I understand the need to crack down on scammers, but the new ACX policies are unfair to authors with smaller sales numbers.Anita Stewart (Greenwood, 2020-03-26)

I think that ACX should not stop the codes. For a RS, it was a bonus to get money on books sold. The narrator earns nothing to produce and narrate the book. Everything is done for free. The codes were a little pay for both the narrator and author to share.Becky Ehrenpreis (Fort Lee, 2020-03-26)

This is a huge change that will have a terrible impact on a lot of us who signed contracts based on the codes at the time of signing. We are in the middle of a global pandemic, Amazon! Our revenue is already uncertain. This is really kicking people when we are down. Can’t you at least give the codes/payments for contracts signed before the announcement, and make the change going forward, so we can plan accordingly?

As a loyal Audible customer (my library currently has 1,718 titles in, but I'm sure that will change soon!), I feel that I have an invested interest in the authors and narrators who create the books that give so much joy to my life. It sounds as if the new policy will adversely affect these people, and it does so just as they, along with so many others, are being hit hard by the economic effects of COVID-19. Audible showed sensitivity toward them by temporarily increasing their royalty checks. Please do the right thing in this matter too.Victoria Mejia-Gewe (Glendale, 2020-03-26)

A lot of narrators only accepted contracts for Royalty Share or RS+ because they knew they would at least be able to count on that initial income off of their 200 promo codes - plus the Rights Holders codes as well. ACX should have given us some time to prepare for this, many of us have book literally sitting in queue waiting for release which have now lost a lot of value because of this policy change. I for one would never have accepted Royalty Share Plus on my last book had I known this was about to happen because it suddenly slashed my potential income.Barbara Goldie (Auckland, 2020-03-26)

Those of us who do this for a full-time living have counted the very generous paid rate for sales from codes as part of our monthly ability to make a go of this career. To have codes change from 20% to 0% virtually overnight gives us no time to revamp our finances or current deals to make the adjustment in our budgets that this will require.
Thank you.

I feel this change is unfair to authors and narratirs and don't agree with it. Are ACX offering to improve their service or tackle ongoing problems or is this all for their own benefit?Mia Harper (Cardiff, 2020-03-27)

Just discovered the audiobooks that were offered for free, and was greatly pleased to hear and leave reviews, I think it should continue, so others may benefit from audiobooks they may not have considered otherwise.Michael Smith (Nebo, 2020-03-27)

1. Advance notice would have been in good faith.2. I looked forward to recouping a portion of the high production costs to convert my first series, 6 books, into audio books.
3. At THIS time dude, really??? Do the right thing and postpone for 90 days...some of us have books STILL in review!!

I'm signing because I am an author who struggles and our promo codes that we were getting and subsequently leading to sales is the ONLY way some of us get paid on royalty share. With you taking that away from us, what is our incentive now?Tammy Dowdal (Columbiaville, 2020-03-27)

As a narrator, I think this is completely unfair for both the producers and the right holders. This is also unacceptable considering it is affecting hundreds of projects commissioned before the announcement, with exclusive distribution.
Many authors are already changing the distribution agreement on many products, if not removing them completely from the platform.
This is already having a huge impact on all of us and it will only develop into a massive abstension and boycott

ACX SCAMMED US!As a narrator, this is completely UNFAIR for producers and the RH. This is unacceptable considering it is affecting hundreds of projects commissioned BEFORE the announcement, with exclusive distribution.
We have to change the distribution agreement on our products, removing them completely from the platform. This is already having a huge impact on all of us and it will only develop into a massive abstention and boycott.
They should only be ashamed, I hope their platform remains empty very soon!

I've greatly appreciated being paid for the redemption of promo codes. The codes have not only helped kick start actual sales, but they have provided a needed source of income from titles just entering retail. While these codes were obviously never intended to be the only source of income for narrators and authors sharing royalties, they help tide us over until sales ramp up. I am dismayed that acx has made it so no payment can be expected from codes; not only because of loss of income, but also because now when a code is distributed, the author and narrator truly are giving away their hard work for no compensation whatsoever. I implore you to reverse this decision. Artists deserve to be paid.Kristina Yuen (Renton, 2020-03-28)

As an emerging author this was one of the few ways I have been able to generate actual money from royalties. Any while I certainly agree with the need to combat those abusing the system, surely there are other intermediate alternatives to try first. Shutting down the system altogether is hardly “protecting the ACX community.”Chad Clark (Cedar Rapids, 2020-03-28)

This decision by ACX will hurt me financially. This was done poorly and with little notice. Furthermore, I have had two audiobooks pending approval for months which now will fall under the new policy and will further hurt my earnings. Shame on you, ACX.Steven Pajak (Niles, 2020-03-28)

I signed the Restricted Distribution also for promocodes.Right now there Is no advantages in choosing Amazon.
It was a really good marketing idea, and also i have built a big email marketing Plan about promocodes for my readers/listeners.
This Is not correct.
On the First Page of ACX the First banner was Only about "Growing Listeners with promocodes"
A lot of work and Money completety throwed away cause of policy changed without any advise.
This Is not correct.
Delete the scammers and give the honest Authors the possibility to use promocodes!

This is a great way to get an author’s name out there. While I understand Amazon isn’t getting paid for these, in the long run there will be fewer people taking the chance without compensation .Lee Mauer (Flora, 2020-04-01)

It directly affects me as an author and there was no warning whatsoever that they would be doing this. Also, I didn't misuse anything, so figure out a way to deal with those who do so the rest of us can stop being punished.Chris Miller (Winnsboro, 2020-04-01)

They created a system that was easily gamed. Many people took advantage of it. Garbage books were being uploaded. Many people invested tens of thousands of dollars into narrators. Suddenly, they stop it. Many people won't make their investment back. Typical way of Amazon screwing over their publishers, sellers, and authors. I'm switching to Findaway Voices and Authors Republic and Streetlib. There is no incentive to go exclusive anymore and $50 PFH is now a VERY expensive price to pay, all of a sudden. I'm switching to self-narration too. It's not rocket science. Many narrators will lose their jobs. Yay for ACX who gives us a 5% royalty bonus for two months! Hooray for Amazon! (very sarcastic) Good luck getting people to stick around. Figure out a different system to minimize the risk of investing, or everyone will leave. Bring bounties back, pay only 20% for codes. Give less codes. Or just pay 60% for going exclusive. ANYTHING could work. But now, it doesn't. It won't until something changes.Vincent NA (Saint George, 2020-04-11)
