I am against the development

(Johannesburg, 2019-01-31)

#4

This is disgusting. Is going to create crime disease. Disgusting. Only in ******* SA would we dig up graves.

(Gaiteng, 2019-01-31)

#10

Show some respect for the dead, you cannot dig up graves.

(Johannesburg, 2019-01-31)

#20

I am a resident and do not want the graves tampered with or the diseases released into the area

(Linksfield, 2019-01-31)

#29

My parents, my grandmother and my uncle and his kids all live in Sandringham and this has been a huge health concern.

I do not want to expose my family to deadly, contagious diseases. There’s an old age home nearby as well. The elderly will not be able to fight of these diseases and the government and corporates involved will have those deaths on their hands. There’s a reason why that land is empty.

The elderly in the home cannot be moved and people like my grandmother can not afford to move.

That land is meant to be left alone and should be.

(Johannesburg, 2019-01-31)

#32

This is not acceptable to residents around the area. We were not consulted and this must not go ahead

(Johannesburg, 2019-01-31)

#40

I am signing this petition as I live very close to the area where they want to develope the new housing. But the dont know what impact will be on the people building on the land, the people living on the land and on the people surrounding the land if the viruses become air born.

(Johannesburg, 2019-01-31)

#44

Development is just unacceptale - no need to build on a grave site. Let the dead rest

(Sandringham, 2019-01-31)

#47

I'm signing because it is clear that this is a hazardous project that has neglected to consider all the health, safety, religious, cultural, environmental and heritage reasons that this development should NOT be undertaken.

(Johannesburg, 2019-01-31)

#55

Religious grounds.
Public health grounds.
Constitutional grounds.

(Johannesburg, 2019-01-31)

#56

I'm signing because little or no thought is put into where developments are built - often without the correct permissions in place too!! More thought needs to be given to the people who are so very often ripped off and stand to loose all they have by these unscrupulous developers who only think of the profits and their own pockets!!

(Johannesburg, 2019-01-31)

#59

The release of deadly infectious viruses and germs is a major concern.
The development will cause flooding of Alexandra.
The road system is already overloaded.

(johannesburg, 2019-02-01)

#60

I am absolutely appalled that : money and profit takes precedence of dignity of deceased people and health and safety.

(Johannesburg, 2019-02-01)

#62

The dangers involved in this

(Edenvale, 2019-02-02)

#63

I used to live in the area, and still visit quite often, and I do not wish to be exposed to these deadly diseases!!!!!!

(Riverfield, 2019-02-02)

#65

I do not agree with the development of a site containing dormant contagious diseases.

(Edenvale, 2019-02-02)

#68

This proposed development is a health risk

(Edenvale, 2019-02-02)

#74

I am signing because I do not want development on grave sites which could unleash harmful diseases

(Edenvale, 2019-02-02)

#76

Iam not sure what is happening now and what will happen in future and want DA to help us in this matter

(Germiston, 2019-02-03)

#92

This project has the potential to harm millions of South Africans and needs to be stopped. Open your eyes, you are one of those millions!

(Edenvale, 2019-02-03)

#93

Implications could be severe if not Stopped!!!!

(Edenvale, 2019-02-03)

#100

Objecting to development due to diseases

(Edenvale, 2019-02-03)

#101

I object to the development

(Edenvale, 2019-02-03)

#104

I believe it is the right thing to do - you cannot allow the development!

(Johannesburg, 2019-02-04)

#108

The development will dig up unmarked graves of people who died from terrible illnesses. This is a huge risk - and there has not been sufficient investigation to determine what impact this might have

(Edenvale, 2019-02-04)

#109

I live in the area and this is not safe practice

(Edenvale, 2019-02-04)

#122

I object for health and safety reasons

(Johannesburg, 2019-02-04)

#123

They will disturb graves. There is plenty land available elsewhere where no faces will be disturbed. No ones graves should ever be disturbed. Have respect for the dead.

(Johannesburg, 2019-02-04)

#129

This site should be far away from people. The contamination of people can happen easily and should not ever be allowed close to residential area.

(Edenvale, 2019-02-04)

#130

I live in the area and am terrified at the thought of these graves containing anthrax victims being disturbed. I find it beyond belief that there is any thought whatsoever of construction taking place on this site..

(Johannesburg, 2019-02-04)

#133

Plague cemetery sites and also sites which were used for disposal of incinerator waste are not clearly defined. We understand that there are over 5000 burials on the site which present a serious health problem emanating from the diseases when the hospital was in use.
The destruction of the few remaining headstones and memorials to people of all races is a disgrace to the thousands of people who lie in unmarked graves and their families.
We trust that once again a major heritage site is not lost to posterity by overriding commercialism.

(ekhuruleni, 2019-02-04)

#134

I object to the development in and around the vicinity of the Sizwe Contagious Diseases Hospital for health and safety reasons.

(Gauteng, 2019-02-04)

#137

There is so much land to build development housing it does not need to be in a hazardous site.

(Johannesburg, 2019-02-04)

#140

There are schools and homes in that area, what crazy idiot has decided that money in his pocket is worth risking releasing diseases into the community.

(Johannesburg, 2019-02-04)

#144

Of the great risk a development on this property would cause

(Bedfordview, 2019-02-05)

#148

It is disputable to conduct oneself the way that the developer has. Removing gravestones and not abiding caution when the area has graves of people who died with dreadful communicable diseases. Can the public service cope with any of those outbreaks?

I live in the area and feel threatened.

(Johannesburg, 2019-02-05)

#151

This development will be a shocking health hazard and must not happen!!

(johannesburg, 2019-02-05)

#153

I believe the ground to be contaminated. Dangerous to the health of workers and future residents. Besides desecration graves

(Germiston, 2019-02-05)

#154

Turn area into a new cemetery and
Respect the people there already

(Johannesburg, 2019-02-05)

#159

I am vehemenyly opposed to yhos development

(Johannesnurh, 2019-02-05)

#162

Health danger surely other options and land available

(Johannesburg, 2019-02-06)

#164

Communicable diseases are a threat. In addition the current infrastructure cannot support hundreds more homes and vehicles

(Johannesburg, 2019-02-06)

#165

Looking into the future the traffic congestion will cause more accidents on the surrounding roads than already exists.

(Edenvale, 2019-02-07)

#167

This is a disaster...please

(Sandringham, 2019-02-08)

#171

I am concerned about the dececration of Graves as well as the congestion on already over used roads and inadequate access.

(Edenvale, 2019-02-10)

#172

The risk to public safety of current and future generations is not worth the profits of a few selfish people.

(Johannesburg, 2019-02-10)

#173

I am worried about the health impact on the community

(Johannesburg, 2019-02-10)

#182

I'm signing because I believe this poses a very real health threat to the surrounding communities.

(Edenvale, 2019-02-10)

#184

Do not feel it is right to build over possible graves.

(Johannesburg, 2019-02-10)

#187

I feel very strongly about disturbing an area that may unleash extremely dangerous diseases.

(Edenvale, 2019-02-10)

#193

It is impossible to assess the full dangers of the toxins anh potential other health risks in the soil and ground waer

(Johannesburg, 2019-02-11)

#198

This is not safe.

(Edenvale, 2019-02-11)
