, 2019-01-27)

#153

I'm in strong opposition of rank choice voting. It is a sham way to run elections and corrupt and bypass people can easily take advantage of it.

(Augusta, 2019-01-27)

#158

rank choice voting is not constitutional and people that voted for it really weren't sure what they were voting for because of the way it was worded which i believe was intentionally done by the people who put this on the ballot.

(Winthrop, 2019-01-27)

#159

People should only get to vote once!

(Orono, 2019-01-27)

#161

RCV-Ranked Choice Voting goes against our Constitution and our voting system. I support ending RCV in Maine!

(Auburn, 2019-01-28)

#163

We lost a man who won ( Bruce Poliquin) because of Rank Choice voting...Pitiful...

(Sabattus, Me., 2019-01-28)

#170

I’m signing this petition to END ranked choice voting (RCV) because it’s an unConstitutional piece of legislation pushed by out of state communists who want to undermine our elections and our Constitutional Republic. RCV is how the democrats cheat and steal elections from the rightful winners. It’s unAmerican and there’s no place for it in America.

(Lebanon, 2019-01-29)

#175

One vote, one person.

(Waldobro, 2019-01-31)

#176

It is technically illegal . Too much room for confusion

(Newport, 2019-02-01)

#177

Ranked choice voting goes against the will of the people. One person, one vote!

(Denmark, 2019-02-04)

#179

I'm signing because RCV is a sham and a scam, and just costs the State more money for a non valid outcome.

(Ellsworth, 2019-02-05)

#184

It is a scam

(Sorrento, 2019-02-14)

#186

Use ID to vote

(Bath, 2019-02-21)

#187

One person, one vote and you must verify who you are through identification. There are criminal aliens squatting in our state breaking the law so whose to say they are not voting for the party that protects them. We use identification for everything else, why not show it when you vote.

(Bowdoinham, 2019-02-23)

#189

I believe in one vote per person, this system has also already been proven as a failure.

(Benton, 2019-02-23)

#190

This law is unconstitutional

(brewer, 2019-02-23)

#192

I'm against rank choice voting.

(Bangor, 2019-02-23)

#194

"Rank" choice was designed to steal the votes to favor the socialist candidate nothing more.
It worked flawlessly for the liberal candidate Jared (have some taxpayer funded needles, cigs, tattoo, booze) Goldn.

(Guilford, 2019-02-23)

#195

I do not agree with RCV and do not want it used in elections. I believe only legal American citizens have the right to vote.

(Ludlow, 2019-02-23)

#196

This is so illegal.

(Hampden, 2019-02-23)

#197

One vote only and one count only

(Oxford, 2019-02-23)
